Chaos broke out at an MDMK meeting in Satur after journalist was assaulted and cameras seized while filming empty chairs during party chief Vaiko's hour-long speech. As attendees began leaving, Vaiko allegedly directed party members to stop journalists from capturing the half-empty venue. Several media personnel were manhandled, with at least two regional reporters injured. Vaiko’s son, Durai Vaiko, called the incident unfortunate but blamed a power cut that disrupted catering services for the audience's early exit. The ruling ally DMK has so far remained silent, offering no response or condemnation.

00:07DMK ruling ally beats up a journalist at an event.
00:12Journalist was assaulted for filming MTMDMK event.
00:17Vico orders Carter to snatch the camera from the journalist in question here.
00:22Seen on your screens at this point in time.
00:24After Maharashtra on Neta Thagari, which has now been seen in Tamil Nadu.
00:54I'm here.
01:06I'm here.
01:13I'm here.
01:17They were giving the money back.
01:21Come here. Please remain.
01:24Why are you talking about it?
01:26Why are you talking about it?
01:30Pramod Madhav for more on that.
01:31Pramod, this is Gundagirdi which is being now seen here.
01:35Hooliganism at its peak.
01:37A journalist is getting assaulted for showing that the event had no takers essentially.
01:41Talk to us about what is being said.
01:44What's the kind of action that is going to be taken?
01:47It's quite appalling that a senior leader from the state of Tamil Nadu like Vaiko has behaved in such manners Neha.
01:53Because it's a stage speech and we also have him asking like the skaters.
01:57Kind of like ordering him to snatch away the cameras as well.
01:59What happened is that Vaiko was conducting a meeting in Saathur which is at Virudanagar district.
02:04And while speaking to his skaters some of them actually left the event.
02:07And it is the duty of the journalist to actually see what is happening around.
02:10And these regional journalists were recording it.
02:12This is when he got upset.
02:14You can actually see him visibly yelling at the journalists asking them if they have any sense for showing empty chairs.
02:20And he's ordering his skaters to actually snatch away the cameras and in a kind of way saying that pull the films out of it.
02:25This is like old slang of saying remove the like footage from it and such.
02:29And this is what led to a kind of chaotic situation over there.
02:32And as the journalists were exiting the spot they have reportedly been attacked.
02:36And we are expecting complaints to be filed today as well as Neha.
02:38Right.
02:39Be with us from Narayanthirupati from the Bharatiya Janta party.
02:43Is with us Narayanthirupati.
02:45What's your take on this thagari on the part of Vaiko here and the carder.
02:52They were recording the event which had no takers it seems.
02:55The people had started to leave.
02:57And the journalist was beaten up for doing his job here.
02:59Yes, this is highly ridiculous and this is condemnable.
03:05Mr. Vaiko, a person known to be a very senior politician, behaving like this is absolutely arrogant.
03:13This shows his defeat in politics.
03:15He is a failed politician at his age and for his experience.
03:22The person who came against dynasty politics, came out of DMK for dynasty politics,
03:27he has created again his own bringing his own son, doing the same dynasty politics.
03:33Now he should apologize for bringing his son and also apologize for this severe attack on journalists.
03:40This is highly condemnable.
03:42We need to, we need, we demand action against Mr. Vaiko for instigating this kind of violence against journalists.
03:51You know, at the end of the day, this is a very senior leader who is doing this.
03:55It's rather shameful.
03:56The leader of that stature is, in fact, ordering workers to beat up a journalist.
04:03I mean, what do you expect DMK to do in all of this, really?
04:07DMK will be very happy that Mr. Vaiko has behaved like this.
04:11In fact, Mr. Stalin will be very happy because he had accused Mr. Stalin as a, you know,
04:17murderer against Hadik Basha, you know, during the 2G issue.
04:22So, they will be very happy because a lot of people are joining DMK from MDMK.
04:28So, this is it.
04:29He is a dejecter.
04:30Yeah, yeah, yeah.
04:31Mr. Vaiko is dejected, defeated.
04:34And that is the reason he is behaving like this.
04:36I think he should retire from politics now and say he should feel sorry for bringing his son
04:41and also feel sorry for supporting the DMK for so long.
04:45I think this is what he should retire from politics now.
04:48Thank you for joining in and sharing your views with us.
04:53It's very, very shameful.
04:54A journalist was just simply video recording this event, doing his job,
04:58was asked by Vaiko supporters, the MDMK supporters, the workers of the party to beat up.
05:04The journalist was simply doing his job.
05:07The BJP demanding strictest action possible.
05:11Listen in to what Vaiko said and why and how he got upset there.
05:15Nothing else.
05:20Okay.
05:23What a getaway.
