In the third episode of Challenge Accepted, Joel attempts to hole a 100-foot putt with a couple of twists! The first being he only has 25 attempts to do it and the second being the green he's chosen to do it on is far from flat. This is going to be his toughest challenge yet and to make matters worse, there's an embarrassing forfeit should he not manage to complete it, so be sure to watch the video right to the end!
00:03This time, it's the 100 foot crazy putt challenge.
00:06From here, all the way out there,
00:08I've got 25 balls to do it.
00:10Challenge accepted.
00:16Okay, so for episode three of Challenge Accepted,
00:18I really wanted to increase the level of difficulty.
00:20We're actually at my home club here,
00:22Burley Park Golf Club in Stamford, Lincolnshire,
00:24and it's a bitterly cold day in December.
00:27My hands are absolutely freezing.
00:28But, I think it's gonna be a really exciting video.
00:31So as I said, I've got a 100 foot putt here.
00:33I'm just gonna measure that with my Bushnell Rangefinder
00:35just to confirm.
00:37So we are 34 yards away from the flag,
00:41so just over 100 feet.
00:43And looking at some Arcos data that I got,
00:46would suggest that make percentage,
00:49from this sort of distance,
00:50the Tour Pro is around about 4%, so one in 25.
00:53So I'm completely up against it with this challenge.
00:56It's gonna be incredibly difficult.
00:57Not only when you factor in the temperature,
01:00but also the fact, the 16th green here at Burley Park,
01:03is a little bit quirky.
01:04Let's go and take a look and explain why.
01:12Right, so before we start this challenge,
01:13I just wanna show you the quirkiness
01:15of this 16th green here at Burley Park.
01:17As you can see, it's a very long green from front to back.
01:19But as we get kind of two thirds of the way up
01:21towards the hole, you see you've got this big slope,
01:23goes up the hill.
01:24There's not a traditional two-tier green,
01:25and that would continue all the way along.
01:27It then drops down.
01:28So you've got this kind of big sleeping policeman style hump.
01:31Goes up, all the way down,
01:32makes judging the pace incredibly difficult.
01:35But also the line of the putt,
01:36after it comes down the hill,
01:38can get a bit wobbly, it's quite difficult to read.
01:40So I'm definitely up against it with this challenge,
01:42not only with the distance,
01:43but the quirkiness of the green,
01:45the temperature of the wind,
01:46everything's working against me,
01:47and I've only got 25 balls to do it.
01:48So it's going to be really difficult,
01:50but let's get it under way and see how we do.
02:03I'll tell you what, it's not...
02:07Not the worst opener.
02:10Got to hit it very hard.
02:12Looked like it moved a little bit right to left.
02:15So, a bit harder, a little bit more to drive, come on.
02:25Oh, it's a bit jumpy.
02:29Right next to the first one, consistent.
02:35That's got a chance.
02:36It's got a chance.
02:40Oh!
02:41Oh!
02:44Oh, it's happening.
02:46It's happening.
02:4725, that's too many.
02:48I don't need that many.
02:49Probably in an actual round,
02:52I'll probably chip this with a seven, then.
02:57Oh, it's looking tasty.
02:58That's a bit left.
03:01Oh!
03:03I can't feel my fingers,
03:04which I don't think is helping.
03:11Do it.
03:12Do it.
03:12Do it.
03:13Oh!
03:15No!
03:19No!
03:19That was so close.
03:25That's unbelievably close.
03:26Right.
03:29Go.
03:30Go.
03:32Go.
03:34Go.
03:36Oh!
03:38Give it a nudge out of the way.
03:42Oh!
03:43It's gonna happen.
03:44It's gonna happen.
03:48Pulled it.
03:50No.
03:53What I haven't explained yet
03:54is that there is a forfeit
03:57if I don't do this challenge,
03:58which is embarrassing.
04:00Watch to the end,
04:01because it could get quite entertaining.
04:08No.
04:11It's getting worse.
04:12No, no, no.
04:13It's getting worse.
04:14No, no, no.
04:22Go.
04:2411 balls in.
04:26Not really.
04:28Only got three past the hole, so.
04:33Hard enough.
04:34Go.
04:45So I'm over halfway through.
04:51Definitely hard enough.
04:51Go, go, go, go.
04:58Most of them are on the left as well, so you need to aim more right, hit it harder.
05:12Got it there, got it there.
05:18Got it there.
05:25Go, go, go.
05:33Go, go.
05:36What?
05:41No!
05:46I can't believe that.
05:48How's that missed?
05:51Oh, my deez, that must have...
05:55That must have, like, lipped out or nearly.
06:01Where is it?
06:05Oh, dear.
06:06Okay, eight balls left.
06:09Obviously, the likelihood of me making this is going down all the time, but I'm getting
06:15that feedback loop.
06:16I know exactly what the putt's going to do.
06:19So, I know how hard I hit it, how hard I need to hit it, I know what line I need to hit
06:23it on, but from 100 feet, there's a lot of stuff that can go wrong.
06:30Well, that's awful.
06:31I'm going to see that back.
06:33That's it.
06:34It's starting to rain as well.
06:37Oh!
06:38Back and through.
06:39Bosh.
06:40Barely.
06:41What are you doing?
06:54That is absolutely a toilet.
07:00No!
07:01That was it.
07:03Ah!
07:04Three balls left.
07:20Oh, that's it, that's it.
07:25No, it's not.
07:28Oh, did I hit the balls?
07:42Okay, this is it.
07:46One ball left.
07:49Moment of truth.
07:51Imagine the scenes if this goes in.
07:54Oh, so cold.
07:56Alright, come on.
07:58Come on.
08:25That's it.
08:28Challenge failed.
08:29First time I've failed a challenge.
08:32Gave it a good go.
08:33How this ball didn't go in.
08:36I'll never know, but
08:38didn't really hit it.
08:39There's only like two or three that really scared the hole.
08:42I'm absolutely gutted to have failed my first ever challenge accepted, but gave it a good go.
08:49Obviously now, as I've said, there is an embarrassing forfeit, so I need to find out what that is.
08:54But right now I just need to go and take a moment and reflect on the miserable failure that has been this challenge.
09:00But hopefully you enjoyed it, and let's go and see what I've got to do.
09:06Right, so I've finished the challenge.
09:07I was hoping I could go into the clubhouse, have a nice warm cup of tea and warm myself up a bit.
09:11But I've just got a text to say that my forfeit for not completing this challenge is to clean people's clubs as they come in and finish their rounds.
09:18So I'm going to have to stick around for a little bit, wait for people to come in, give their clubs a polish before I can get nice and warmed up.
09:25So that's my punishment.
09:27Morning.
09:28Hi.
09:29How are you?
09:30Good.
09:31I'm good.
09:32Can I clean your clubs for you?
09:33Yeah.
09:35I'm ready.
09:37Oh, these are quite new, aren't they?
09:39Yeah.
09:40G430s, yeah.
09:45Getting a good scrub.
09:48Oh, these wedges need some attention.
09:52Can I give your clubs a quick clean?
09:55Sorry?
09:56Can I give your clubs a clean?
09:57Yeah, they're a mess.
09:58Yeah?
09:59Let me give them a go.
10:01Pingzing too, you don't see those every day.
10:05Bit of a scrub.
10:08Oh, look at that.
10:09Pingzing.
10:11Three iron.
10:12Beautiful.
10:14Beautiful.
10:16No worries.
10:19So that's it.
10:20We're all finished here.
10:21Clubs cleaned.
10:22I hope you enjoyed this challenge.
10:23Unfortunately, didn't complete it this time, but I will do my best on the next one.
