Scheffler insists focus is not on The Open Championship

Scottie Scheffler hit back at suggestions that he is only playing The Scottish Open to prepare for the final major

00:00Yeah, I mean, there's definitely a certain aspect of getting preparation for next week,

00:04but, you know, I definitely am not looking at next week.

00:09You know, this is an important tournament for me, and this is a tournament that I want to play well in.

00:12And if I wanted to just do preparation, I would have gone and played some other golf courses for fun.

00:16You know, I would have – there's other ways to get prepped than coming over and playing tournament golf,

00:20but, you know, it was important for me to get over here.

00:23Like I said, you know, tournament golf is a little bit different than just playing for fun.

00:25So get here under the right conditions, you know, playing a bit of wind and, you know, get used to the time and stuff like that.

00:30But, you know, by no means am I just showing up at this tournament to prepare for next week.

00:34You know, this is a tournament that's important to me and a tournament that I'd like to play well in.
