00:18that was the day emergency was revoked
00:21revoked
00:23so I go in for interview
00:26Shah Jahan wrote first person that morning
00:30and that morning from previous day
00:34the election result is coming
00:37we were up all night watching the election result
00:42soe ne the showing on our face
00:44and I imagine I am the first person
00:48as the defeat of the emergency rule
00:53is coming into the understanding of people
00:56you walk into your interview
00:58in a way that is what got me through the interview
01:03I was a political science student
01:05so my interview
01:08the first question they asked me
01:10achha ap political science pattene
01:12so please explain to us
01:14the election mein hua kya
01:16now I had two takeaways from that experience
01:22one very senior people
01:26very senior people many of them former government servants
01:30senior government servants kuch log jo hain secretary rah chukke hain
01:34important people of political standing
01:38people from different services
01:40intellectuals
01:41they are asking a 22 year old student
01:44think bhai samjau hume ki hua kya is election
01:49now that is where I was lucky
01:56it was a subject because every indian is interested in politics
01:59if you are in jnu you are super interested in politics
02:02on top of it I was a political science student
02:05and we had all taken part in the 77 election campaign
02:09we had all actually gone there and worked
02:13for the defeat of emergency
02:15in 77
02:16so I was
02:19I forgot I was in the interview
02:20I started giving them gyan
02:23though I was 22
02:24but my two takeaways
02:27one
02:29at that moment my communication
02:32skill somehow came together
02:35I was able
02:36because these were all people
02:39in a way
02:40who were connected
02:41who were quite sympathetic
02:42to the government of the day
02:44to explain to the people
02:47who were sympathetic to the government of the day
02:49bhai aap logun ko hua kya
02:51without offending them
02:53was actually quite a challenge
02:55and the second thing
02:57which I learned that day
02:58that ye latyans bubble jo hai na
03:02these people were really shocked
03:04they could not believe
03:06that this election result had happened
03:08whereas for us as ordinary students
03:10we could see
03:11that there was a wave against emergency
03:13so from that day
03:15I had to carry away from my interview
03:18how to communicate under pressure
03:21and do it without offending people
03:23how do you persuade
03:27how do you explain
03:29this was one carry away
03:33and the second
03:33which was for me
03:34a political carry away
03:35that important people
03:37may be living
03:38in a bubble
03:40and not realizing
03:42actually what is happening
03:43in the country
03:43and people on the field
03:45because
03:46we thought of ourselves
03:48we were students
03:48who had done campaigns
03:50we had gone
03:52you know
03:52I remember
03:53at that time
03:53going with my friends
03:55we went to Bhivani
03:56we went to Muzaffar Nagar
03:57that
03:58how
04:00how we had picked up
04:01the sense on the ground
04:02but people
04:03who sitting in Delhi
04:05with all the information
04:06from all the systems
04:07somehow
04:08they missed it
04:10I was just
04:12like
04:14you
04:15I to say
04:16about
04:19this
04:19I'm
