00:01The Marlins, they've won eight of their last 12 and a chance today at another sweep this month, a possibility at some early summer cleaning. San Francisco has not been swept at home this season. The Marlins will try to do so here this afternoon.
00:17Hayden Birdsong is going to have a chance to help the Giants avoid a sweep today, and Birdsong has not been his sharpest here in the month of June. In fact, his best start in this month came on the first of the month, which was against the same Marlins team down in Miami.
00:31Xavier Edwards to lead it off. He has eight multi-hit games this month.
00:36And a pop-up to Adamas. That's short as he waits, and that's how this game gets started.
00:42Going to bring up Otto Lopez, the three-game shortstop, with two away in the top of the first against Hayden Birdsong.
00:48That was thrown inside, and it hits Lopez. After the game yesterday, Logan Webb came out and said,
00:56we have to do a better job at protecting our players. It's getting a little ridiculous. The umpires are talking about it.
01:03It was a pregame topic, and that's why they're getting together right now. That was way inside, and that's frustrating.
01:09Clayton McCullough coming out right now saying this is absolutely ridiculous, because here's the problem.
01:14They're getting mad at Calvin Fauche from last night's game.
01:17He got thrown out. Clayton McCullough just got thrown out by Alfonso Marquez.
01:22Clayton McCullough, great job there protecting your team and understanding that this is absolutely wrong.
01:27Two-out base runner on the hit-by-pitch, and Augustine Ramirez hammers a ball.
01:31Out to left. That slams off the wall. Ramos fires it in.
01:35Lopez goes first to third, and Augustine follows to second on the throw.
01:40Augustine wasted no time backing up his skipper.
01:44That thing was shot out of a cannon by Ramirez, and that puts men at second and third with two away in the top of the first.
01:51Hayden Birdsong finds himself in a sticky situation because he needed to get right about something that wasn't the Marlins' fault.
01:57And here's Stowers, who's at a hot series. Stowers with a drive, well hit, right center field.
02:03That ball is going, going, and he's gone. Goodbye.
02:07What an answer.
02:08Kyle Stowers, the Stanford product with his 12th of the year, and the Marlins have a 3-0 quick lead in San Francisco.
02:15That's the answer back, hitting Otto Lopez.
02:19This one, 110 miles an hour off the bat, 440 feet, a three-run shot to get Miami on the board.
02:29Take a look at Junk's number so far on the season.
02:32Only his second start.
02:34He had been coming out of the bullpen, been really, really good.
02:36And one of the biggest reasons, too, just does not give out free passes.
02:41Only two walks so far this season.
02:45Here's Rafael Devers with one out and nobody on.
02:48And a shot into the hole and a big six.
02:51Goes the other way and a two-strike count.
02:53That's the first hit of the game for the Giants.
02:55And here's Wilmer Flores with Jung-Hoo Lee on deck.
02:58That's driven to center field.
03:00Myers shooting and makes the catch.
03:04Fish scoreless frame tossed up by Junk after the three-run first-inning homer from Kyle Stowers.
03:11Two up, two down for Birdsong in the second here.
03:143-0 Fish.
03:15Fortes rolls one past the dive of the second baseman.
03:18Wisely into right center for a base hit.
03:20Nick Fortes continues to swing a hot bat.
03:23Xavier Edwards up now.
03:26Shows bunt.
03:27Ball gets away.
03:28Good eyes by Fortes.
03:30As it got away from Kisner, he moves to second base.
03:32But the Marlins have a man in scoring position.
03:35That one is lined to left.
03:36Ramos sees this one, comes in, and makes a catch.
03:40On the soft-sinking liner.
03:42So Birdsong works around the hit and the wild pitch.
03:44And that's a leadoff walk issue to Sanchez.
03:46Now Augustine Ramirez, who drilled a double off the middle of the wall and left.
03:51That's 113 miles an hour off the bat his first time.
03:55That ball is well cranked to left field.
03:57Going, going, gone.
03:59Goodbye, Augustine Ramirez.
04:01Stowers took the home run lead on the team with his 12th and the first.
