00:00:00The End
00:01:00In that vast expanse of rich country, west of the Mississippi to the Pacific, the American Indian rules supreme.
00:01:27That is, until the coming of the white man.
00:01:31They came in wagons and on foot with all their worldly possessions.
00:01:37These people, the pioneers of our golden west.
00:01:41Time and distance were so great as they plotted on to their destination that often with the dawn came the cry of new life.
00:01:49As each day neared the end, there were many tired and toil-worn people.
00:01:56The circle camp was set up for the coming night in hope of rest and protection from the dangers that lurked in this new land.
00:02:03So far from their home, they had left behind.
00:02:07All this happened before the eyes of the red man.
00:02:13The American Indian saw a new people entering the lands he had known as his own.
00:02:18Some were friendly, some were hostile, and some moved on.
00:02:24Another morning, each day brought new hardships and toil, a burden that would have crushed weaker spirits.
00:02:34But for some, there was no morning.
00:02:37Their journey ended before their destination was reached.
00:02:39All who ventured west encountered the hazards of sickness, violence, hunger, and thirst.
00:02:46Only the stronger, with saddened hearts, moved on.
00:02:51Others perished, leaving no history of their passing.
00:02:56The only evidence of their fate is what the buzzards left.
00:03:01As the west developed, the cavalry often came to the rescue of the distressed,
00:03:06restoring peace where there was neither law nor order.
00:03:08Soldiers and scouts, such as Daniel Boone, Lewis and Clark, Pike, Crockett,
00:03:14Fremont, Kip Carson, Custer.
00:03:17These men made the journey of our pioneers less hazardous.
00:03:22The trailblazers of the west were these pioneers that helped make our country what it is today.
00:03:27Farmers, traders, trappers, craftsmen, missionaries, soldiers, and scouts.
00:03:34Men and women who dreamed of a better world in which to live.
00:03:37The scouts protected the migration of livestock, where it was most needed.
00:03:46A friend, both to the white man and Indian, one of the foremost scouts was William Cody,
00:03:53better known as Buffalo Bill.
00:03:56The first chance I get, I'm through.
00:04:04I'm through, I'll tell you.
00:04:05There's your chance, Cactus.
00:04:16Oh, now, Bill, don't be too racy.
00:04:25Besides, I don't think that flagging train's going in my direction.
00:04:28Direction or no direction.
00:04:30You still make a good nursemaid to a calf.
00:04:31Yeah, well, Bill, I didn't mind fighting Indians with you.
00:04:35I didn't mind crossing the Great Divide.
00:04:37But when it comes to being nursemaid to a journey north and calf, I'm going to draw the line.
00:04:42Maybe you look like a motherly type.
00:04:45Hey, you forgot to burp it.
00:04:47Oh, Bill.
00:04:49Look, Indians.
00:04:50They're going to attack the wagon train.
00:04:57Let's get to our horses.
00:05:20Let's get to our horses.
00:05:50Let's get to our horses.
00:06:20Let's get to our horses.

00:06:40Let's get to our horses.
00:06:41Let's get to our horses.
00:06:42Let's get to our horses.
00:06:43Let's get to our horses.
00:06:44Let's get to our horses.
00:06:45Watch yourself! Look!
00:06:59What is it?
00:07:01Females!
00:07:02Females!
00:07:04This must be a marion plane!
00:07:15Come in!
00:07:18You have to go.
00:07:21I don't know.
00:07:24There are no squad.
00:07:27There are no squad!
00:07:31This must be a fan.
00:07:34I need to try to weld till it's five.
00:07:37I'll do this again.
00:07:38You both need me!
00:07:40You don't need me!
00:07:43You won't need me!
00:07:44Go, go, go!
00:08:14That's pretty good shooting for a female, ma'am.
00:08:35Well, there ain't no doubt about you. Critter as big as you couldn't be a woman.
00:08:39Oh, you think I am too big, moron? What do you want?
00:08:43Skin and gold? You have nothing but a skinny man.
00:08:47Oh, you crap! What a man!
00:08:52That woman is a woman!
00:08:54Maria is our cook. She's been with us for years. And there's a better shot than most of us.
00:09:04I can understand Maria wearing a dress. This is the first time I've ever seen soldiers in skirts.
00:09:09My name is Bill Cody.
00:09:11Buffalo Bill!
00:09:12Well, this is a pleasure. I'm Lieutenant Bryan in charge of the post at Fort Randall.
00:09:16I guess you're wondering about a little masquerade. The settlers here about left us for protection.
00:09:21There's been four wagon train attacks in the past two weeks.
00:09:24We thought we'd give those two something that looked like easy picking.
00:09:28The sheriff of Sue has found a peace treaty with us.
00:09:31I was there in White Cloud, and the other chiefs agreed to the truth.
00:09:33Yes, I know. But you can see how they keep their treaties.
