Doncaster Free Press Daily Bulletin with Stephanie Bateman - Tuesday July 15, 2025.
Transcript
00:00Good morning, it's Steph at the Doncaster Free Press and it's Tuesday, July the 15th,
00:04bringing you some of our top headlines today. First of all, a piece I sent out yesterday,
00:08there was a fundraiser taking place after a Doncaster dad had a seizure and had to be rushed
00:15to A&E where they found he suffered from this seizure due to a benign, thankfully, brain glioma.
00:23It's currently all under review, the doctors are looking at it, but in the meantime he's not able
00:27to work and his mum has set up a GoFundMe due to the fact that she doesn't want him or his partner
00:36to have to worry about money while he's hospitalised and being looked after. They've
00:41also got a little baby as well, so there is a link to that GoFundMe, it is over their fundraising
00:47target already, which is amazing, but you can find out all about what's happened to him
00:52and help out if you wish to. Then something that the police sent out late yesterday, they're
00:59appealing for a cyclist to come forward following a fatal collision in which a 55-year-old pedestrian
01:04died in Doncaster. The pedestrian was hit by a vehicle, but CCTV footage at the time shows a cyclist
01:13in the area and they're just wanting him to come forward to see if they have any information
01:17information with relation to that incident. Again, if you can help out there, please have
01:23a look at that story. There are some contact details for the police on there for you to
01:30take a look at and get in touch.
01:33Then we've had a couple of pieces following the host pipe ban. One that I did just before
01:39the weekend that's still doing well where one resident has asked Yorkshire Water to lead
01:44by example, as the host pipe ban came into place, they were complaining about a water
01:50leak that has been going on for some time in their area. It's one of quite a few across
01:55the city as I'm sure you're all aware. So we've got some comments from Yorkshire Water
01:59about what they're trying to do to deal with the leaks where obviously they're losing a lot
02:06of water. And then also someone reported at Doncaster Council when they saw a worker spotting
02:15using a host pipe on the first day of the ban. There are some exemptions in place for the
02:20host pipe ban. Council's been one of them, but there are some stipulations attached to
02:25that. So if you want to read more about it, it's all on our websites today, which is www.doncasterfreepress.co.uk
02:33and of course Facebook and X. And I hope you have a bit cooler Tuesday.