05:24What a very good day.
05:33What a very good day.
05:36What a very good day.
05:38What a very good day.
05:39How very good day.
05:40Go!
05:44I am out of shape.
05:47I am out of shape.
05:49You all have to do it again.
05:55Granddad, he gave us a game.
05:56Why would I get on the road?
06:00You are giving us a wonderful lad today.
06:03I am here.
06:04Please make a good good game.
06:05Why do I do it?
06:08What's wrong with God?
06:10So talk to us, Pramod, about what the journalist is now doing, Pramod.
06:15Given that he's been assaulted, will there be some sort of a formal complaint?
06:19What more can you tell us?
06:21Journalist from the state of Tamil Nadu has condemned this Highness Act
06:24because maybe we could see the actual leader of the party yelling from the state,
06:28claiming that, like, do you have any spells?
06:30And also ordering his cadres to, like, you know, snatch away the cameras.
06:34He's literally telling them to snatch away the cameras and pull the film rolls out of it.
06:37And now what has happened is that two of the journalists have been identified
06:40who have been injured in this particular attack.
06:43They are under treatment and we're expecting the police to go ahead and, like, inquire with them
06:47and formal complaints will be taken today, Sneha.
06:50Journalist, in fact, was roughed up, is what Pramod is telling us.
06:54He's been hurt as well. He's been beaten up by the cadre.
06:57But just as of now, there has Pramod been no action for doing his job,
07:02showing the empty chairs. People were leaving this event.
07:06However, VICO said that he should be, in fact, beaten up and was extremely angry, visibly angry there.
07:12Pramod.
07:14It surely is, Sneha. Like, you could see the witness, actually.
07:16We are not, you know, taking it on account of reporting from any other source
07:20because on this stage, it is VICO, a senior leader, a veteran politician from the state of Tamil Nadu.
07:25He's simply asking the journalist, which means, do you have any sense?
07:29And then he's actually instructing the, you know, he's completely upset because empty chairs were shown.
07:34We've been told that the carers were the ones who actually exited the spot.
07:38So, it's not the journalist's fault who are actually asking the carers to exit the spot or anywhere like that.
07:42But for showing those empty chairs, Michael lost his temper and he instructed the carers,
07:46which went out of hand and his attack has occurred, Sneha.
07:50You know, Pramod, I also want to ask you, what is Zalai DMK saying in all of this, if at all anything?
07:54Well, this is like, this happened yesterday in Sathur, like late night yesterday.
07:59So, we are waiting for any kind of, like, reaction from the DMK because that's the main ally of MDMK in the States, Sneha.
08:07Waiting for a reaction to come in from the DMK.
08:09How would they respond to this thagari from an ally?
08:12There is a big question from Ud Madhav, getting in those details.
08:15Thanking you for the moment.
08:16And saying with thagari of netas, this is an incident that we reported on extensively.
08:29Thug neta's shameful divisive twist to assault.
08:32This is Sanjay Gaikwad.
08:34Defence self-blames South Indian owner.
08:38Gunneta says South Indians can't give good food.
08:41Sena Emile, who was seen assaulting a canteen owner, says South Indians run dance bars, ladies bars.
08:51Gaikwad said a Marathi must run canteen.
08:55Threatens once again.
08:56Fir Marunga is what he said.
08:58Injects Marathi versus South India venom.
09:01Poisonous twist to goon neta assault.
09:04So, he's not just brazening it out.
09:06He's also bringing in a region angle here.
09:09Talking about South Indians not being able to serve good food.
09:13License bhi suspend ho gaya.
09:20Carvai ho rye.
09:21Manager bhi suspend ho gaya.
09:22Manager bhi suspend ho gaya.

10:17The dance bar, ladies bar, this is not our maharashtra, we have also done some dance bar.
10:23The president and the president have all worked in maharashtra.
10:27Today, these people are working here today.
10:30So, today, I am talking about maharashtra's hit.
10:36I want to save millions of people's lives.
10:38You are leaving all these things.
10:41That is our life.
10:43Vidya is getting in more details in conversation with the MLA in question.
10:48Vidya, this is absolutely shocking and shameful.
10:51I mean, he is brazening it out.
10:53He is also talking about the fact that there is a reason to why this canteen was not working right.
10:58Because the man in question running the canteen was a South Indian.
11:01Only Marathis can do this right.
11:03Only Maharashtra can do this right.
11:06So, this is a regional and bizarre sort of a shameful twist also that he is giving to what he did.
11:13In fact, you know, certainly what he is saying again reiterating is that he will beat up if he is not getting good food.
11:24And the worst is when we spoke to his followers, there were a lot of Shiv Sena party workers there as well.