00:09:36I don't know. There's something strange about this attack.
00:09:39What do you mean?
00:09:41Look out there.
00:09:43There are no dead or wounded Indians.
00:09:46In all my years of an Indian fighter, I've never seen redskins pick up their wounded and dead.
00:09:51Neither have I.
00:09:53Sir, we're ready for move.
00:09:55Fine.
00:09:57We'd be proud to have you accompany us to Fort Randall.
00:10:00That's right, Lieutenant, but we haven't heard of cattle to deliver to White Cloud and their tires.
00:10:03Cattle for White Cloud?
00:10:06You see, the treaty calls for the government to deliver these cattle to the Indians.
00:10:09That means trouble.
00:10:10Oh, what do you mean?
00:10:11You'll have to drive them through Fort Randall.
00:10:13Folks there feel that the Sioux should be run out of this country, not fed.
00:10:18Until I receive orders to the contrary, White Cloud gets these cattle.
00:10:22I'll see you in time, Lieutenant.
00:10:24Jackers, come on.
00:10:43Southie, that was a trap down there.
00:10:44Suppose you know what you were doing.
00:10:45I had it straight on the other wagon trains.
00:10:46You think if I knew they were dressed up like women I'd stick my neck out?
00:10:47You're supposed to know.
00:10:48That's why I'm paying you.
00:10:49Who are those men that rode in to help the White Indians?
00:10:50I recognize one of them.
00:10:51Buffalo Bill.
00:10:52He's bringing in the treaty cattle.
00:10:53If the other gets them to White Cloud, we'll never get the Indians off the land.
00:10:56You want me and the boys to stop them?
00:10:57I've got one of them.
00:10:58I've got one of them.
00:10:59Who are those men that rode in to help the white Indians?
00:11:01I recognize one of them.
00:11:03Buffalo Bill.
00:11:04He's bringing in a treaty cattle.
00:11:06If the other gets them to white crowd, we'll never get the Indians off the land.
00:11:09You want me and the boys to stop them?
00:11:12I've got a better idea.
00:11:14Where's Running Deer?
00:11:15He left with the other Indians right after the attack.
00:11:18The good citizens won't like the idea of cattle being given to Indians who are massacring wagon trains.
00:11:24As soon as you men finish dressing, get into town and spread the news.
00:11:29I guess the lieutenant was right.
00:11:55Let's ride in and see what it's all about.
00:11:59You folks are going to have to move aside.
00:12:11I've got a herd of cattle coming through.
00:12:13You're mistaken, Mr. Buffalo Bill.
00:12:15You're not going to deliver any cattle to those bloodthirsty Indians.
00:12:20Go back and tell the boys to stop the herd.
00:12:22I'm sorry to disagree with you, ma'am.
00:12:27But it's my job to see that our treaty with White Cloud is fulfilled.
00:12:30Well, then why doesn't White Cloud live up to it?
00:12:33His Indians have been attacking white men.
00:12:35Only last week, my father was wounded and barely got away with his life.
00:12:38There's no proof they were White Cloud's grave.
00:12:41My father's wounds are proof enough.
00:12:43Anybody can tell they were Sioux.
00:12:45I've never seen Sioux fight the way they did today.
00:12:48It's just not Indian style.
00:12:50Now, please clear the way.
00:12:52Those cattle have to go through.
00:12:54They'll have to go through these first.
00:12:55They're not going to work hard.
00:13:09Get in there!
00:13:16Come on!
00:13:17Come on!
00:13:18Come on!
00:13:18Come on!
00:13:19Come on!
00:13:25What's the matter with you?
00:13:38Hey!
00:13:39A few more tell you they collied the point.
00:13:55Hold it, Blake.
00:14:11All right, everybody.
00:14:12Disperse.
00:14:13Go about your business.
00:14:16You forget, Blake, this town is under martial law.
00:14:19Martial law?
00:14:20All you and your fancy blue legs have done is ride around and look pretty.
00:14:24That very in detail for Corporal Small this morning didn't look so pretty.
00:14:28Further bloodshed won't solve any problems.
00:14:30We'll reach a peaceful decision.
00:14:33All right, Lieutenant.
00:14:34We know you've got a job to do, but if your method fails, we'll try ours.
00:14:40I know you've got your orders, Bill.
00:14:42But there's no denying the fact that you trust these redskins a lot more than I do.
00:14:45I know them a lot better than you do.
00:14:47That's true.
00:14:48But I can't sit idly by while attacks happen every day.
00:14:51Before you take any action, Lieutenant,
00:14:52let me go and see Whitecloud.
00:14:55If I find the Sioux really is causing this trouble,
00:14:58I'm with you all the way.
00:15:00All right.
00:15:00That's fair enough.
00:15:01Let the cattle stay here until you prove that the Sioux are innocent.
00:15:05All right.
00:15:06We'll bed the cattle down outside of town.
