00:00Tonight on The Proof is Out There.
00:03On this special episode, we're investigating evil.
00:07Did a malevolent spirit drive this burning bus?
00:11This video actually sent shivers down my spine.
00:14Is this a recording of a real demonic possession?
00:17In the United States, exorcisms happen almost every single day.
00:21Did a trail camera capture a satanic ritual in the woods?
00:24There are satanic cults that engage in sacrifice
00:29in order to get power.
00:31And did scientists record horrific howls of the dam?
00:35Are these sounds the anguished cries of those in hell?
00:42Around the globe are videos.
00:44What are those things?
00:46It's moving.
00:47Photos and sounds that defy explanation.
00:51We don't know where they come from, who made them, or how they operate.
01:00What are they?
01:01Some sort of bizarre mutation.
01:03What's exciting is nobody really knows.
01:05Extraordinary claims need extraordinary proof.
01:08I'm Tony Harris, and as a journalist for more than 30 years,
01:13I've followed the facts where they take me.
01:16Now I'm bringing that spirit of investigation to the world's strangest sounds and images.
01:22We'll analyze each one with top experts.
01:25It's a credible case, it's a credible video.
01:28And pass a verdict on what it is.
01:31This video was clearly faked.
01:33The proof starts now.
01:43Good evening everyone, and welcome to The Proof Is Out There, The Satan Files.
01:48Tonight we are not giving sympathy to the devil, but we are giving him an hour's worth of attention.
01:54That's because while the concept of Satan dates back to at least 600 B.C.,
01:59there are many people today who say there's proof he's real.
02:03We're not speaking metaphorically here.
02:05We are talking about a powerful, malevolent, supernatural entity,
02:09real enough not only to bring evil into this world,
02:13but to physically possess bodies, minds, and souls of innocent people,
02:17and in some cases even inanimate objects.
02:20Think it's all just superstition?
02:23Well, tonight you'll see several videos and hear audio recordings
02:27that might challenge your view.
02:29But first, let's give the devil his due.
02:33Dante described him as a monstrous winged beast.
02:36Milton described him as a Promethean-like hero.
02:39As long as humans have been talking about good and evil,
02:42they've been talking about the devil.
02:45This stuff is accepted in most cultures in the world and throughout history.
02:49Lucifer, Beelzebub, Satan, whatever you call him,
02:54the concept of the devil can be found mentioned across a multitude of religions,
02:58including Judaic, Islamic, and Christian faiths.
03:01Although many believe he appears in the Bible as the serpent in the Garden of Eden,
03:06a more humanoid form first appeared in the Book of Job as a servant angel named Ha-Satan.
03:12And the devil we know and recognize today would materialize much later within the scripture of the New Testament.
03:21Biblically speaking, when we talk about demons or devils, we're actually talking about fallen angels,
03:26these preternatural realities that have turned their back on God forever.
03:31To this day, Satan and his menagerie of demons remains front and center in our films, books, podcasts, and TV shows.
03:39And some would argue that their presence in the real world has been rising as well.
03:43In fact, a recent survey by the Pew Research Center found that more than 62% of Americans believe in some version of hell, up from 58% in 2014.
03:54So it's no wonder that demonic encounters are being reported with great frequency.
04:00Take, for example, this 2020 video from Beirut that shows a horrific warehouse explosion.
04:09Many believed this crimson cloud left in the aftermath actually revealed the devil himself.
04:17I would say that evil, broadly speaking, yes, it does exist.
04:22Now, as far as the figurehead that we know as Satan or the devil, that's very difficult to say.
04:30With a recent influx of devil-related conspiracy theories, it's not surprising that reports of demonic activity appear to be on an upswing.
04:39And with it, a worldwide increase in the art of exorcism.
04:44We might assume that exorcisms are extremely rare.
04:51But there are reports that exorcisms happen almost every single day.
04:55In Italy, there are now 500,000 requests for exorcisms every year.
05:01Renowned psychiatrist Dr. Richard Gallagher has been witness to dozens of exorcisms and has worked as a psychiatric advisor to faith leaders around the world.
05:08When exorcists need help, he's the one they call.
05:12I'm extremely committed to the scientific method.
05:16My essential task is to make sure there's no medical or psychiatric explanation.
05:22So I'm ruling out the kind of conditions that often get confused for demonic conditions.
05:31People who have severe personality disorders, people who are very hysterical or histrionic or suggestible, multiple personality disorder.
