00:00And we can never let extremists re-write history.
00:04It's the debate that's caused a stir in the European Union institutions.
00:08A vote of confidence tabled against President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen,
00:13presents an opportunity for MEPs to take stock one year after the European elections.
00:19Going into the vote, von der Leyen firstly has the full support of her European People's Party,
00:25the strongest force in the House.
00:27The motion of censure is an initiative by anti-Europeans who want to weaken Europe,
00:33who want to weaken European institutions and who want to reduce the trust of the citizens in the European Union.
00:39It is not meant to improve anything, it is not justified and it is also irrelevant.
00:44The Social Democrats, Liberals and Greens have no intention of weakening the pro-European coalition formed around the EPP.
00:52Their leaders, however, have seized the opportunity of the debate to air their grievances with the Commission.
00:59The radical left is also expected to reject the motion of censure.
01:03However, some MEPs may abstain to show their opposition to Ursula von der Leyen.
01:08In this moment, the theme that counts is to try to give Europe a different hope, a new leadership,
01:16a profound change in progress compared to policies that do not satisfy us in any way.
01:22In the beginning of the regime, but this extends to the social policies, to the Green Deal,
01:27to everything that this Commission does not do, or worse, is trading compared to the past goals.
01:33Thirdly, the European Conservatives and Reformists group will be divided at the time of the vote,
01:39the motion of which was tabled by one of its members.
01:42Finally, the most right-wing groups in the Chamber, the Patriots for Europe and the Europe of Sovereign Nations,
01:47are expected to vote in favour of the motion, which on paper seems doomed to fail.
01:52The vote on the motion of censure on Thursday will likely indicate the levels of discontent
01:57within the European Parliament towards the European Commission.