00:15:08You give them back my stone!
00:15:10Get out of here, kid!
00:15:11You give them back my stone!
00:15:16What's going on here?
00:15:17You take my yellow stone!
00:15:21I want them back!
00:15:23You got that stone?
00:15:24No, I threw away a long time ago.
00:15:28Hey, Captain, let me have your harmonica.
00:15:30Huh?
00:15:31Come on.
00:15:33Pint feathers.
00:15:34How would you like this?
00:15:35Hey, that's my harmonica, Bill!
00:15:40Me no life!
00:15:41What'd you expect to come out, Yankee Doodle?
00:15:44Okay, Bill, you and Cactus can get cleaned up at the post.
00:15:47Thanks, Lieutenant.
00:15:51Lieutenant.
00:15:53I have nothing further to say to you,
00:15:55as long as you're in that uniform.
00:15:56I can't understand you.
00:15:59When we first became engaged, you were proud of my uniform.
00:16:03That was before I learned the full meanings of the words,
00:16:06Army-wise.
00:16:07I don't want to sit home each time you go out and patrol
00:16:09and wonder whether or not you're coming back alive.
00:16:12But I'm a soldier.
00:16:13It's my job.
00:16:15Father offered you a job as wagon master last month.
00:16:18But you had to rejoin the cavalry.
00:16:20Just exactly like Corporal Smalls.
00:16:23Did you see his widow this morning?
00:16:26I did.
00:16:27I had to break the news to her.
00:16:30Can't you just picture somebody breaking the news to me?
00:16:33About you.
00:16:35Goodbye, Lieutenant.
00:16:42If Buffalo Bill and that partner of his get the white cloud,
00:16:45they may learn that Yellowstone is gold.
00:16:47I don't see how.
00:16:48Even the Sioux don't know that there's gold on their land.
00:16:50They don't know now, but if that treaty's fulfilled,
00:16:53sooner or later somebody's going to find out.
00:16:54I think we'd better talk to Running, dear.
00:16:58You contact him and meet me at the hideout.
00:17:00Yeah.
00:17:02Two birds with one stone.
00:17:05And not yellow, either.
00:17:07If Buffalo Bill and Cactus are ambushed for red again,
00:17:10it proves to the people here in town that the only good Indians
00:17:13are dead Indians.
00:17:14We're good grub.
00:17:23I'll saddle the horses while you finish eating, catcher.
00:17:26I'll help you, Bill.
00:17:27You eat them root-plateful grubs.
00:17:34Well, to tell you the truth, my boy,
00:17:35I seldom eat very much.
00:17:37I never could stand my own cooking.
00:17:39But when I went on to vittles like this,
00:17:41I just can't stop.
00:17:43If a gal could cook like this,
00:17:45I'd marry her in a minute.
00:17:46I'd go get them.
00:17:47Oh, wait a minute.
00:17:48You mean to say the gal that cooked this food ain't married yet?
00:17:51No, but you want them, husband.
00:17:53Oh, she does, huh?
00:17:55Well, son, is she pretty?
00:17:57Pretty?
00:17:58You know, is she nice-looking?
00:18:00Nice-looking.
00:18:03What's that mean?
00:18:04Eyes that shine like stars.
00:18:06Oh, eyes that shine like stars.
00:18:09Pats and Hota.
00:18:11What's Pats and Hota?
00:18:12Gin like frosted honey.
00:18:14Ooh, gin like frosted honey.
00:18:17There you go again.
00:18:19Now, what does that mean?
00:18:20Looks like a fresh strawberry.
00:18:24Fresh strawberries?
00:18:25Why, she sounds good enough to eat.
00:18:27Why don't you go fetch her, son?
00:18:29You betcha.
00:18:41I think we should be back in a couple of days.
00:18:43Do you want some of my troopers to go with him?
00:18:44No, I'll just take Cactus with him.
00:18:46I'm sorry, Bill, but you'll have to go alone.
00:18:49What do you mean?
00:18:50I'm fixin' to marry and settle down.
00:18:53Oh, eyes that shine like stars.
00:18:56Skin like frosted honey.
00:18:58And little stuff.
00:18:59You love my cooking, no?
00:19:01You're cooking?
00:19:02Gee, pinfellas say you like marry with me.
00:19:05Oh, well, uh...
00:19:07Gee, if you said good, I'd make a good wife.
00:19:10If you settle down, I have many new chances.
00:19:12Oh, well, I'll tell you the truth, ma'am.
00:19:14I'm just a little young to settle down.
00:19:17Hey, Bill, what are we waitin' for?
00:19:19Don't we have to go see White Clyde?
00:19:20He probably won't stop running till he reaches Ogilala Springs.
00:19:31Good luck, Bill.
00:19:33Maria, see?
00:19:36Him come back.
00:19:37You'll get me at my stomach.
00:19:39Oh, see?
00:19:41Oh, no.