05:42These are the most common conditions.
05:43Gallagher eventually became a scientific advisor for the International Association of Exorcists, an organization recognized by the Pope himself.
05:53And it's not just the Catholic Church taking up the charge.
05:57New Age exorcists like Jeffrey Seelman are working with an increasing number of businesses and residences, all claiming to be disturbed by something sinister from beyond.
06:07Unfortunately, in my line of work, I have to tell people that the reason that their house is under attack or their business or their daughter or their child in the cradle is simply because the spirit wants to see how far it can go.
06:25It wants to destroy all things that are good.
06:28But the question still remains, can we confirm that any of this demonic activity is actually real and proof of some nefarious underworld?
06:40We begin with the idea that evil forces cannot only possess people, but objects as well.
06:47Stephen King's famous novel, Christine, was about the possession of a 1958 Plymouth Fury.
06:53And this video is about the alleged possession of a bus.
06:59June 2022, Kapiti Coast, New Zealand.
07:03Craig Meek and his daughter, Amy, are visiting family in Raumati Beach when they smell gas.
07:09They wander outside right as the lights on their neighbor's vacant bus turn on.
07:15Meek pulls out his camera and records this.
07:18A bus is engulfed by a mysterious fire with the ferocity that is sure to spread to the neighboring homes.
07:24Inexplicably, it turns on and lurches across the road, but there's no one inside.
07:30Onlookers scatter in bewilderment as the fiery phantom vehicle is finally stopped by a cluster of trees.
07:36You've got a bus that has just started moving on its own, engulfed in flames, the lights were flashing, the horn beeping.
07:47The question is, what's driving this thing?
07:50There's some what appears to be invisible force that's navigating this.
07:54Brooks says the idea of spirits possessing inanimate objects is nothing new.
08:01Possession from a traditional understanding has to do with this idea that there's some kind of intelligence that wants to control something outside of itself.
08:11In some cases, possessing inanimate objects.
08:16That inanimate object like a bus or even a doll can become animated and do certain things that would frighten the heck out of people.
08:24This is Robert the doll, which sits in the East Martello Museum in Key West, Florida.
08:31Robert was given to a boy named Robert Eugene Otto, who owned the doll until he died in 1974.
08:38Over the years, the doll has allegedly moved its head, changed its facial expressions and even giggled.
08:44According to legend, the doll had been cursed in a voodoo ceremony as revenge for something that family had done.
08:51If any of that's true, could the bus be under a similar spell, the one that's more benevolent?
08:58This is a bus that was owned by a man and his wife, and the husband said that the wife loved this bus.
09:05Now, as if this weren't spooky enough, it turns out the wife passed away while sitting inside this exact same bus.
09:16So when we see the bus drive across the street to a safer place where it won't catch the house on fire, we have to ask,
09:24is this the spirit of the wife trying to protect her husband and their home?
09:29It's a theory the widowed bus owner believes.
09:32Jesus Christ.
09:35My wife probably didn't want to be able to do it again.
09:39The fact that the headlights came on and the horn continues to beat.
09:45The wife, or some force, is trying to get people out of the way.
09:52Back in 2003, a story surfaced about a small wine cabinet that many believed was haunted by a debuk,
09:59a demonic spirit from Jewish folklore.
10:03This debuk box supposedly exchanged hands since the Holocaust, bringing illness and bad luck to all of its owners,
10:10until its last owner took a rabbi's suggestion and locked it inside a container lined with gold,
10:18where the spirit is said to be imprisoned until this day.
10:21Could this bus be hosting a similar entity?
10:25Let's go to the experts.
10:28A positive spirit could very well have operated that vehicle and driven it to safety across the street.
10:42There are so many more positive spirits out there than negative spirits.
10:49It's just that negative spirits get all the credit.
10:51Sometimes miracles do happen.
10:55But theoretical physics professor Michio Kaku thinks the explanation behind this video is far less supernatural.
11:01We've all seen the movies where the bad guy gets into a car, steals the car by hot wiring the car.
11:08Underneath the steering wheel, there are two wires, normally uncrossed, but you can short circuit the circuitry,
11:15and the car starts up all by itself.
11:18Same thing here. The fire melted the insulation so that two wires crossed and the engine started all by itself.
11:26But the one thing that's not so explicable is how this vehicle moves the way it does.
11:32According to Kaku, that would require an exceptional series of coincidences.
