00:00Is beer battered fish halal to consume?
00:04Some scholars say that alcohol is not najis
00:08and during the cooking process the alcohol is cooked out of it
00:12but some say otherwise.
00:16In regarding the question that can you have
00:20beer battered fish, it is you cook fish in
00:24beer or in alcohol so that the taste is
00:28better and it is cooked better. So is
00:32beer battered fish halal? Because alcohol
00:36is consumed, it evaporates and alcohol is not najis
00:40etc. Regarding alcohol is najis or not, there is
00:44difference of opinion but surely you cannot consume alcohol. Allah says
00:48clearly in the Quran in Suri Maidah chapter 5 verse number 90
00:52Oh you believe, innam al-qamrool may suruh, most certainly intoxicants
00:56gambling, dedication of stones, divination of arrows
01:00These are Satan's handiwork
01:02Abstain from me that you may prosper
01:04So this verse of the Quran is very clear that alcohol is prohibited.
01:08Regarding your question that if the alcohol is evaporated
01:12so is it allowed, not allowed? Yes we know that.
01:14And there is the Fatwa of Imri Taimi also, for example if you pour alcohol in a lake
01:20the full lake water does not become haram
01:22because the alcohol is mixed
01:24and once it is mixed in the lake
01:26the percentage is not there at all
01:28there is no evidence of color of the alcohol in the lake
01:32there is no evidence of order of alcohol in the lake
01:34there is no evidence of taste, when you taste the water of the lake
01:36it is 0.0001%
01:40so if you pour a bottle of alcohol in the lake water
01:44the whole lake water does not become haram
01:46so based on this we know that if it is diluted
01:48and the color is not there
01:50the taste is not there, the order is not there
01:52it is permitted
01:54Ibn Taimiya gives the Fatwa, yes
01:56but that does not mean
01:58that you can use alcohol in cooking
02:02and if you read the Fatwa
02:04of Sheikh Muhammad Salo Taimi
02:06he has said that yes
02:08if it evaporates and not there it is
02:10fine but that does not mean
02:12you can add alcohol
02:14as a cooking medium
02:16it is not permitted
02:18because our prophet is very clear cut
02:20the prophet said anything which intoxicates
02:22in large quantity is even
02:24in small quantity
02:25so when you are using alcohol
02:26in cooking purposely
02:28it is not permitted
02:30it is haram
02:31so you cannot add beer or alcohol
02:33for cooking and then say the beer evaporates
02:35so that is not permitted
02:36we are talking about alcohol poured in the lake water
02:38that is different
02:39but you cannot use alcohol for cooking
02:41because most of the time
02:42some remains will be there
02:44but even if it is not there
02:46it is not correct to use it as a medium
02:48for cooking
02:49it is haram
02:50so beer battered fish
02:53is not permitted
02:55and it is not permitted for you to have it
02:57it is haram
02:58hope that answers the question