11:30We spoke to them and they also said that, you know, probably he should not have beaten.
11:34But, you know, the food quality, if someone gets a bad quality food, then what should one do?
11:40That's the kind of question that even the Shiv Senaics across his supporters have been saying.
11:45But then certainly, you know, the Maharashtra government as we saw yesterday,
11:49Devendra Pandavas himself had reacted to it and said that, you know, this beating up should not have happened.
11:54But even then, has there been an FIR registered against this beating up? No.
11:59No complaint has been registered.
12:01The Mumbai police has not even taken a super mortal cognizance of this.
12:04Apart from that, the FDA ran into action immediately.
12:08Now, the minister claims that he had given complaints earlier as well.
12:12But because there are, you know, people taking money, that's the reason why bureaucrats don't take action,
12:17is what his allegation in that interview is.
12:19And further, he says that, you know, he has complained earlier.
12:22But FDA did take an action until he beats up people.
12:25And that's one of the reasons why he says that what he did was right.
12:28And FDA now finally has taken action and has, in fact, suspended the license until the, you know,
12:34some kind of tests are run for this entire, you know, the samples that have been collected.
12:40They have been sent to the lab.
12:41The report will come in the next 14, 15 days.
12:43And only then will probably something be done if there is something found in those reports.
12:48So we'll really have to see what really happens fortnight later.
12:51But then as of now, yes, the license of that entire eatery has been suspended.
12:56It's closed for now.
12:57People who work there will no longer be able to work at least there for at least a few fortnight or so.
13:04It's absolutely unbelievable while you tell us that there has been no action taken against this man in question.
13:09He's speaking to us and giving interviews and talking about the fact that this is something that's going to be done again.
13:15It's absolutely shameful.
13:16Be with us.
13:17I'll come back to you in a second.
13:18Listen in once again to what he told you earlier.
13:22It's clear.

14:27we have a dance bar
14:29we have all done
14:30we have all of this work
14:31we have all the work
14:32today we are working
14:35working here
14:36today my story is
14:38I am saying that
14:40you are talking about
14:41hit
14:42you just want to say
14:42that you are doing
14:43you want to be a life
14:44you want to say
14:45you are doing
14:46you are doing
14:47this work
14:48that we are doing
14:50All right, so you heard that from Sanjay Gaikwat, the defiant MLA who says that he's going to do it again if required, Clyde Presto.
14:57Off, in fact, the NCP is now joining us. Thank you so much for your time. This is, of course, the Sharit Pavaar faction.
15:02I want to begin by asking you, what do you make of the fact that this man is just so brazen?
15:07He's not only assaulted the owner of the canteen, he also goes on to give this as, you know, a South Indian kind of a twist,
15:14saying that South Indians aren't capable of running eateries. They are more into dance bars and ladies bars,
15:21and they are the ones who are spoiling the culture, and that this is what he deserved, essentially.
15:25He'll do it again if required.
15:28See, Sanjay Gaikwat is behaving like a gunda. And why he's behaving like a gunda is because he's been given the loose end by the government.
15:35Till today, it's been more than 24 hours. Every channel is showing how this man is beating up an innocent guy.
15:42It's not his fault if there was something wrong, something was not cooked properly.
15:46It was the duty of Sanjay Gaikwat as a public representative to make a formal complaint.
15:52He had no business to take law in his hands. He's not about the law.
15:55Just because he's in government, just because he's in MLA, does that give him the right to take law in his hands?
16:01Nobody is about the law in this land. Remember that.
16:05So if he's doing something like this, he has to be pulled up. He hasn't been pulled up. There's no case lodged against him.
16:10And he has the audacity to say that if something like this happens, I will do it again.
16:15That means he thinks it's above the law.
16:17What is the Home Minister doing? What is the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Mr. Devendra Fadnavi, the Home Minister also, what are they doing?
16:24Why is the case not lodged against him?
16:26And now he's giving it a different color, of a different state, of a different language.
16:30All these years when he was there with him, he was, as a friend, he says this, you know, Mr. Shetty is his friend.
16:36And all this while he never thought of a South Indian angle to this.
16:40And today when he's been pulled up by everybody, he goes ahead and says that, you know, these people are doing whatever they're doing.
16:45And why were you quiet all these years? Have you not been in government for so many years? Why were you quiet?
16:51Nothing but absolute brazenness, thuggery like you've been showing right now on your channel.
16:56This man is a thug and he's only trying to cover up what he has done. This is a violent act.
17:02It deserves punishment and he has to be arrested.
17:05If the Home Minister cannot do this, that means they have failed in maintaining law and order in the state which has happened.
