00:00Welcome to ETB Bhaar. This is Amir Tantri from Dhadkai village of Gundo area in District Doda.
00:08This village is called the Silent Village of India.
00:16Dhadkai, the Silent Village of India is situated on a hilltop with steep slopes in Gundo region of District Doda
00:25which has got this tag because of giving birth to special children having the deficiency of hearing and speaking.
00:32This village which is home to around 1500 people has the publisher of around 100 such souls.
00:40This village has got the tag because of its unique characteristics of giving birth to deaf and dumb
00:47which had started more than 8 decades ago when their forefathers were born with this deficiency.
00:53Even though many old people are dead, it was inherited by the generation which still runs in some of their children.
01:01This village is home to around 1500 souls and almost every family has a child or two born with this deficiency of being mute and deaf.
01:10It is not that deaf and dumb only give birth to special children but normal parents at times give birth to such children
01:17and sometimes special parents give birth to normal children.
01:20The ETB Bharat team visited this village and was able to meet one such person, Muhammad Yusuf, who is in his forties and has all the talent of reading and writing and all the skills to do any work of our labor.
01:45But due to known availability of opportunities and stigma of being a deaf and dumb person,
01:53he did not marry and remained confined to help his family in household works.
01:58With the help of a translator, Yusuf said that in absence of road connectivity to the area,
02:04he loads food and other items on his shoulder and bag and tracks for hours together to reach home.
02:11He communicated his name by writing on a piece of paper in Urdu and also noted on the name of his family members and the village he lives in.
02:20He mingles with the villagers and shares his sufferings and at times spends quality time by communicating in his own style for hours together.
02:36People also give him patient hearing and try to figure out as what he is trying to see.
02:42For the last 15 to 20 years, many people were born with such a deficiency.
02:50But for last few years, there was a downward trend which was giving hope to the people that they may get rid of this stigma.
02:58But all their hopes were shattered as during last year, four more such children were born in this village.
03:05Talking to ETV Bharat, one such father, Gulam Nabi, who had six children.
03:11Three were born normal and three special, but one among them died in his early years.
03:17He spoke his heart out about the current situation.
03:21Gulam Nabi, do you have any death in your family?
03:25Yes sir, I live in two or three children.
03:27There is a child or two children.
03:29If a child has died, then there is a child.
03:31So how did you know when he was born in death in your family?
03:35And when did you know when he was born?
03:36When he was born, then after two or four days,
03:38or at the same time when he was born, his voice is different from normal children.
03:42He has a little sound like this, but he has a little bit of a different name.
03:47The other child has a little bit of a different voice.
03:50How many children have you?
03:52I have a total of five children.
03:53So three children are normal and two different names.
03:58And one of them is a child.
04:00So does he have a problem that you have to do special treatment for them?
04:08Yes, there is a problem.
04:09Oh, there are a lot of bad that is, there is a problem there.
04:12The other one cannot go after their own,
04:14and there is a problem too.
04:15Oh, there is a problem,
04:16and there is a problem coming from others
04:18Ah, I don't know.
04:19But then, there is nothing to do with it.
04:20What's the problem doing now?
04:22Yes.
04:23You give this idea to them by government India
04:26what needs to do?
04:27Yeah, what needs to do with it?
04:29The only thing has to do with it.
04:30It's simply right.
04:31We all can do something.
04:32The talent has a lot of good.
04:34But no one does it.
04:35The talent doesn't ever have to do anything.
04:36So if there are any such a scheme or tailoring or some of the people who are living in government,
04:41if there are any other people who are living in government,
04:43then they can also be able to take their own time.
04:45The problem is that many people have created a referendum.
04:51Let me tell you about the history of what it is and why it is created.
04:56What are the problems of one family or different families?
05:02We have no idea. We have no idea.
05:06We have been searching for 10 years.
05:08We have been searching for many of our chairmen.
05:10We have been testing, testing, testing and testing.
05:14But we have no idea.
05:16We have been searching for 90 years before.
05:20We have been searching for 70-70 years.