11:37First of all, you have electricity in the car, next you have gasoline, and then you have all the gears and the mechanical mechanisms.
11:45Here's a situation where all three must fail, and the road may not be perfectly flat, which could cause the tires to swerve.
11:52Maybe you can explain away a lot of these incidents.
11:56But I can see why people believe in ghosts, because once in a while something bizarre happens, something very unusual.
12:02Our verdict? We're going with unexplained.
12:13Unfortunately, we can't quite determine how or why the bus moved the way it did.
12:19In the meantime, be wary around any odd behaving objects.
12:22You never know what type of unknown force may be operating within.
12:31This next story is perhaps the most famous real-life example of demonic possession.
12:37So viewer discretion is advised.
12:38September 1975, Klingenburg, West Germany.
12:44After years of their daughters continually declining health and increasingly strange behavior,
12:50the parents of 23-year-old Anneliese Michelle turned to the Catholic Church for help.
12:55Recording devices capture these conversations in German over the course of a harrowing 67 exorcism attempts.
13:02If you can believe it, that's Anneliese speaking in a voice allegedly not her own.
13:19How did this all begin?
13:33At the age of 16, Anneliese Michelle had some severe experiences such as blackouts
13:39and feeling a heavy weight pressing her to her bed.
13:42She was diagnosed with epilepsy, but the medication didn't seem to help.
13:46And by the age of 20, she began to hear noises.
13:50And had a great distaste for being in the presence of religious objects, crucifixes or relics.
13:57She began to injure herself.
13:59She bit the head off of a bird.
14:01She drank her own urine from the floor.
14:03She was barking like a dog.
14:05It was at this point that everyone around her thought that she was truly possessed.
14:10The increasingly desperate family turned to their local priests for help.
14:14In 1975, exorcisms began on Anneliese Michelle on a bi-weekly basis, each lasting as long as four hours.
14:23Anneliese began to claim that she was possessed by people like Cain and Hitler.
14:29This story does not end well.
14:33On July 1, 1976, after 10 months of continuous exorcisms, Anneliese died in her home.
14:41The priests and her parents claimed that just before she passed, she was freed from her possession.
14:48And the exorcism was a success.
14:50Let's see what our experts think.
14:51First, forensic audio analyst Rob Maher takes a listen to those supposedly inhuman noises.
15:02If we compare the girl's speech in the recording to what a voice actor is able to produce...
15:13That voice actor is able to produce a very similar quality to what we hear from this girl.
15:28Since the growls could be easily produced by a human play acting, many are skeptical that this was a legitimate demonic possession.
15:35The conversations were immature. There was way too much talk about things that a demonic spirit would have no interest in.
15:45According to Seelman, the demon is more likely to attack the person performing the exorcism, not the religious institution.
15:52The demonic spirit is going to try to make the priests feel weak, insult their personal lives.
15:59Everything that I heard was really anger at the Catholic Church itself.
16:06And it was well known that the people of this town were very conservative and religious.
16:15No dating, no fun, no going out at night.
16:19And so it would not be surprising that Anneliese Michelle was pretty unhappy with what was going on.
16:25Dr. Hope agrees this culture, combined with Anneliese's previous diagnosis, seemed to create a perfect storm.
16:32She had a diagnosis of temporal lobe epilepsy, which can lead to psychotic symptoms such as delusions and hallucinations.
16:42Having very religious beliefs, those stories and themes of the devil became very real to her and must have been absolutely terrifying.
16:51But if this was epilepsy, why wasn't Anneliese responding to standard treatment?
16:57Even today, with these type of illnesses, we aren't always able to get people symptom free.
17:03It doesn't mean that the diagnosis wasn't correct or that other diagnosis such as demonic possession are an explanation.
17:11So how did this disturbing scenario ultimately reach its end?
17:14In the last few weeks, she was not able to eat and drink very much at all.
17:18It was noted she had bilateral fractures, so broken knees due to the fact that she was praying so much.
17:27She died at the young age of 23 and weighed only 68 pounds.
17:32The actual cause of death was malnutrition and dehydration.
17:35Her parents and the priest were charged and convicted of negligent homicide.
17:41And the state prosecutor sadly said that even up to a week before her death, if she'd have got treatment, then her life could have been saved.
17:48Our verdict? Mental illness. We agree with that historic conclusion, in part because of the analysis of the recordings themselves.