17:11Whether it's the Pune case, whether it's the Wally case, whether it's Badlapur case,
17:15the government of Maharashtra run by the BJP has failed to control law and order.
17:20And an example that needs to be set is by arresting this man is not being done.
17:24In fact, a different example is being set.
17:27The MLA now goes and takes law in his hands. He's being violent. He's beating up people.
17:33Also, the license of the canteen owner has been suspended is what I want to ask you.
17:38And once again, we have this narrative being, you know, woven in in this controversy as well about how Marathis can do it right.
17:46You know, the South Indians in that way are not doing this right.
17:50They're, you know, messing around with the culture of Maharashtra.
17:52So, this narrative again is being brought in by Sanjay Gaikwad.
17:57Sanjay Gaikwad is bringing this narrative only to cover his mistake.
18:01What he has done is a violent act. He's trying to cover it.
18:05An individual who is running the canteen could be anybody.
18:08Yes, it's what the canteen has done or whatever the cooking department has done is wrong.
18:14They cannot serve stale food. But that does not mean it allows anybody to take law in their hands.
18:19There is a process, there is a system.
18:21The food and administration department is part of the Maharashtra government where this MLA belongs.
18:25All he has to do is give a written complaint or talk to the food and administration department.
18:29How can he take law in his hands?
18:31And the failure of the home department to book this person because it's been more than 24 hours this video is going on and nothing has been done.
18:40So, this man thinks he's invincible.
18:41That's right.
18:41He'll continue to do it brazenly.
18:43All right. We'd understand that the canteen owner would have been afraid to, in fact, register some sort of a complaint.
18:49But nothing that stops the administration from taking Suomoto action against him.
18:53I'm going to leave it at that for the moment.
18:54Thank you for joining in with your views.
18:57Listen in once again to how Sanjay Gaikwad is not only brazening it out.
19:02He's also given a divisive angle to this entire controversy.
19:07I'm going to leave it at that point.
19:37I'm going to leave it at that point.
20:07I'm going to leave it at that point.
20:37Lydia, what is the government doing about this entire situation?
20:41How are they explaining, shielding this MLA in question and also suspending the license of the canteen owner here who was at the receiving end, as we can see?
20:49Well, you know, technically, if you look at it, when a fault is found, then when a complaint is generally lodged, then this is exactly what the FDA generally does.
21:03You know, go on collecting samples, check the kitchen and the storerooms of any canteen or a restaurant.
21:10But the point that everyone is really asking is to why is it that this has only happened after this entire slapgate event?
21:17Why doesn't it happen when, say, an armed Mumbaiker actually complains to the FDA?
21:23Do they really take this kind of action even then?
21:25And if not, then why is this kind of an arbitrary action being taken now against this?
21:30Moreover, when we were speaking to a lot of people who were eating there yesterday, they said very clearly that the food was fine.
21:37And they eat there regularly over the years whenever there is a, you know, right now there is a budget session of the assembly going on.
21:43That's the reason many people from across Maharashtra come to Mumbai and eat at that very place because they come with their MLAs or to meet their MLAs.
21:51So, a lot of people do eat at that canteen, which is right next to the Mantralai, which is the administrative hub of this entire state of Maharashtra.
21:58But in spite of all these complaints, as Sanjay Gaikwad himself was saying that I have lodged many complaints, but they did nothing.
22:05So, FDA, does it not take action in other cases?
22:08Why did it not take action earlier?
22:10Because when we had spoken to the FDA officer yesterday, he said very clearly that in February and in April,
22:16hygiene test was done and, you know, certificates have been given to this particular eatery.
22:22Now that there has been a complaint, so they have taken this action.
22:26So, we really have to see exactly as to what this report really comes out, what does it say, you know.
22:31But then certainly the law against this fact that he has beaten up people, that's really not taking place.
22:37That's one question a lot of people are asking about as to why is there no FII.
22:41Now, the Mumbai police has very clearly said that they will not register an FII on their own.
22:46Until and unless someone from the canteen comes.
22:48Now, the people working at the canteen, the people who, the manager of the canteen,
22:52you know, they have very clearly said they do not want to press for this.
22:55They want to continue with their business.
22:56And they are just hoping that the, you know, the lab tests now that have been invoked
23:01and this entire procedure that has started, that really does not come against them
23:05and that the entire reports are fine and that they can start working at least after 14 days,
23:10you know, when the sysons can be renewed.
23:13You know, Vidya, I also want to ask you,
23:15this is a man who has been a habitual offender, isn't it?
23:18Sanjay Gaikwad has been in news for the wrong reasons in the past as well,
23:22including making some very serious and offensive statements
23:26against the now leader of the opposition in Lok Sabah Rahul Gandhi, isn't it?