00:19:42Oh, no.
00:19:42Oh, no.
00:19:42Oh, no.
00:19:42Oh, no.
00:20:12Here they come.
00:20:20We were to meet again at the sign of the full moon.
00:20:23Why do you send for running deer today?
00:20:24This couldn't wait.
00:20:25All right, Steve.
00:20:26There's a herd of treaty cattle outside of Fort Randall.
00:20:29They're to be given to your people if White Clyde can prove
00:20:32that the Sioux haven't been attacking wagon trains.
00:20:34Who goes to White Clyde for this proof?
00:20:37Buffalo Bill.
00:20:38I know him.
00:20:39He's a white man who brought the promised paper to the Sioux.
00:20:45And if he don't reach White Clyde with that paper,
00:20:47it'll be worthless.
00:20:51Thank you, too.
00:21:09Hey, Bill.
00:21:18How about sending up some smoke signals to White Clyde
00:21:20to sort of let him know we're coming?
00:21:23You know, I'm not anxious for these trigger-happy Indians
00:21:25to see us and figure we're sneaking up on them.
00:21:28All right, Jack.
00:21:29This will make you feel better.
00:21:30Well, the way I figure it is,
00:21:31it's sort of polite to knock before we're entering,
00:21:34especially when you don't know how you're going to be received.
00:21:36We've got to get them brushes.
00:21:38All right.
00:21:39Let's have a look at them.
00:21:40Go ahead.
00:21:40Come.
00:21:55Now we're coming.
00:21:55Let's play around.
00:22:25I sure hope all them braids know how to read this smoke talk.
00:22:38There it is.
00:22:40White Cod welcomes us, and knows we're coming.
00:22:43Now, Bill, are you sure that's what they said?
00:22:46That's what they said, Jacket.
00:22:48Well, I ain't had no learning, but when the smoke all clears away, and maybe your scalp
00:22:53is it, there ain't gonna be no right and left to prove that they said welcome.
00:23:23I knew it.
00:23:24I knew it all the time.
00:23:30You and your smoke signals, Bill.
00:23:31I thought that first puff was a little shaky.
00:23:37I knew it.
00:23:38I knew it all the time.
00:23:39You and your smoke signals, Bill.
00:23:40I thought that first puff was a little shaky.
00:23:44You know, good bunch of thieving poll cats?
00:23:45Blake was right.
00:23:46You can't trust the farmers, Bill.
00:23:47I knew it.
00:23:48I knew it all the time.
00:23:49I knew it.
00:23:50I knew it all the time.
00:23:51You and your smoke signals, Bill.
00:23:52I thought that first puff was a little shaky.
00:23:57You know, good bunch of thieving poll cats?
00:23:58Blake was right.
00:23:59You can't trust the farmers, Bill.
00:24:00It's too narrow, all right.
00:24:01There aren't too many.
00:24:02Just a few.
00:24:04Hey, Bill.
00:24:05You better count again.
00:24:06Oh, to think I could've got married and settled down.
00:24:07So long, Bill.
00:24:08It's been good to know you.
00:24:09I don't understand it.
00:24:10White cloud has never broken his word before.
00:24:11Come on!
00:24:12I can't trust the farmers, Bill.
00:24:14You know, good bunch of thieving poll cats.
00:24:17Blake was right.
00:24:18You can't trust the farmers, Bill.
00:24:19You can't trust the farmers, Bill.
00:24:20Too narrow, all right.
00:24:22There aren't too many.
00:24:23Just a few.
00:24:24Hey, Bill.
00:24:25You better count again.
00:24:26Oh, to think I could've got married and settled down.
00:24:31Well, so long, Bill.
00:24:32It's been good to know you.
00:24:33You don't understand it.
00:24:35White cloud has never broken his word before.
00:24:36That's funny.
00:24:41Looks like our welcome team is leaving us, Bill.
00:24:46That's Waycott himself.
00:24:50Bring back the paceless ones!
00:24:53Phew.
00:24:55That's funny.
00:24:56Looks like our welcome team is leaving us, Bill.
00:25:01That's Waycott himself.
00:25:04Bring back the paceless ones!
00:25:21Phew.
00:25:23The paceless out feels a lot better.
00:25:25Looks like you'll have plenty of time to settle down now, Captain.
00:25:28Yeah, sure does.
00:25:29What?
00:25:30Me settle down?
00:25:31Oh, no, Bill.
00:25:46Greetings White Cloud.
00:25:48White Cloud greets his brothers.
00:25:50Your smoke talk welcomed us.
00:25:52Yet we were attacked by Sioux.
00:25:55The ones who attacked you had lost faith with us.
00:25:59Return to the city of the Sioux in peace, my brothers.
00:26:02Leader!
00:26:03Lead on!
00:26:04Smoke a piece of sweet White Cloud.
00:26:18Smoke a piece of sweet White Cloud.