18:03Hopefully, Anneliese is finally resting in peace.
18:06These next images raise a disturbing question. Are people practicing satanic rituals in the woods?
18:16The incident involves a naked woman, a mutilated deer and, well, just look for yourself, if you dare.
18:25February 21st, 2021, Powell River in British Columbia, Canada.
18:30Local resident Karina Wallace-Chuck's grandfather comes across a deer carcass while walking just outside his property.
18:38He had a little chat with the neighbor, and he agreed to let him put up a trail cam just to see what maybe killed it.
18:47At around 5 o'clock, the motion sensor camera snaps away at a bobcat.
18:51But then, an hour later, after it gets dark and the camera switches to night vision, it captures a macabre scene.
18:59A sequence of photos depicts a nearly naked woman with long, dark hair.
19:04She crouches down holding the deer's leg near her mouth as a second long-haired person joins her before both mysteriously disappear.
19:12I was pretty creeped out. My thoughts were either someone's on drugs or they've got a really weird kink.
19:22Karina eventually decides to put the pictures online to see if she can get some answers.
19:27I originally posted it on a Facebook group I'm on, like, what do you think of this?
19:32And that's where all the, like, oh, witches and all these things came out.
19:37After many likes and shares, these fawn feasters make international headlines.
19:42Author Alexis Brooks says that's for good reason.
19:45Clearly, this was a very strange act.
19:48It almost looks like they are bending over in a sign of devotion.
19:53I think we're looking at some sort of a really, really dark ritual.
19:57So is it possible we're witnessing the aftermath of some witches' satanic supper?
20:03There are certain satanic cults that engage in sacrifice to get power from the soul of the animal
20:13and bring that power into the individual that is doing the sacrifice or a coven of satanic worshippers.
20:21In fact, Brooks says there's a recent alleged case of satanic animal sacrifice from 2021, which will blur because it's disturbing.
20:30Several dead goats were discovered, found dumped in a northeast El Paso desert.
20:36Texas Parks and Wildlife officials say some of these goats were actually missing bodily fluids like blood.
20:43So they directly correlated it to a potential satanic act.
20:47Sacrificing animals for a cult like rituals sounds pretty gruesome.
20:56But get this, the United States has legislation protecting ritual slaughter for some religions.
21:03So is there any meat on the bone in this potentially fiendish feast?
21:08Let's ask the experts.
21:09Anthropologist Kathy Strange says that though people often associate witchcraft with Satanism, this connection is mostly a myth, especially in modern times.
21:22Witchcraft in general is still plenty alive in Canada and America.
21:25And it's really just as tame as maybe palm or tarot readings, they perform seances, cast spells, conjure the dead, that type of thing.
21:36It's more like Wicca, where you worship nature as a whole versus Satan.
21:42Yet that doesn't make what these people are doing any less dangerous.
21:45Emergency medicine physician Dr. Ed Hope shares some raw truths about animal flesh.
21:52Eating raw meat, you are at serious risk of getting a zoonotic infection.
21:57That is one passed from animal to humans.
22:00In fact, dining on a decaying carcass can be downright deadly.
22:03The carcass is going to have lots of bacteria such as E. coli or salmonella.
22:09But also there are some that are specific to dead animals.
22:14One of these diseases called tularemia, also known as rabbit fever.
22:18And this is an extremely deadly bacteria.
22:22Yet is this mysterious figure actually even consuming the carcass?
22:26I mean, we can't say for sure if she's trying to eat it.
22:29She's certainly holding it up close to her mouth, but she could just be looking at it.
22:34There's no conclusive evidence to say she is actually eating it from what I see here.
22:39But even if this woman is not eating the dead deer, her actions still seem to defy logic.
22:45So how do we slice this one up?
22:47To me, what we're seeing here is obviously a hoax.
22:50These two people probably thought it would be funny to dress up in long wigs,
22:54take off some of their clothing, and get their pictures taken on the camera.
22:59But I don't think these people had any ill intention to be called a witch or anything like that.
23:05They just thought it would be funny.
23:07Corina herself agrees.
23:09There's a trailer park down the road.
23:11A few questionable characters live there.
23:13I'd like to think that was the prank.
23:16That's what makes me sleep at night, thinking that.
23:18Our verdict, though these pictures are pretty creepy, this incident is likely a hoax.
23:30Trail cameras have a tendency to attract all sorts of tricksters and attention seekers.
23:38Does hell exist?
