Bill Summerfield, 28, originally of South Africa but now living in England, gives his reaction to his first-ever Twelfth of July in Belfast (2025)

00:00Sir, could you introduce yourself and tell us how today has gone for you?

00:03Yeah, my name is Bill Summerfield.

00:05I was born in South Africa, lived in England now for 20 years.

00:08My father-in-law here is from this area.

00:11He was born and bred here.

00:12So I'm over to see his roots, see the celebrations here.

00:15Lived in England for 20 years.

00:17I've never seen patriotism like this anywhere in England, Scotland, Wales.

00:20So we wanted to come see the marches.

00:22It's been fantastic.

00:24Patriotism on show, you don't see anywhere else in the UK like this.

00:27So it's been classed.

00:28Is this your first Orange Parade?

00:30First Orange Parade.

00:31Won't be the last.

00:32We'll definitely come again.

00:33Terrific.

00:35And what do you make then of the general atmosphere of the place?

00:40Classed, to be honest.

00:41It's all been...

00:42We went to Bonfire last night.

00:45We're on a couple of tours.

00:47Everyone's happy, buzzing.

00:48Here for the same reason.

00:50Again, the patriotism has touched us all, I think.

00:53So yeah, it's been classed, good atmosphere.
