00:11At the official handover of Hospital Pasir Gudang by the Works Ministry to the Health Ministry on Sunday,
00:18Health Minister Datuk Sri Dr. Zulkifli Ahmad said the committee,
00:22co-chaired by Finance Minister to Datuk Sri Amir Hamza Azizan and himself,
00:26includes representatives from private hospitals, health care professionals, insurers,
00:33takaful providers and advocacy groups.
00:36In a joint statement released on Tuesday, the ministry said the committee is also supported
00:41by Bank Negara Malaysia and a consultative council comprising key stakeholders in the private health care sector.
00:49The council will serve as a dedicated platform for industry players to collaborate
00:53and provide input toward the government's goal of ensuring affordable and accessible private health care for all Malaysians.
01:01In his earlier speech at the event, Zulkifli acknowledged the ongoing shortage of health care workers,
01:07particularly nurses, a global issue affecting even traditional supplier countries like the Philippines.
01:14He said efforts, such as increasing nurse trainee intake to 1,000 have been made,
01:20but challenges remain in filling the vacancies.
01:23Calling it a long-standing issue with no quick solution,
01:26Zulkifli urged the public to give the ministry time to address the problem.
