Russia launches massive aerial attack on Kyiv, injuring at least 23

As Kyiv suffered a major attack overnight on Friday, one resident who lives in the centre of the Ukrainian capital told Euronews that the number of Shahed drones "are far more numerous and deadlier than before".

00:00A barrage of 550 drones and 11 missiles targeted Ukraine overnight into Friday.
00:08Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said it was one of the largest-scale aerial attacks
00:14since Russia's invasion began in 2022.
00:17The attack, mainly targeting Kiev, injured at least 23 people
00:21and left damage across multiple districts of the capital, according to local authorities.
00:27Multiple residential buildings, a school, a medical center
00:31and a large amount of civilian infrastructure were damaged in the attacks,
00:36according to Kiev Mayor Vitaly Klitschko.
00:39Russia hit eight locations with nine missiles and 63 drones,
00:43igniting fires in at least five of Kiev's 10 districts,
00:48as falling debris also caused damage in 33 parts of the city.
00:52Ukraine's air defense said it shot down 270 of the UAVs, including two cruise missiles.

01:05and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin,
01:08and just days after the US said it would pause some arms shipments to Ukraine.
