00:14People just think I was a bad man, totally out of contact with reality, which wasn't the case.

00:19But I've always had a wild imagination.

00:33I'm afraid to be in this neighborhood.

00:34Young people in pairs are getting shot.

00:37People have not gone out of their houses.

00:39Our jaws dropped.

00:40He's warning us he's going to do it again.

00:42There weren't crazy letters.

00:44The letters were to spur the police on.

00:46He's taunting the police.

00:48He's taunting all of New York.

00:49Try to catch me if you can.

00:54Berkowitz says, I guess the press is waiting with their cameras.

00:58He's going to serve a life sentence in jail.

01:04As a prison reporter, I wanted to understand how a human mind spirals out of control.

01:11I didn't really belong in the world.

01:14I wanted to be somebody.

01:15I wanted to be needed by somebody.

01:19And became angry.

01:21It's just built up.

01:22It's like a volcano erupting.

01:24That was me.

01:24He could always fool people with his face and his smile.

01:29It hid the inner demons.

01:33I was out every night like clockwork committing my crimes.

01:36And I get up and go to work like nothing ever happened.

01:39It's been nearly 50 years since this happened.

01:43More things are coming out now.

01:44A new development absolutely blew me away.

01:47I see him now.

01:48Those blue eyes are shining.

01:5047 years later, it's still right here for all of us.

01:55I had so much anger that one attack against society wasn't going to extinguish it.