23:39Today, most people think of it as a spiritual place.
23:43But historically, it was thought to be a physical place, deep underground.
23:48And when one research team decided to dig as deep as humanly possible,
23:52they may have recorded something truly unholy.
23:58It's 1989 in Murmansk, Russia.
24:00A Russian government project named the Kola Superdeep Borehole
24:06is in the process of trying to drill the deepest hole in the world
24:10as part of a drilling race with the U.S. to uncover scientific mysteries close to the Earth's core.
24:17But when these scientists reached 7.6 miles into the Earth's crust,
24:23their equipment begins to suffer odd malfunctions.
24:25According to the story, several heat-resistant microphones were lowered into the hole
24:30in an attempt to discover what was going wrong.
24:33Years later, a recording surface that alleges to capture what these mics picked up,
24:38and the sounds are nothing short of terrifying.
24:45We hear what sounds like an endless cacophony of human screams.
24:50The scientists themselves allegedly refer to it as the sounds of hell.
24:56Unfortunately, the Russian government is not releasing a lot of information,
25:03but it could be some kind of warning.
25:06Like a bad spirit saying,
25:08maybe you shouldn't drill down this far because you're not going to like what comes up.
25:12Christians began to quit.
25:14Be concerned that perhaps this was something that they should not have done,
25:18or for fear of divine reprisal for accidentally or purposefully drilling into hell itself.
25:23At this time, speculation began to swirl about why the Russians were drilling in cola in the first place.
25:30A lot of religions believe that hell itself exists below the surface of the Earth.
25:34There was some questioning as to whether the Russians were attempting to make contact with the devil.
25:40The majority of human beings throughout history have always believed in hell.
25:45I've had so many experiences at exorcisms and evil spirits.
25:49They certainly acknowledge that they are coming from hell.
25:53But if hell exists, is it underground?
25:56While the general idea of hell goes back to the time of Christ,
25:58it wasn't until the Middle Ages that hell was depicted as a pit of pain and torture.
26:05We really get our most descriptive versions of hell from Italian poet Dante,
26:10who wrote the Inferno or the Divine Comedy.
26:12We see kind of this layered approach as Dante goes deeper into hell,
26:16and the final circles of hell are these horrible, fiery places,
26:21and souls are essentially tortured for their evil deeds on Earth.
26:26If we believe that hell is a real physical place,
26:30it stands to reason that those millions of souls would scream out in agony quite loudly
26:35from the bowels of this hellish cavern through the Earth's mantle.
26:38Back in 2016, a Michigan-based priest claimed he got a glimpse of hell after suffering a heart attack.
26:51He said he saw his soul travel deep into the center of the Earth,
26:56where he witnessed men being burned alive and humanoids that walked on all fours.
27:01Could this audio recording help verify those visions?
27:06Let's listen to the experts.
27:08NASA geologist Bob Anderson explores the initial problem with the COLA super deep hole,
27:18those odd equipment malfunctions.
27:20As you go deeper down into the rock, the Earth is getting warmer.
27:24And so as they go down, the drill bits start slowing down.
27:28When they put the microphones down, the temperature was increasing to a very high temperature.
27:33We don't have microphones that can handle 2,000 degrees.
27:35And so basically the microphones are deteriorating as they go down and you get some really weird sounds.
27:43So the heat might have produced the recorded sounds.
27:46But to many, they do sound human.
27:47The sounds that we can identify are moans and howls that are within the frequency range and the characteristics that a human could produce.
27:58Could this truly be a chorus of the damned?
28:01According to Maher, the devil is in the details.
28:05There are several characteristics in the spectrogram that we can see that have an identical duplicate at other points in the recording.
28:13So there's a particular shriek utterance here, which matches one at the beginning and then that same utterance appears here at the end.
28:23It would be literally impossible to make those exact duplicates that we see here.
28:31So again, the indications are that those are simply loops of a single recording.
28:37This was mixed or put together rather than being a continuous, authentic recording.
28:41Our verdict? We are saying this is a hoax tied to a real event.
28:52Well, the drilling operation itself was in fact real.
28:55The stories of these strange sounds seem to be nothing more than fiction.
28:59In recent years, the death record of the Kola borehole has already been broken twice.
29:03So if there is anything that lies below, we may be getting closer and closer to finding it.
29:13Can evil spirits possess our bodies even after we die?