23:31Yes, you know, this is certainly not.
23:37But, you know, as we have been speaking to his supporters as well,
23:40they said, well, this is the style of Shev Sena,
23:42this is the style of what they have learned from Eknar Shinne
23:46and the Deputy Chief Minister and the Bala Sahib Thakre.
23:49You know, these are the kind of rhetorics that we generally do see.
23:52But certainly it remains that every time this kind of incident,
23:55especially when a video really goes viral,
23:57Sanjay Gaikwad has always stood on that one ground
24:00that what he has done is right.
24:02So he's quite brazen about it.
24:04He's never apologised on any of his actions that we have seen.
24:08And this is probably what, you know, his supporters also,
24:11some of them did agree that he should not have beaten.
24:14But that some of them also gave this reason
24:17that, you know, what should a man do
24:19if he's given rotten food by a restaurant
24:21after working the entire day in Mantralaya.
24:23So there are people...
24:24So there are people who say such kind of,
24:29you know, supporters are there also.
24:33Vidya, be with us.
24:34This is coming back to you in a moment from now.
24:36In fact, we'll listen in once again
24:37to what Sanjay Gaikwad told you
24:39when you were asking him questions
24:40about what he did, why he did.
24:43License v. Suspend ho gaya.
24:47Carvai ho rye.
24:48Manager v. Suspend ho gaya.
24:50Manager v. Suspend ho gaya.
24:51Sabse pehli baat to aapke madhyam se

25:02And I know that my way
25:04my way jantau ki mera tariqa galt tha
25:05lelikin manjil sa hi thi.
25:07Or maan rai ki tariqa galt tha.
25:09Bilkul.
25:10Mujhe kyunki 2-4.
25:11So, aap bolei ki nahi mai phir marunga
25:13agar eesitara kala dhya.
25:14Maai bolna hu.
25:15Aagar ko aisa karanga to mahi phir marunga.
25:17Yeh meh meh dhurao.
25:18Shetty, naami shetty yeh mehra
25:20mtlb mehra dhosa aisa nai
25:22ee ki kumma mehra iska dushman ho.
25:24Lekin usko bhi meneh kai war bataya raha
25:25aapke khani ke quality ba hii

25:28Voh bhi mujhe puchta ta ki
25:29kaisa ra kaisa nahi.
25:31But, maa south ke logo ka
25:34joh tendency ashtak marashto ke prathiy rahi hai.
25:36Dekhiye, pure ladies bar, dance bar

25:41hamaray marashto ke sanskurti kharapkanne ka kama
25:43yun logu nai kiya.
25:44Dance bar, ladies bar
25:45yeh to kai hamaray marashto ke sanskurti nai hii hai.
25:47Iske khilaap me to hamaray eknis shindir sahib nai bhi
25:49kari dance bar toori thay.
25:51Balas sahib nai, raas sahib nai
25:52sabi nai iske khilaap me marashto me kama kama kia hai.
25:55Aaj vohi prarurti lekar
25:56you know vidya continues to be with us.
26:13You know vidya this has been a common refrain of many of these
26:15political leaders, so called political leaders
26:19who are in fact
26:21hooligans really, you know
26:23nothing else, nothing less
26:25nothing more than hooligans
26:26that they keep saying that this is in the
26:29hate of maharashtra. This is in the
26:31interest of the people of maharashtra.
26:33You vandalize the toll plaza, you say they
26:35weren't doing their jobs, right?
26:37This is the tendency and this has always been a common
26:39refrain, isn't it?
26:44In fact, if you look at it
26:45it's across party line
26:47whether be it MNS, I mean remember
26:48June 29th we saw that incident of
26:51the trader being slapped.
26:53Since then, none of the
26:54you know MNS workers or even
26:56any of their leaders have apologized.
26:58In fact, they have gone on to say
27:00that you know if
27:01someone chose this kind of attitude
27:02against Marathi, they will do it more.
27:05So even
27:06recently at a toll plaza when there's
27:08hooliganism and vandalization that happened
27:11you know no one has actually
27:13apologized for what has been done.
27:15In fact, from this stage
27:17we did see Udav Thakri also say
27:19that you know if protecting
27:20Marathi, if we are called
27:23hooligans, we are hooligans.
27:24You know, this kind of narrative
27:26that has been set, especially now that we see
27:29an election now really coming ahead
27:31in the local body elections
27:32that will be happening across Maharashtra.
27:34This is the kind of narrative of violence
27:36and not apologizing for the violence
27:39is something that we'll probably see
27:41in the next couple of months more.
27:43They're getting in those details.
27:44I'm going to leave it at that for the moment
27:46but we are not losing sight of that big story
27:48that we are tracking.