00:26:19Yet the Indians have been attacking white man's wagon train.
00:26:33White Cloud gives words.
00:26:34He's brave, not paint faces, since he's placed mark on promised paper to wear cattle.
00:26:35The people at Fort Randall do not know White Cloud.
00:26:36They have asked me to get proof that it were not to sue.
00:26:38White men at Fort Randall fear a shadow.
00:26:40The three before you, and others like him, broke my word.
00:26:41You take them to your people.
00:26:42They have broken White Cloud's word.
00:26:43Let them face White Cloud's justice.
00:26:44Let them face White Cloud's justice.
00:26:45Let them face White Cloud's justice.
00:26:46The three before you, and others like him, broke my word.
00:26:50You take them to your people.
00:26:59White men at Fort Randall fear a shadow.
00:27:00The three before you, and others like them, broke my word.
00:27:04You take them to your people.
00:27:06They have broken White Cloud's word.
00:27:07Let them face White Cloud's justice.
00:27:09In the tepees of your fathers they will be wailing for the dead sonite.
00:27:14There will be wailing for the dead tonight.
00:27:22White clouds beat the drums of death too soon.
00:27:26Every Sioux brave has the right to speak.
00:27:34Before the mantle of death covers you, speak so all may hear.
00:27:39I am not a coyote who cries when he is trapped.
00:27:42I will not speak with my hands bound.
00:27:45Give them their hands.
00:27:55Why do my people turn their face from me?
00:27:58I am not their enemy.
00:28:00There is the enemy.
00:28:02His people have driven the buffalo away,
00:28:05and now he comes with white man's cattle
00:28:07to soften the belly of the Sioux
00:28:09and take away the stink of our hearts.
00:28:11The world of the buffalo is gone.
00:28:14We have fought the white man long enough.
00:28:17The war pass is not our answer.
00:28:20We are not squaws.
00:28:21This is the land of the Sioux.
00:28:23Our fathers and their fathers' fathers fought for it
00:28:26long before the white man came.
00:28:28It is better that we die on a war pass than sit here like squaws begging for food.
00:28:35We are not beggars.
00:28:37The white man came to us with promised papers and asked for peace.
00:28:41He who eats of the white man's meat becomes his dog.
00:28:47As long as breath runs in my body, I shall fight the white man.
00:28:52If there are other braves among you who wish to fight with me, I welcome you.
00:28:59If there are none, I'll fight alone.
00:29:04Your days of fighting are finished, Running Deer.
00:29:08You have broken my word and you must die.
00:29:12Running Deer is a warrior.
00:29:14It is not fitting that he be put to death.
00:29:17I ask that he be permitted to live.
00:29:20I will not owe my life to a white man.
00:29:23I know your code, Running Deer.
00:29:32Fight for your life.
00:29:44Fight for your own created.
00:29:51That's a strange.
00:29:57Oh yeah, that's true.
00:30:03You're fine.
00:30:10You're fine, man.
00:30:43I will not owe my life to a white man.
00:30:52You are a brave warrior, Running Deer.
00:30:55I will not take your life.
00:31:01Strike!
00:31:03Strike!
00:31:07Beat the drums of death!
00:31:13Fight the drums!
00:31:34Why do you inflict the wound of mourning on yourself, White Creary?
00:31:37Good morning on your software, Claudio.
00:31:39Running here, my son is dead.
00:32:07Good morning, Claudio.
00:32:37Good morning, Claudio.
00:32:39Good morning, Claudio.
00:32:41Good morning, Claudio.
00:32:43Good morning, Claudio.
00:32:45Good morning, Claudio.
00:32:47Good morning, Claudio.
00:32:49Good morning, Claudio.
00:32:51So the great peacemaker's back, scalp and all.
00:32:54Keep quiet, Skokie.
00:32:56We've been waiting for you to get back.
00:32:58Did you see White Claw?
00:32:59Yes.
00:33:00I'm absolutely certain you have no hand in attacking the wagon train.
00:33:03That's interesting.
00:33:04Have you got any proof?
00:33:05The fact that we're here speaks for itself.
00:33:07Then you had no trouble seeing White Claw?
00:33:10None at all.
00:33:11The two are living up to their end of the treaty.
00:33:17With arrows?
00:33:19The Indian who shot that arrow is dead.
00:33:21Condemned by his own tribe for violating the treaty.
00:33:24With Roman Deer, White Claw's own son.
00:33:27I'm delivering the cattle in the morning.
00:33:30Well, it looks like we're gonna have peace at last.
00:33:33I think this calls for a celebration.
00:33:36And everybody, bring your women, folks.
00:33:39Hurray!
00:33:41Hurray!
00:33:42Hurray!
00:33:49What are we celebrating?
00:33:51Losing that gold?
00:33:54Losing some cattle?
00:33:56And we're celebrating red.
