Maa is a heartfelt 2025 Hindi full-length family drama that weaves together themes of motherhood, medical ethics, corporate influence and community resilience. Set in a small Indian town, the story centers on Dr. Amit Sharma (Sohum Shah), a devoted surgeon whose dedication to saving lives is tested when his young niece falls critically ill due to suspected tainted medicines.

Amit lives with his wife Meera (Katrina Kaif), a passionate school teacher who anchors the family with love and moral strength. Their bond is tested as medical complications reveal a deeper crisis—a pharmaceutical company, led by Archibald Fernandes (Sharad Kelkar), has allegedly supplied adulterated drugs affecting children across the region.

Determined to uncover the truth, Amit partners with his sister Shruti (Shweta Tripathi), an activist who raises public awareness and rallies local parents. Together, they confront corporate malpractice, institutional apathy and community fears. The storyline intensifies when Inspector Vikram Singh (Nawazuddin Siddiqui) steps in, torn between enforcing the law and protecting his own reputation in a town dominated by powerful interests.

As Amit races against time, he relies on help from Dr. Nalini (Tanushree Dutta), a close colleague who supports him discreetly, and Professor Singh (Rajpal Yadav), a wise mentor offering counsel. Grandfather Sharma (Raghuvir Yadav) provides emotional grounding, representing generational values and community unity.

Directed by Amrita Singh, the film balances intimate family moments with high-stakes drama. Cinematographer Mitesh Mirchandani captures small-town life and hospital tension with visual sensitivity, while editor Antara Lahiri maintains a deliberate narrative flow that heightens both emotional beats and investigative suspense. Music by Anupam Roy weaves together haunting melodies and hopeful rhythms, mirroring the family's journey from despair to solidarity.

Maa explores profound themes: the sanctity of motherhood, the ethical responsibilities of medicine, and ordinary people standing up to corporate exploitation. It portrays how familial love intersects with civic courage when a community unites to uphold justice. The story’s emotional core—the bond between Dr. Amit, Meera, and their niece—resonates strongly, making the conflict against corporate wrongdoing all the more personal and compelling.

The film concludes with a powerful resolution: the pharmaceutical malpractices are exposed, responsible parties held accountable, and community trust restored. But more importantly, Amit and Meera find strength in the collective unity they fostered, honoring the real essence of “Maa”—the mother who inspires both love and resilience in the face of adversity.