27:48Sanjay Gaikwad there
27:50brazening it out
27:52now giving a divisive South India
27:54twist to this entire
27:56assault saga that we've seen
27:58play out in front of us
28:00to tell our viewers
28:01there's been zero action
28:02that has been taken against
28:03this so-called MLA.
28:05He's a member of the Legislative Assembly
28:08a legislator, a lawmaker
28:09and this is what he does.
28:11More news coming in
28:19and Shashi Tharoor, we are learning
28:21has attacked the Congress
28:22over emergency atrocities.
28:25Indra's emergency eroded freedom.
28:27Tharoor has hit out
28:29at Indra Gandhi's
28:30draconian emergency excesses.
28:33Today's India not like Indra's India.
28:36Must learn from dark chapter
28:37of emergency is what
28:39Shashi Tharoor has now
28:40controversially said
28:41yet another controversial statement.
28:43It has been made something
28:44that the Congress
28:45isn't going to be happy about.
28:48Alright, so this is not
28:50the first time that Tharoor
28:51has said anything
28:52which is going to be
28:52offending the Congress Party
28:53but this one
28:54has got to do with
28:56the position that
28:57the BJP has often taken
29:00against Indra Gandhi
29:02and against emergency.
29:03Tharoor has attacked
29:04the Congress Party
29:05over emergency atrocities.
29:07Talking about the fact
29:08that Indra's emergency
29:10which is Indra Gandhi
29:11the former Prime Minister's
29:13emergency imposition
29:14in the country
29:15eroded freedom
29:16is what he said.
29:18Slamming Indra Gandhi's
29:19draconian emergency
29:20excesses says
29:22today's India
29:23not like Indra's India.
29:26Must learn from the dark
29:27chapter of emergency
29:28says Shashi Tharoor.
29:30We'll be going across
29:31to my colleagues
29:32for more details
29:33on what has he said exactly
29:34and in what context.
29:36but he's clearly said
29:37something that is going
29:38to be offending
29:39the Congress Party
29:40once again.
29:41A string of comments
29:42that have been made
29:43in the past also
29:44with enough indication
29:46and more that he is
29:47leaning towards
29:48the Bharatiya Janata Party
29:49more specifically
29:50towards the Prime Minister.
29:51Modi praising him
29:53in the past
29:53this time around
29:55condemning emergency.
29:58I'm going to go
29:58straight across to
29:59Shibi Moll
30:00for more on that.
30:01Shibi,
30:01what has the Member
30:02of Parliament
30:03from Thiruvanthapuram
30:04he has said exactly
30:05in what context
30:07was he asked
30:08these questions
30:09you know
30:10put this into perspective.
30:12Well,
30:13Sneha has actually
30:14written an article
30:15with the headline
30:16that heeding the lessons
30:17of India's emergency
30:18on the occasion
30:19of the 50 years
30:20of the Indian emergency
30:22which was in force
30:23in 1975.
30:24You know,
30:24it's coming down heavily
30:26on what happened
30:27during the emergency
30:28the cruelty
30:29that took place
30:29during the emergency.
30:31He says that
30:31Prime Minister
30:32the then Prime Minister
30:33Indira Gandhi
30:33insisted that
30:34all these draconian
30:35measures were necessary
30:37and only a state
30:38of emergency
30:39could combat
30:40internal disorder
30:42and external threats
30:42and bring discipline
30:43and efficiency
30:44to a chaotic country.
30:45And then the next paragraph
30:46he goes on to say
30:47that
30:48you know
30:49in the quest
30:49for discipline
30:50and order
30:51what happened
30:53and what followed
30:53was unspeakable cruelty.
30:56He takes the examples
30:57of Sanjay Gandhi's
30:59vast extominion campaign
31:00and says that
31:01it all concentrated
31:03in the poor
31:04and rural areas
31:05and where violence
31:07and many other
31:08you know
31:08draconian measures
31:09were used
31:10to meet arbitrary targets.
31:11So he says
31:12very effectively
31:13very you know
31:14very clearly
31:15that about the cruelty
31:17that took place
31:17during the emergency period.
31:19We don't remember
31:20when was the last time
31:21we saw Congress MP
31:22coming out
31:23and expressing
31:24you know
31:25so openly
31:25about the qualities
31:26and whatever measures
31:28were imposed
31:28during the emergency period.
31:30The one of the other paragraphs
31:32that he
31:32in one of the other paragraphs
31:33he says that
31:34India of today
31:35is completely different
31:36from what it was
31:37in 1975.
31:38He says that
31:39we are today
31:39a more confident
31:40more prosperous
31:41and in many ways
31:42a more robust democracy.
31:44That's the main part here.