00:33:57On the eve of the reed.
00:33:58Roger or her.
00:33:59Oh, Susana!
00:34:00Don't you stop on me.
00:34:01I don't follow the groundwork.
00:34:02What the hell do I have for you?
00:34:03Is my family?
00:34:04Oh, Susanna, don't you stop on me
00:34:11I came from Alabama with my band you on my knee
00:34:15Oh, Susanna, don't you stop on me
00:34:26I came from Alabama with my band you on my knee
00:34:34Folks, we're going to hear from the Broome Brothers
00:34:40Ray, Lee, and Joe
00:34:41On a very popular number
00:34:43Top goes the weasel
00:35:04We're going to hear from the Broome Brothers
00:35:41Here's the treat we've all been waiting for.
00:35:59Janet is going to sing about her bow and herself on the old Panhandle Trail.
00:36:05Hooray!
00:36:35Here's the treat we've all been waiting for.
00:36:37Here's the treat we've all been waiting for.
00:36:39Here's the treat we've all been waiting for.
00:36:41Here's the treat we've all been waiting for.
00:36:47Here's the treat we've all been waiting for.
00:36:49Here's the treat we've all been waiting for.
00:36:53Here's the treat we've all been waiting for.
00:36:55Here's the treat we've all been waiting for.
00:36:57Here's the treat we've all been waiting for.

00:37:05Here's the treat we've all been waiting for.
00:37:07Here's the treat we've all been waiting for.
00:37:09Here's the treat we've all been waiting for.
00:37:11You sing to me as it's on my old guitar, and we agree.
00:37:41There's love, so there you are, on the old Panhandle Trail, there's a ranch we know for sale, so we're heading for a happy wedding, on the old Panhandle Trail, on the old Panhandle Trail, on the old Panhandle Trail, on the old Panhandle Trail.
00:38:18And with the help of your troops, we should be able to move the cattle faster. White cloths...
00:38:45White cloths...
00:38:47White cloths, wait. I think there's more threatening business...
00:38:51What did you say, Bill?
00:38:52Come on, Lieutenant.
00:38:56I'll do it. Some young lady like you shouldn't be sitting alone.
00:38:59Well, will you join me, Mr. Carty?
00:39:01Thanks.
00:39:02How about Lieutenant Diane? He's available.
00:39:17It's no use, George. We've been all through this before.
00:39:20But, Janet, your objections are no longer valid. The Indians are peaceful.
00:39:23But for how long? Until the next outbreak?
00:39:26No, George. I won't marry a soldier.
00:39:32You'd make a beautiful office this way.
00:39:56Too bad about this man, Lieutenant. Those cattle can be anywhere. They've had all night to disappear.
00:40:06Well, there ain't no tracks to follow here, Bill. This clay is as hard as a rock.
00:40:10We'll have to search anyway, Cactus. Maybe there'll be some tracks further on.
00:40:14I'll take this body back to the force mill. All right, Lieutenant.
00:40:17All right, Lieutenant.
00:40:26Sergeant, help me with this body.
00:40:38Cattle can be anywhere. Maybe there'll be some tracks further on.
00:40:47Here we go.
00:40:59All right.
00:41:05Here we go.
00:41:07Wait here.
00:41:31I'll get a telegram off to Washington to send some more cattle.
00:41:37Did you find the cattle?
00:41:55No, Trace.
00:41:56What's Bill thinking I'm doing?
00:41:57He's sending a telegram trying to get more cattle.
00:42:00How long do you think it'll take for him to get here?
00:42:03Oh, I don't know.
00:42:04It took Bill and me four weeks.
00:42:06Well, there's no telling what'll happen now.
00:42:20White card!
00:42:21White card is coming!
00:42:23White card is coming, Bo!
00:42:25White card!
00:42:26We're near!
00:42:29Hey, white card!
00:42:31White card, Bo!
00:42:32White card's coming!
00:42:34White card!
00:42:35White card!
00:42:36White card!
00:42:37White card!
00:42:38White card!
00:42:39White card!
00:42:40You're eye on the crowd!
00:42:41Don't let anyone shoot!
00:42:43You're eye on the crowd. Don't let anyone shoot.
00:42:55We greet you in peace, old Red Brother.
00:42:58Why does your loss split the earth in anger?
00:43:01White Clouds place his mark on promise paper of Great White Father.
00:43:06For many moons we live in peace.
00:43:09But white man left his promise on paper.
00:43:13I have come to keep the promises.
00:43:15For five moons we wait.
00:43:17Buffalo now gone.
00:43:19Grass brown.
00:43:21My people starve.
00:43:23You not speak with two tongues before.
00:43:26You come, but we not see cattle.
00:43:30They are gone, White Cloud.
00:43:32In the night they ran to the four winds.
00:43:35I have asked a thin writer to tell the Great White Father about this.
00:43:38Jews not eat words.
