00:00What was it Benjamin Franklin said?
00:12We only know the worth of water when the well is dry.
00:18We kind of take it for granted.
00:21You're used to it.
00:22You turn on the tap and out comes the water.
00:24It's usually okay to drink.
00:27I feel a little sad that if you read a book on cell biology,
00:32you can almost not find the word water in the index of the book.
00:37In conventional science,
00:40it was pretty standard to just consider water as a passive medium.
00:45Nearly the background carrier of the more important molecules of life.
00:51It's the stuff that fills the bathtub, doesn't do anything, just sits there.
00:56No molecular structuring, no intelligence or responsiveness.
01:03The thing about magic is you can be so used to it, you don't even see magic anymore.
01:08You get accustomed to it.
01:10And one of the best examples of that is water.
01:13Water changes from a liquid to frozen to a vapor.
01:19And if we could all be malleable like that to our environment, to our life, we'd be much happier people.
01:28We all grow up learning that there are three phases of water.
01:34The solid ice and the liquid and the vapor.
01:38We discovered a fourth phase of water.
01:41The fourth phase of water is required for practically everything the sail does.
01:47Water has certain quantum mechanical properties that are quite astounding.
01:55I wanted to see whether or not water could crystallize my thoughts in ice.
02:02Water responds to different words.
02:05To thank you in Japanese and you fool.
02:08Whether the words is negative or positive makes a huge difference at the molecular level.
02:14I once asked water if it knew my name and as it froze it designed a VA exactly linked in the way that I link my initials.
02:26I've since repeated that twice and seen the same result.
02:31Structured phases, liquid crystalline phases of water.
02:35Responsiveness to human emotion.
02:37Something in water is probably an answer to a question we don't even know what that question is yet.
02:42We don't even know what that question is yet.
02:45We don't even know what that question is yet.
02:49Well I fill in it.
02:56I'm feeling as if it wasn't too hard for food.
03:00I show it all both excitement.
03:02I know that it takes these things because I never mind.
03:05All right.
03:06The main contribution of water.
03:08The amount of water packed water.
03:10The main contribution of water.
03:12This is a great opportunity for everybody.
03:15The story of water is so rich, it's incumbent upon us to fully bring that story forward
03:27so that there is a deeper, richer understanding of life.
