00:00disaster and other disasters that we have faced. And we I couldn't have. Well, I do want to point out that we can assure the country that we're going to build back better. The new building in the Palisades will be subject to the 2008 state fire code. That code was so successful in the Paradise fire that the structures there, majority of them survived if they met that code. But of course,
00:29the code didn't apply to buildings built before that date. So we are going to rebuild. We are going to have great communities in Altadena and the Pacific Palisades, and we're going to build back better. And we're going to get the federal aid that California is entitled to given the proxy the size of this disaster. And I couldn't have better allies and partners in fighting for that aid than Senator Padilla and Congresswoman Judy Chu.
00:59And the governor couldn't have a better partner than first partner Jennifer Seibel Newsom. Please come on.
01:06Jennifer Seibel Newsom. Please come on.
01:19Buenos dias.
01:22Cuando visite a Los Angeles durante los incendios, conocà a muchas personas que, a pesar de enfrentar tanto sufrimiento y perdida, ayudarán a sus vecinos.
01:35We are listening in to a number of lawmakers and officials as they provide an update following six months since the devastating wildfires that affected Southern California right here.
01:51We were hearing from Governor Gavin Newsom, Senator Padilla as well.
01:57This is a live look right here, an aerial view of some of the devastation that is left behind as the rebuilding process continues.
02:07And you can see there isn't much when it comes to buildings right there.
02:12So many of these communities are continuing to still take away the debris.
02:18And so we do have this live look right here of one of those areas as earlier we were seeing the helicopter flying over some of these devastated communities of Eaton and the Palisades right there.
02:32So we are going to continue to follow this live event out of Los Angeles as we are hearing from a number of individuals, primarily in English, but also some of these remarks also in Spanish right there.
02:47In the meantime, we are going to step away for a brief break right here on Live Now from Fox.
02:53A lot more coverage in just a moment as we continue on this Monday.
02:59Time right now is 4.04 Eastern, 1.04 Pacific.
03:03We're going to step away and return in just a moment.
03:07We're going to step away and return in just a moment.

05:07Welcome back to Live Now from Fox.
05:14We continue to dip into a live event happening out of Los Angeles, California, where officials
05:20are discussing the progress being made and the efforts that still need to be done following
05:25six months since the devastating and deadly wildfires in Southern California.
05:31Speaking right now is First Lady Newsom.
05:34She was speaking in Spanish prior to us taking a break.
05:38Let's listen in.
05:39Bring us and each other and the world, the very best of us.
05:44As we continue to face more and more climate-related disasters like these devastating fires and
05:51the flooding tragedy this past weekend in Texas, it is more important than ever that we build
05:56resilience in our communities.
05:58There are a lot of critiques aimed at California, but it's hard to argue with success.
06:06The California dream and this city, its heartbeat, is still the world's greatest single success
06:13story.
06:14California, let's not forget, is the fourth largest economy in the world, home to the
06:20most beautiful coastlines, mountains, and public lands on the planet.
06:26The center of the world's creative and innovation-based economies from Hollywood to Silicon Valley
06:32and Silicon Beach just here in L.A., the state with the most educated, diverse workforce due
06:40to our top public universities, the number one manufacturing state in the United States,
06:47the fifth largest producer of agriculture in the world, the largest in the country, the birthplace
06:57of the environmental movement, having led the charge for clean air and water, healthier foods,
07:03and organic farming.
07:06California is all these things because we embrace new ideas and new voices, not in spite of them.
07:13We're the opposite of zero-sum thinking that seems to have taken over some leaders in Washington,
07:19D.C.
07:21We don't think that if we gain, someone else must lose, that if we protect our climate or
07:27immigrant communities, our economy will fail.
07:30No, we don't look at the world or our neighbors as our enemies.
07:33We look to them as our friends.
07:35Yes.
07:35Yes.
07:35Yes.
07:36Yes.
07:36We are a beacon of inclusion, innovation, and freedom around the world, and a cultural
07:49and economic powerhouse because we lean into our creativity and our differences.
07:57And let's not forget, we always, always look to the future.
08:01We still have so much work to do and a long road ahead of rebuilding.
08:08But I know that California and Angelenos will do what they've always done.
08:15They'll roll up their sleeves and look forward with sunny optimism to the future.
08:21They'll treat their neighbors with kindness and tolerance.
08:25And they'll continue to dream big.
08:27Because when we come together like this, and we keep looking to the future, nothing will
08:34stop us.
08:36This is California love, and together we remain California strong.
08:42And that concludes the update from California.
09:12California officials, following six months since the devastating wildfires, you can see
09:17the audience now standing up as this event has concluded.
09:21We're going to reset in just a moment after this break.
09:24We'll see you next time.
09:29We'll see you next time.
13:29latest ceasefire deal. The truce would last for 60 days. 10 living hostages and the remains of
13:3618 would be released in phases throughout the truce. Palestinian prisoners held by Israel will
13:44be released in exchange for the hostages, although some of those precise numbers have not been
13:50released. And humanitarian aid entering Gaza would increase and be distributed by the United Nations.
13:58Also, as part of this ceasefire deal, Israeli forces would withdraw to a buffer zone along
14:05Gaza's borders with Israel and Egypt. And on the first day of this truce, should it happen,
14:12the sides would be expected to begin negotiations towards an end to the war, although no timeline
14:20has been mentioned. Now, there are mediators as part of this proposed ceasefire deal. The United
14:26States, Egypt and Qatar. There is no guarantee, though, the war would end. But the proposal
14:33does state that President Trump insists the talks during the truce, quote, would lead to a permanent
14:39resolution of the conflict. If the negotiations towards ending the war are not completed after 60