00:43:41Our children cry.
00:43:44Braves grow lean.
00:43:46We not wait much longer.
00:43:48When third sun hides face behind mountain,
00:43:52and you not bring cattle,
00:43:54I take back my mark from promise paper.
00:43:58If this happens, White Cloud, much blood will be spilled.
00:44:02It will be blood of white man.
00:44:04My braves will ride with spirit of my son running dear.
00:44:08We will drive white man from our land.
00:44:12We will burn his houses.
00:44:14And dust will cover the white man's sign.
00:44:18You must give me time, White Cloud.
00:44:20My mother herd of cattle will be here soon.
00:44:22You must not take back your mark from the paper of promise.
00:44:25Remove the lamp, old brother,
00:44:27and let the earth show no sign.
00:44:29This is my word.
00:44:31When first star shines at end of third sun,
00:44:35and my people still hungry,
00:44:38the Sioux will ride.
00:44:40I, White Cloud, have spoken.
00:44:50That shot may rip cost us our lives.
00:45:11What do you suggest we do?
00:45:13There's only one thing we can do.
00:45:15Fill our end of the treaty.
00:45:17What do you got on your mind, Bill?
00:45:19That buffalo herd we saw four days ago.
00:45:22We can get wagons from Walker.
00:45:24If we're lucky, we can bring back plenty of buffalo meat.
00:45:26Come on, Cactus.
00:45:28Come on, Cactus.
00:45:29Come on, Cactus.
00:45:30Come on.
00:45:31Come on, Cactus.
00:45:32Come on, Cactus.
00:45:33Come on, Cactus.
00:45:34Come on, Cactus.
00:45:35Come on.
00:45:36Come on, Cactus.
00:45:37Come on.
00:45:39Get that Indian paint on you.
00:45:40Follow them.
00:45:41Stay out of sight and let me know when they start to come back.
00:45:43Get that Indian paint on you. Follow them. Stay out of sight. Let me know when they start to come back.
00:45:50Let's get the men together. We're going to play Indian again.
00:46:13Still hungry, Bill. Think I'll get some more grub. Got to put some fat on me, you know. Maria said I was all skin and bones.
00:46:23Well, you're stressing it out, Maria, eh? Oh, Bill.
00:46:29Penny Feather, what are you doing here? Meet them grubs.
00:46:33Well, I can see that. She ain't here, is she?
00:46:37No, she's telling me to check them up on you.
00:46:40Well, the next time you see her, you tell her I already checked them down on her.
00:46:44I'm going to get some more grub.
00:47:10I'm going to get some more grub.
00:47:12I'm going to get some more grub.
00:47:13I'm going to get some more grub.
00:47:14I'm going to get some more grub.
00:47:15I'm going to get some more grub.
00:47:16I'm going to get some more grub.
00:47:17I'm going to get some more grub.
00:47:18I'm going to get some more grub.
00:47:19I'm going to get some more grub.
00:47:20I'm going to get some more grub.
00:47:21I'm going to get some more grub.
00:47:22I'm going to get some more grub.
00:47:23I'm going to get some more grub.
00:47:24I'm going to get some more grub.
00:47:25I'm going to get some more grub.
00:47:26I'm going to get some more grub.
00:47:27I'm going to get some more grub.
00:47:28I'm going to get some more grub.
00:48:29Get the horse.
00:48:30Up you go, Ben Feathered.
00:48:32Take away, Joe!
00:48:46Sue, let's tell them about the buffalo.
00:48:53Hey, that fellow just appeared in a hurry.
00:48:58You sure that was a Sue?
00:49:00There are the hoof prints.
00:49:01It wasn't a Sue, Cactus.
00:49:02It was a white man.
00:49:03It wasn't a Sue, Cactus.
00:49:04It was a white man.
00:49:05We'll move with that shoe there, horses.
00:49:06What do you suppose white men would be posing his end in, sir?
00:49:08I don't know, Cactus.
00:49:09But the Indians who attacked Lieutenant Byron's wagon train
00:49:14certainly didn't act like Indians.
00:49:15Let's get out of here.
00:49:16Let's get out of here.
00:49:17Let's get out of here.
00:49:18Let's get out of here.
00:49:19Let's get out of here.
00:49:20Let's get out of here.
00:49:22Oh, no, sir.
00:49:23Let's get out of here.
00:49:25Let's be back.
00:49:27No, sir.
00:49:28I don't know not a Sue, Cactus.
00:49:30It wasn't a Sue, Cactus.
00:49:32It wasn't a Sue, Cactus.
00:49:34It was a white man.
00:49:35It was a white man.
00:49:36Well, nobody better chew their horses.
00:49:38certainly didn't act like Indians.
00:49:40Let's get out of here.
00:49:51This is my word.
00:49:53When first star shines at end of third sun
00:49:57and my people still hungry, the stew will rise.