29:18In our next story, we take a look at evidence from an ancient burial ground that indicates a genuine fear of the undead among a terrified community.
29:27Were they onto something?
29:28Were they onto something?
29:30It's late 2023 in the village of Pien, Poland.
29:34Darius Polinski, along with his team of fellow researchers, are excavating an unmarked 17th century cemetery first discovered in 2005.
29:43Archaeologists have unearthed nearly 100 graves at the site.
29:48Their digs just keep getting stranger until they make this ghastly discovery.
29:51This photo shows remains that archaeologists say are those of a six-year-old boy who was buried face down with a padlock under his left foot that's seemingly chaining him to the earth as if to keep the body from getting up and leaving the grave.
30:08A woman's body was also found in the cemetery with a sickle around the neck placed in such a way that if the deceased tried to get up, the head would be severed or at least injured.
30:29What's going on here?
30:30Journalist Aaron McCarthy says it could tie back to the concept of reanimation.
30:46Reanimation.
30:47Reanimation of this kind was a really big fear in Poland in the 17th century.
30:52They were really afraid of revenants.
30:55Revenant might not be a term that many people are familiar with.
30:59It actually comes from the French word revnier, meaning to come back, and it describes a number of creatures that rise from the dead.
31:06If the idea behind the demonic-like beings known as revenants sounds familiar, it's because the concept would overlap into what we now call the vampire.
31:15Many folklorists suggest that there was a perceived outbreak of vampirism in most of Eastern Europe during the 17th and 18th centuries,
31:24where many individuals reported seeing violent acts perpetrated by recently deceased individuals who continue to walk the earth.
31:32One famous tale is in 1674, a Polish man rose from the dead and he was going around sucking the blood of his neighbors.
31:40His nocturnal wanderings only stopped when the body was decapitated.
31:44Historians suggest materials made of iron, like the small lock, were used to keep members of the undead at bay.
31:51There are hundreds of burials like this across the Baltic states, in Poland, in Bulgaria, and in other areas.
31:59Vampire burials were so pervasive at this time that officials actually banned them to try to tamp down on the superstitions about the creatures.
32:06However, this is the only time a child has been found buried this way.
32:13Many scholars today believe that the legends we now know as vampires first originated amongst Slavic people as early as the fourth century.
32:21The word vampire itself is thought to be derived from the Latin word impurus, meaning impure or unclean.
32:29Could these remains really belong to early bloodsuckers? Let's see what our experts think.
32:36Archaeologist Dr. Ed Barnhart believes we are seeing what he calls apotropaic burials, burials conducted in a specific manner with the intention of warding off evil.
32:49Practically speaking, shackling someone's toe is not going to prevent them from getting up, but they're talismans.
32:56The material mattered, the placement mattered, but they were basically magic incantations that prevented that body from coming back.
33:07But Barnhart suggests that the reason this child may have been considered a revenant-like vampire could be due to ignorance of a more real-world condition.
33:16Somehow or another, these people were mistreated or misunderstood.
33:21Perhaps they had a mental illness that people didn't sympathize with, but the remedy was always the same.
33:28Keep that body in its grave. Make sure that it can't wriggle out of the dirt and come for us.
33:35Anthropologist Kathy Strain adds that sometimes just getting sick and dying could provoke this extreme reaction.
33:41During the time of the plague, they probably overreacted in fear, and that might be what we're seeing here.
33:48It logically makes sense to me that the six-year-old was probably targeted because he was sick first, and they wanted to make sure that whatever it is that he had didn't spread.
33:59Our verdict? We're going with superstitious burial.
34:07There has never been tangible proof over the last several centuries to establish the existence of revenant-like vampires.
34:14But whatever was going on with this child spooked these people enough to bury him in this way.
34:20We end tonight with a disturbing piece of video out of Poland.
34:29As we mentioned earlier, many European countries are showing a steady increase in reports of supposed demonic possession.
34:35And in this case, the local cops had to get involved.
34:39We're in Poland again, but this story is much more recent.
34:42It's New Year's Eve 2022 in the village of Grubsko.
34:46Three local policemen are dispatched to a house after receiving a phone call from a disturbed neighbor who claims to be hearing strange noises coming from within.
34:56This horrifying video has been verified as real by the Polish police.
35:10Supposedly, these monstrous sounds are coming from a 20-year-old woman named Kamilka, who has barricaded herself inside the attic.
35:17The police attempt to coax her out as she continues to snarl like some type of ferocious beast.
