00:00Five lights are on, it's lights out, away we go, Hamilton gets away well, and he's getting towards Max Verstappen now,

00:07tries to cover him off and pushes him to the left-hand side, Perez is in acres of space as Hamilton on the inside,

00:12pushes Max Verstappen wide, can Perez fight back? No, he can't, Hamilton is just ahead of Verstappen,

00:17Perez challenging his teammate around turn two, Hamilton leads from Verstappen, then comes Sergio Perez,

00:24and then the Ferrari of Charles Leclerc, Lewis Hamilton got the dream start that he wanted,

00:28three times he's won here from second in the past, he has made a lightning start and leads the race

00:33as Carlos Sainz and Daniel Ricciardo tangle the Ferrari and the McLaren almost touching wheels,

00:39Wollando Norris just behind. Yeah, Sainz on the soft times with a decent start,

00:42but the initial launch, the reaction time, Hamilton was faster away and Verstappen, try as he might,

00:48couldn't do anything about it. Hamilton then leads the US Grand Prix,

00:52he's stretching away from Max Verstappen, Perez third, then comes Leclerc, and behind him,

00:57Carlos Sainz under pressure from Daniel Ricciardo, trying to get into the slipstream,

01:01but he touched the back of the Ferrari and had to just drop back a bit, there goes Ricciardo,

01:05here comes Lando Norris down the inside, it's Ferrari and McLaren, what a battle,

01:10Norris on the inside, Donnie got the place, Carlos Sainz is pushed wide,

01:14and still somehow stays ahead of his former teammate, Ricciardo nips on the inside,

01:19now Lando Norris to get that place back, and it's all happening on lap one here.

01:23You'd think it was the last lap of the Grand Prix, the way they're going at it,

01:26but they do know, these are the easiest opportunities to make up places,

01:30and it's a bitter battle between McLaren and Ferrari,

01:33and look at that, what a lovely overtake, through 16, 17 and 18, from Daniel Ricciardo.

01:40The two Canadians in what is arguably a home race for them.

01:43Sandwich by the f***ing horse, man, just send it in front with damage.

01:47Coming through turn two, on board with Esteban Ocon,

01:53he's got the Alfa Tauri of Gasly in front of him,

01:56oh, and it just got clipped there by a very fast starting Alfa Romeo,

02:00not just Kimi Räikkönen, but Antonio Giovinazzi as well,

02:03they both started well, the two Alfas, up to 11th and 12th,

02:07and necessitating a front wing change for the Alpine team.

02:11Max Verstappen is coming in then, for the undercut on Mercedes,

02:15his tyre's getting hot, he's decided he doesn't want those hot tyres for any longer,

02:20so let's put a set of hards on the car, and away we go,

02:23and that was a very nice stop, no problems, very smooth for Verstappen.

02:27Hard tyres go on at 4, Hamilton is stationary time, 2.8 seconds.

02:33Max Verstappen now ahead of Hamilton.

02:38Fernando Alonso and Kimi Räikkönen, as they go wheel to wheel,

02:41and Räikkönen gets pushed wide, and they almost touch and come a cropper at turn one.

02:46Räikkönen and Alonso separated by half a millimetre, it seemed, going through there,

02:51before Alonso had to back out.

02:53We loved this, we loved watching it, they did touch.

02:56Yeah, they can't penalise him for that.

02:58Bottas trying to get past Yuki Tsunoda, Tsunoda goes deep, it's the old switcheroo then from Valtteri Bottas.

03:07He allows Tsunoda to go deep and says, thank you, I'll just nip it on the inside,

03:10and I'll take that eighth place from you.

03:13Fernando Alonso on Antonio Giovinazzi, under braking, goes way too deep, Fernando.

03:18It was a bit optimistic, but you know what?

03:20He leaves the track, comes back on the track, and still might find himself ahead of that Alfa Romeo,

03:25and he does.

03:26Fernando Alonso up into 11th.

03:28Did he leave the track and gain an advantage, or was all fair in that particular battle?

03:34This is how Fernando Alonso gave that place back to Antonio Giovinazzi.

03:39I've never seen him go that slowly.

03:42Here we go again, Karun, it's Alonso Giovinazzi, part two,

03:45and this time it's Antonio Giovinazzi that is forced wide,

03:50and as he comes back on the track, he gives a little shove towards the Alpine,

03:54and Alonso, biding his time, gets on the power early,

03:57goes a little shove towards Giovinazzi.

03:59Does he stay in that 11th place?

04:01Yes, the Alfa Romeo does, fighting for his Formula One future.

04:04The Italian driver up against Fernando Alonso,

04:06who'll definitely be back next season,

04:08and he'll definitely start the next lap behind Giovinazzi once again.

04:12Antonio have to give some position to Alonso.

04:20Vettel on the medium tyre, George Russell on the hard compound tyre.

04:24Vettel absolutely chomping at the bit to get past George Russell here,

04:34as they head left-handed into turn 19, the Aston Martins ahead.

04:3926 laps to go in this race, Verstappen makes his second pit stop.

04:43Oh, it's kind of okay, wasn't it?

04:46Lewis Hamilton is coming into the pit, so it was target,

04:50plus, what, another 8, 2.4 seconds.

04:54Four tenths quicker than Verstappen and Red Bull.

04:58Carlos Sainz trying to go the long way round on the outside,

05:01and that's where they touched.

05:32finally clearing Antonio Giovinazzi.

05:35He's now chasing after Giovinazzi's teammate,

05:38Kimi Raikkonen.

05:39Somebody is off in the first sector.

05:41It's Kimi Raikkonen,

05:42and that has allowed Sebastian Vettel

05:44to now move up into the points.

05:46So Vettel's charge wasn't in vain.

05:48He's got into the points.

05:49Got his hard score.

05:50Please go out of the way.

05:51Get on to Michael.

05:55He's costing him because he's now in dirtier as well, effectively.

06:09Hamilton has now got DRS,

06:12but crucially, so has Verstappen

06:14because he was lapping Mick Schumacher.

06:16And that gives him the chance to lap with the DRS.

06:20Verstappen is keeping his cool.

06:22He's keeping his calm and composure,

06:24and he is keeping the lead as well.

06:26His first sector, a tenth up on Lewis Hamilton.

06:28It's taken him beyond that DRS threat.

06:31While that's been happening,

06:32Valtteri Bottas has finally got past Carlos Sainz.

06:36Max Verstappen is going to lead

06:37and double his advantage in the World Championship

06:40for the first time on US soil.

06:46Lewis Hamilton has to settle for second.

06:49The charge got close, but not quite close enough.