05:24So today we have been working for 10-12 years.
05:28We have been searching for 10-12 years.
05:34But there are even more people who are living in the same class.
05:38There is no mind of their friends.
05:40For both of us, our children's life has been working for 10-12 years.
05:43If the parents have been within the same class,
05:45we have been asking for 10-15 years since the child.
05:47So they have no idea.
05:49They have no idea.
05:51However, in our case, we have no idea.
05:53government has been sent to research for doctors and teams.
05:59There are many researches, but there is no one can tell.
06:02Some people say that they are doing research,
06:04they are doing research, they are doing research,
06:06but they are also doing research.
06:08They are doing research on research,
06:10and they are doing research on research on research.
06:13So what could happen?
06:15If there is a medical issue,
06:19there is a medical issue.
06:21There is a medical issue.
06:23There is a medical issue.
06:25There is a medical issue.
06:27There is a medical issue.
06:29Is there a medical issue in your family?
06:31Yes, my little brother.
06:33His name is Tariq Hussain.
06:35When did you know that it was a medical issue?
06:39He was a little.
06:41When he was a child for two months,
06:43he was a little jealous of his children from normal children.
06:47If there is a medical issue,
06:49if there is a medical issue,
06:51if there is a medical issue,
06:53there is a medical issue.
06:55But he did not do this.
06:57And his parents have given this advice
06:59that he is a medical issue.
07:01So the most problems,
07:03because of the time,
07:05there is a medical issue here,
07:07is a medical issue.
07:09How does it work?
07:11It is a big issue.
07:13There are many people who have died
07:15in this family.
07:17They must not be a medical issue.
07:19They must not be a medical issue.
07:21They must not be a medical issue for the annual school.
07:23And there is no family.
07:25They must be a medical issue.
07:27They must not have much jobs.
07:29This is the medical issue for them,
07:31in which the people who can have their life,
07:33and they should have a medical issue.
07:35and they can live their lives in a day and day.
07:39So, there is no skill to develop their children.
07:44If there is no skill, then they can go through their lives easily.
07:49But there is no skill to be there.
07:51This stigma is in your head,
07:53that is the silent village of India.
07:58How many problems do you have here?
08:01How many problems do you have here?
08:03Look, the biggest problem is that when we have a relationship,
08:09when we have a child,
08:12everyone stays in this idea that our new baby is deep and deep.
08:18Even though the children in which they have deep and mute,
08:23they have to be a need for their relationship,
08:27and when they have a relationship,
08:30So then, when the child goes to the house, where there is a relationship,
08:36there is also a problem that the children who come to the house,
08:40will be gentically.
08:43This is a harassment.
08:45If there is another relationship,
08:47if there is another relationship,
08:49there is also a tag that will be different,
08:53if there is a gentically disorder,
08:55a new child will be different.
08:57Which kind of talent do you have?
09:00Because you have to relate to this village,
09:03these children are deaf and dumb.
09:06What kind of talents do you see?
09:08They can become more of a daily life.
09:12Look, my cousin is deaf and mute here.
09:16He is a very big wrestler from the district level.
09:19You have also seen him.
09:21In wrestling and sports,
09:24in games and sports,
09:25these children can be very advanced.
09:27And others,
09:28like the clothes and clothes,
09:31they can become a good carpenter.
09:33They can become a good carpenter.
09:34They can become a good carpenter.
09:35They can become a good carpenter.
09:36If they can develop skills in this way,
09:38these children will be very advanced.
09:44Standing under this national flag,
09:46ETV Bharat reassured to the people of Dadgai village,
09:50who have a stigma of being mute and deaf.
09:56They only want the stigma to be erased forever.
10:01But they need help of people of India and government of India.
10:05They have expressed their opinion that despite many attempts,
10:09despite bringing experts here,
10:12they haven't been able to detect the problem
10:15why their children are born deaf and dumb.
10:18They have requested the government to do something for them
10:22because they want to get rid of the stigma.
10:25This is Amir Tantri for ETV Bharat
10:28from Dadgai village up to Adhadi.