31:45And also
31:46but one line
31:47he says in the end
31:48is that
31:48but
31:49the lessons of emergency
31:50should be kept in mind.
31:52Though we have changed a lot
31:53though the country today
31:54is a robust democracy
31:55there are still
31:56you know
31:57measures that can change
31:59the whole thing.
32:00So people who walk
32:01who want democracy
32:02the democratic stalwarts
32:04should keep an eye
32:05on the situation
32:06in the country currently
32:07and not let this fade
32:09is what he says.
32:10So this definitely
32:11raises a lot of questions
32:12to the Congress leadership
32:14and also one more time
32:15raises questions
32:16between the Congress leadership
32:17as well as
32:18the Congress MP
32:19from Sirwantapuram
32:19Shashi Taro.
32:21Be with us.
32:22Coming back to you
32:23in a moment from now
32:23Moshmi also getting
32:24in more details.
32:26Moshmi this is going
32:27to hugely upset
32:28the Congress party
32:29given that now
32:30he's talking about
32:31today's India
32:32is not like Indira's India
32:34heading out
32:34at the former Prime Minister
32:35in a way
32:36talking about the excesses
32:37during emergency
32:38isn't it?
32:41You know
32:41the Congress would not
32:43fail to see
32:44the irony of it all
32:45where you know
32:46the Congress party
32:47is hammering in
32:48on the 11 years
32:49of emergency
32:50and Mr. Tharoor
32:52a Congress MP
32:53is you know
32:55talking about
32:561975
32:57and speaking
32:59about the excesses
33:00that you know
33:01Gandhi's son
33:02Sanjay Gandhi
33:03did and talked
33:04about how you know
33:05in terms of
33:06urban renewal
33:07or family planning
33:08the excesses
33:09were implemented
33:10and people
33:11being snatched away
33:12from their shelters
33:13and
33:14getting in a reaction
33:16also from Tom
33:17Vadakin
33:17of the Bharatiya
33:18Janta party
33:18Tom Vadakin
33:19what's your take
33:20on what Shashita Roor
33:21has said
33:21that this is not
33:23Indira's India
33:24an emergency
33:25eroded
33:25of freedom
33:26he's speaking
33:27about the excesses
33:28during emergency
33:29the fact of the matter
33:31is
33:32the Congress party
33:33itself had told
33:34its spokesmen
33:35at a given time
33:36not to defend
33:38the emergency
33:38but then
33:40under Rahul Gandhi's
33:42leadership
33:42it took a U-turn
33:44and the U-turn
33:46policy is to
33:47praise it
33:48that it is
33:49within the
33:50constitution
33:50and
33:52Sashita Roor
33:54has seen
33:55through all this
33:56and has an
33:57independent mind
33:58he has seen
33:59what actually
34:00happened
34:01and what
34:02continued to happen
34:03and
34:04this whole
34:05business
34:06that it was
34:06within the
34:07constitution
34:08that the
34:08emergency
34:09was asked
34:10and it
34:10was withdrawn
34:11and election
34:12was held
34:13as a whole
34:14voter
34:14the kind
34:15of things
34:15that happened
34:16during that
34:16period
34:17people have
34:18seen it
34:19and people
34:20have lived
34:20through it
34:21so the
34:21reality
34:22will dawn
34:23and at
34:24a given
34:24time
34:25these things
34:26cannot be
34:27you know
34:27put under
34:28the carpet
34:29so it is
34:30essential
34:30that people
34:31do know
34:32about it
34:32if Sashita
34:33Roor
34:33is doing
34:34it
34:34I think
34:35it is
34:36a realization
34:37which
34:38every
34:38congressman
34:39had
34:40and believes
34:41happened
34:42at that
34:42period
34:43all right
34:45what do
34:46you expect
34:46or what
34:47would you
34:47think
34:47that the
34:48congress
34:48would do
34:48given that
34:49these are
34:49statements
34:50you know
34:51made by
34:52Tharoor in
34:52the past
34:53as well
34:53and the
34:53very fact
34:54that he
34:55seems to
34:55be you
34:56know
34:56in perfect
34:57you know
34:58I would say
34:59in line
34:59with what
35:00the BJP
35:00has been
35:01saying
35:01also
35:01all this
35:02while as
35:02far as
35:03emergency
35:03is concerned
35:04and is
35:05leaning
35:05essentially
35:05towards the
35:06prime minister's
35:07policies
35:07his own
35:08policies
35:08this has
35:10nothing to
35:10do with
35:11the BJP
35:11this is
35:12an independent
35:13mind
35:13thinking
35:14has his
35:15own thinking
35:16and believes
35:17what he
35:19sees
35:19and he
35:20knows of
35:20the period
35:21these are
