00:00I didn't feel like Superman.

00:05There were two moments, I guess.

00:06One was actually at the screen test,

00:08where I was not in my suit, but I was in a Superman suit,

00:11and Rachel recalls coming by and knocking on the door

00:14to say goodbye as she was leaving,

00:16and I turned around in the suit.

00:17I just remember being like,

00:18holy shit, there's Superman.

00:20You know, the suit felt like it had been made for you.

00:24Obviously, it wasn't.

00:24It was going to be one that was much more tailored to you,

00:27but it was pretty striking at the moment.

00:30David just came in immediately and was like,

00:33oh, I think that guy's it, man.

00:34I think he was the second audition I saw.

00:37He looked just like Superman.

00:39That's my greatest strength.

00:41And then the first camera test was where the suit

00:43had finally sort of come together,

00:44because the first time I put it on, it was still in pieces,

00:46and the S wasn't sewn in, it was a work in progress.

00:49But the first time I walked out for the camera test

00:51to show everybody, I had to muster a little bit of courage

00:55to feel like I'd earned the suit yet.

00:56I hadn't done anything in the suit yet.

00:57I didn't feel like Superman.

00:59Putting the cape on helped quite a bit.

01:00I've got to say, for us,

01:01it took the air out of the room in a great way.

01:04I just remember I have this really distinct mental image

01:07of David walking across this soundstage

01:10with a camera following him,

01:12and the cape billowing behind him.

01:13And we were just, I mean, it was the second time for me,

01:16and it happened over and over and over again

01:17throughout the shoot.

01:18But it was, it just felt like we'd arrived somewhere.

01:22Rachel, I love from Ms. Maisel,

01:24and it was harder to choose because at the end of the day,

01:27there were some other really great Loises who auditioned.

01:30But Rachel had that assertive relentlessness of a journalist

01:36that I loved, and I believed her as a journalist.

01:39Superman.

01:40Miss Lane.

01:41And I also believed that this is somebody Superman would be in love with.

01:45And then I had the two of them act together in screen test,

01:49and the magic was there.