00:50:02Tell the tribes of our nation White Cloud summons them.
00:50:09Let our brothers know White Cloud's lance has slipped the earth.
00:50:14He has taken back his mark from promised paper.
00:50:18From this time on,
00:50:21two and white men are no longer at peace.
00:50:32You can see.
00:50:35roars
00:50:38we win
00:50:42roars
00:50:44roars
00:50:50roars
00:50:52roars
00:50:54roars
00:50:56roars
00:50:58I don't know.
00:51:28Park! Parking!
00:52:28Come on!
00:52:30Go, Capito!
00:52:50A running death.
00:52:52The two don't usually do this unless they capture somebody on their land.
00:52:55I wonder what he was doing there.
00:52:57Yeah, but Bill, that's only when they're on the warpath.
00:52:59The sun has gone down three times.
00:53:01White Cloud usually keeps his words.
00:53:03We'd better look through his pockets.
00:53:05There might be some identification.
00:53:07I wonder what he's going to do.
00:53:08I wonder what he's going to do.
00:53:09I wonder what he's going to do.
00:53:11Give me Yellowstone.
00:53:12Same as Stokey take from me.
00:53:15Are you sure?
00:53:16Surely sure.
00:53:17Me find him in Ol' Galala Canyon.
00:53:19That's only a few miles from White Cloud's camp.
00:53:22Stokey and Blake.
00:53:24Does Stokey know where you found in Yellowstone?
00:53:26Sure, me tell him.
00:53:27There's me no giving back the stone.
00:53:29There's your answer for the Indian masquerade.
00:53:31Gold.
00:53:32See that this man is buried.
00:53:34Tell Simpkins to locate Lieutenant Byron in his patrol.
00:53:37I'm going to see White Cloud.
00:53:45Come on, get moving.
00:53:46Cover up my mustache.
00:53:47Get on the face.
00:54:07The Buffalo wagons are on their way back.
00:54:09Where'd you leave them?
00:54:10Over in the Stake Plains.
00:54:11They ought to be at Rimrock Canyon in 24 hours.
00:54:13Good, we'll meet them there.
00:54:14Come on, let's hurry.
00:54:37Ladies, White Cloud.
00:54:40The killer of Buffalo, not welcome in land of the Sioux.
00:54:48I come and peace the castle with White Cloud.
00:54:51There is no peace.
00:54:53Your long hair will hang in my teepee.
00:54:56I am a bloodbather to the Sioux.
00:54:58I have the right to speak.
00:55:00You cover yourself with mantle of our law.
00:55:04You shall speak as did Running Deer.
00:55:06You shall be punished as a Sioux, not white man.
00:55:10My heart is not afraid of White Cloud's gesture.
00:55:13He is bitter because his people go hungry.
00:55:16From beyond those hills, I am bringing six wagons filled with buffalo me.
00:55:20Once you said you were bringing cattle.
00:55:23We never see them.
00:55:25Evil white men stampeded the cattle
00:55:27because they wanted the Sioux driven from their land.
00:55:29All white men are enemies.
00:55:31No, White Cloud.
00:55:33Only those who have known there is much gold on your land.
00:55:36We never see it.
00:55:38The sun has gone down twice since the Sioux caught a white man
00:55:41and punished him with a dragging death.
00:55:43That is so.
00:55:45I took this from his body.
00:55:51The Sioux does not carve the earth for gold.
00:55:59The white man Blake wants this gold.
00:56:01His men dress his Sioux to attack the wagons.
00:56:04I have seen the tracks of one who watched us.
00:56:07If they attack and stop us from bringing you the buffalo meat,
00:56:11no man will trust White Cloud.
00:56:13The great white father will send an army of Blue Shirts
00:56:16to drive the Sioux from his land forever.
00:56:19If this is so, why isn't this man punished?
00:56:22The white man law protects him until we can prove his evil.
00:56:26The white man's law is nothing to the Sioux.
00:56:29Give us Blake.
00:56:30I am sure Blake and his men will attack the wagons.
00:56:33The white cloud in his brains can move like shadows.
00:56:36We need but few.
00:56:38Your skin's still white.
00:56:40Your wagon may be jaws of a trap.
00:56:43I have spoken.
00:56:46Lower drum of death.
00:56:56Kodeshne!
00:57:03...
00:57:23I have one strike.
00:57:26...
00:57:28If I not return, let earth run red with white man's blood.
00:57:49Well, Bill, I see you filled up yourself. Does that mean white clouds blowing to help us?
00:57:53I don't know, Cactus. We just have to keep our powder dry.
00:57:58They ought to be here by now. Make sure you get them all. I don't want any witnesses.
00:58:15They ought to be here by now. Make sure you get them all. I don't want any witnesses.
00:58:21They ought to be here.
00:58:31Set them tough. Set them all.
00:58:33Seven cops, hit them all!
00:59:03Seven cops, hit them all!
