Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz said that there is still time to negotiate with the United States over the 25% tariff which is to come into force starting Aug 1.
In his initial response to the announcement, the Investment, Trade and Industry Minister, who is returning from Rio de Janeiro, said the tariff rate announced by the US on Tuesday (July 8) was unexpected.
00:00Hello everyone, I'm in a trip to Kuala Lumpur and we've been able to get the information on the issue of the tariff in which the company has made an argument for many countries, including Malaysia, which will be on August 1st.
00:22We've been able to make a personal statement from the PMT and we will continue to continue engagement with the US to ensure that Malaysia will be able to get the benefit from the EU.
00:52Okay, what's your first reaction? Do you expect that figure compared to other Southeast Asian countries? We are much lower than them.
01:04So, in terms of figure, we don't know what to expect. All we knew was that on the July 9th is the date where the 24% tariff was supposed to start.
01:18At the same time, we will continue to negotiate. Now, the test is we are being imposed on the tariff rate of 25% beginning of 1st of August.
01:29This gives us time to continue our engagement. The engagement has not stopped.
01:34but we have been able to negotiate as a delivery to the NOS government.
01:36So, in the beginning, we will decide to change that organization.
01:41With the NOSP or NOSP or NOSP or our annual engagement?
01:46With the NOSP or NOSP or NOSP or NOSP or NOSP?
01:50With the NOSP is not on the same subject as the NOSP?
01:52With the NOSP or NOSP? With the NOSP? With the NOSP? With the NOSP? With the NOSP?