35:22people who
35:22have seen
35:23the time
35:24I have seen
35:25that time
35:26and I know
35:27what happened
35:27during that
35:28period
35:28so it
35:29essentially
35:30comes to
35:30the heart
35:31and you
35:32can't hide
35:32these facts
35:33if BJP
35:34has nothing
35:35to do
35:35with this
35:36or
35:36leaning
35:37to BJP's
35:38policy
35:39this is
35:39the ground
35:40reality
35:40every congressman
35:41knows it
35:42and what
35:43kind of
35:43suffering
35:44people went
35:45through
35:45and how
35:46many people
35:47went to
35:47jail
35:47lakhs of
35:48people
35:48colleges
35:49were raided
35:51and even
35:52classrooms
35:52were raided
35:53and they
35:53were arrested
35:54the entire
35:55country was
35:56converted
35:57into a
35:57jail
35:58democracy
35:59they scream
36:00about democracy
36:01being murdered
36:02democracy
36:03was murdered
36:04and slaughtered
36:05and there
36:05was no
36:06post-mortem
36:06done
36:06at that
36:07period
36:07today
36:08people are
36:09asking
36:09questions
36:10it's a
36:10deserving
36:11question
36:11and answers
36:13need to
36:13come from
36:14Rahul Gandhi
36:14and his
36:15mother
36:15Tom
36:17Wadakin
36:17I'm going to
36:17leave it at
36:18that for the
36:18moment
36:19you heard
36:19from the
36:20Bharatiya
36:20Jinta
36:20Party
36:21spokesperson
36:21Tom
36:22Wadakin
36:22talking about
36:23how the
36:24congress
36:24must have
36:25answers
36:25I'm going to
36:26go back
36:27to Moshmi
36:27for more
36:28details on
36:28that
36:29Moshmi
36:30of course
36:30we were
36:30talking about
36:31how the
36:31congress is
36:31going to
36:32be very
36:32upset
36:32about what
36:33has been
36:34said
36:34as far
36:35as
36:35Shashi
36:36Tharoor
36:36is concerned
36:36correct me
36:37if I'm
36:37wrong
36:37I don't
36:38think
36:38he's
36:38spoken
36:38about
36:39the
36:39emergency
36:40in the
36:40past
36:40like he
36:41has
36:41today
36:41isn't
36:42it
36:42see
36:44Sneha
36:44you know
36:45reporters
36:46are bound
36:46to read
36:47between
36:47the lines
36:48and if
36:48you see
36:48what
36:48Mr.
36:49Varka
36:49and
36:49who's
36:50an
36:50erstwhile
36:51congressman
36:52who's
36:52from
36:53Kerala
36:54the same
36:54state
36:55as
36:56if I
36:57am
36:57right
36:57as
36:58Mr.
36:58Tharoor
36:58immediately
36:59said
37:00that the
37:00BJP
37:01has
37:01nothing
37:01to do
37:02with
37:02it
37:02so
37:02the
37:03question
37:03really
37:03is
37:04with
37:04the
37:04continued
37:04widening
37:06of the
37:07differences
37:07between
37:08the
37:08party
37:08high

42:16this is the whole service road here.
42:18This whole truck is in the same place.
42:23And when I was watching this,
42:26I was watching this,
42:27but when I was telling you that,
42:30when I was in the truck,
42:33there was something that happened.
42:35Is everything together or something?
42:37Yes, exactly.
42:38Yes, exactly.
42:39No, no, no.

43:40and as the next part came, the last part came here,
43:43the road started to die and after that, the road came out.
43:46With the road, this is the whole area of the road.
43:49Look, this is the middle, this is the middle part of the road.
43:53This is the middle part of the road, which is the middle part of the road.
43:56And after that, the call is called immediately.
43:59This road has been closed, this road has been closed.
44:05Himan Chumashra getting us those details.
44:06I'm going to thank you for the moment telling us about what has happened in Gurugram here,
44:11not too far away from Delhi City.
44:13This is the national capital region and we've seen several roads, in fact,
44:16cave in in the past and this is the latest one in these monsoons
44:20where the road, in fact, gave away completely with a truck now stuck in that,
44:27in fact, when the road gave away and it caved in essentially
44:30and the truck met with that accident there, this in Gurugram.
44:36So, we're going to look at the front of the road.
44:41So, here's the green part.
44:43So, we're going to go to the back of the road.
44:44So, let's go into the front of the road.
44:47And I'll put it in the east of the road.
44:50So, now we're going to take care of the road.
44:52So, at this road, I'm going to take care of the road.
44:57I'm going to get out of that road.
44:59So, this is definitely a few miles away when it comes up.