35:30If there was ever such a thing as a classic demonic possession, this would be it.
35:39Clearly, this is somebody who went out of her element, her own personality, and for whatever reason, took on the personality of another.
35:51And while Brooks stresses that this is just a first impression, she says that Poland has become ground zero of sorts in a battle between satanic forces and the religiously devout.
36:03Poland is actually the largest Roman Catholic population in all of Europe.
36:08So there's a concentration of exorcists in Poland about the same number as the whole United States, and yet Poland is only about the size of New Mexico.
36:18Brooks mentions online rumors claim Kamilka had been using a Ouija board with friends earlier that same evening.
36:25There's a very rich and long history associated with the Ouija board.
36:30It became known in the early 20th century as something that would be used as portals to other dimensions in which certain entities can then come through.
36:40There are story after story of nefarious incidents happening, including but not limited to possession as a result of using a Ouija board.
36:50The Ouija board was originally invented as a parlor game in the late 1800s when many Americans became obsessed with the spiritual idea of communicating with the dead.
37:00By the 20th century, it was a tool frequently used by popular occultists like Aleister Crowley.
37:07Many experts believe Ouija boards should not be taken lightly.
37:11These things do communicate with spirits.
37:15The problem being is that one minute you're talking to your wonderful deceased grandmother and the next minute you're talking to a demonic spirit.
37:25So could Kamilka have accidentally opened the door to an evil entity?
37:30And could that explain how a 20-year-old girl can make these inhuman sounds?
37:34Something negative got to this woman.
37:37Something scared her so badly she lost her mind.
37:41Mine have even become possessed.
37:44With more than 150 exorcists currently working in Poland,
37:48the practice has become so popular that the Catholic Church has approved plans for an exorcism center in the country's city of Katowice.
37:57It's described as a place where priests will be able to hone and perfect their exorcism skills.
38:02So are we witnessing an actual case of demonic possession in this video?
38:07Or is there something else going on?
38:10We turn to our experts.
38:11As we did in our other investigations into demonic possession,
38:18we checked in with our forensic audio analysts to see if these sounds were even human.
38:26For a normal speech sound or even somebody yelling,
38:29we expect that the fundamental frequency is probably in the range of perhaps 200 hertz, 250 hertz.
38:36But with this growl sound, there's a lot of energy right around 1,000 hertz.
38:43So does that mean these vocalizations are truly inhuman?
38:46Not necessarily.
38:48If we look at a recording that has been made of a voice actor,
38:51we see again that we have this energy located in the spectrum up at around 1,000 hertz,
39:01which is what we also heard in the sound from the recording scene.
39:05So it's plausible that a human being would be able to make that shriek sound.
39:16Okay, so nothing inhuman about these sounds.
39:19Psychiatrist and demonic possession expert Richard Gallagher
39:22is also conflicted on this being real evidence of an actual possession.
39:26There is some suggestive sign that that's a possibility,
39:30but you'd need a lot more evidence.
39:32I would want to know much more about this woman's background.
39:35Interview people who know her and find out more about her history.
39:40Almost all the time, if you get all the facts of the case,
39:44you can make a discernment one way or the other.
39:47And while many of the facts remain shrouded in mystery,
39:50authorities confirmed that the woman in this video was eventually checked into a hospital.
39:55Whenever a young person presents to the hospital with bizarre behavior,
39:59illicit drug use has to be high up on your list of differentials.
40:04It's not uncommon for people to be like this in hospital.
40:07If we were to witness that in the emergency department,
40:10it wouldn't even be the most crazy story of the week.
40:14I think this footage conjures up the idea of a horror movie.
40:19But based on the limited evidence,
40:21there's no clear understanding of exactly what's gone on here.
40:29Our verdict? We're saying this is unexplained.
40:32On one hand, this video doesn't satisfy any of the verifiable signs of possession,
40:37according to our experts.
40:39Yet when we dug further, the authorities refused to elaborate.
40:43Rather than just debunking it, which seems odd to some.
40:47So as of today, Camilka's story is still an open case.
40:52And that's our episode for tonight.
40:54Although many believe the devil's presence continues to grow within modern society,
40:58much of what we found appears to be hoaxes or misjudgments rooted in faith-based ideas.
41:05However, there are still a couple of cases we just can't explain.
41:10Thank you so much for watching.
41:12And as always, keep those cameras rolling.
41:15The news has started.