04:05And Ramirez says, we're tied again, buddy.
04:075-0 Miami.
04:09443 feet.
04:13Now he has the longest two home runs on the season for the Marlins.
04:18Andrew Kisner, two for 24 since coming up to the big leagues.
04:221-2.
04:23And Kisner pokes this one into right center.
04:25It's going to get down base hit.
04:27That was kind of amazing.
04:29That pitch was a foot outside.
04:31So now Yastrzemski comes up with a runner at first and nobody out.
04:35Strike three called on the four-seamer.
04:37Yastrzemski didn't like that call, but it did look like it was in the lower part of the zone.
04:42Devers had a good swing his first time up in a two-strike count.
04:44Hit a low liner to left center.
04:46Hit high and deep to center field.
04:49Myers back.
04:51Out of here.
04:53And a huge home run from Devers.
04:56That one just kept going.
04:58Man, he pummeled it out to right center field.
05:01And the Giants are on the board.
05:03It's 5-2.
05:04Second home run with the Giants for Devers.
05:08We have seen some long home runs in this game today.
05:11Well, the Giants have some momentum on their side for the first time in this game.
05:14And lead lights one.
05:16It is going to be past Sanchez.
05:19And now Jong-Hoo Lee is off and running.
05:22He's got a chance.
05:23Sprinting to third.
05:25And he'll get the stop sign as the center fielder, Myers, finally got to it.
05:30Jong-Hoo Lee ends up at third.
05:32Well, for Sanchez, he's kind of gotten a rock and a hard place.
05:35Do I go?
05:36Do I lay back?
05:37And when he gambled, it did not work out.
05:39And that's an opportunity.
05:40A leadoff triple.
05:42And the pitch to Adamas.
05:43And he lines it in the left field of base there.
05:46Here comes Lee.
05:47He will score easily.
05:49And it's 5-3.
05:51That's got to feel good.
05:52And it feels great.
05:53And it feels great up and down that Giants dugout.
05:56And now you get the tying run in the batter's box after being down 5-0.
06:00Swiggin' a line drive down the right field line.
06:03And a fair ball up against archway number one.
06:06Stopping at third is Adamas.
06:09Pass with a double.
06:10Just a beautiful two-strike swing.
06:13On a pitch on the outside.
06:14I mean, the only way you get to that pitch, if you commit, say, I'm going to go with location.
06:18Daniel Moskos is going to come out and try and calm junk down.
06:21See if they can keep it going.
06:22You got the 8-9 hitters now.
06:24But he drives it to deep right field.
06:27And it is off the wall.
06:31Adamas is in to score.
06:32Right behind him.
06:33Cause.
06:34He'll score.
06:35Take the zero off the board.
06:37He's got a hit.
06:38It's a double.
06:39And the game is tied.
06:41That has to feel good for Wisely.
06:43And he triggers his ball.
06:45I thought for a second he had a chance to pump it out of here.
06:47We'll have to settle for a double.
06:49But this game is brand new.
06:50Wisely with a two-run double.
06:52That one a bunt that Kisner got down.
06:55The pitcher Junk picks it up.
06:56He tosses to the covering second baseman Edwards at first.
06:59So it is a 1-4 putout.
07:01And that pushes Wisely to third base.
07:04Three runs.
07:05Four hits.
07:05A sacrifice bunt in 14 pitches.
07:08Punched out in the air.
07:09Shallow left field.
07:10This will be interesting.
07:11Stowers makes the catch.
07:12Runner is coming.
07:13And now it stops.
07:14As the throw comes on.
07:16Wisely started coming down and then stopped.
07:18He's going to bring in the lefty.
07:19Josh Simpson.
07:20So it's a tough fourth inning for Junkie.
07:22Devers.
07:23They've got the Giants offense going.
07:25And that almost hit him.
07:26Well we already have had warnings on both sides.
07:29That's ball four to Devers.
07:31He's on base for the third straight time.
07:33And now Ramos gets it at bat against a lefty.
07:35Quirve ball on the corner.
07:38Says Alfonso Marquez strike three in Simpson again.
07:41Another good job.
07:42Back to back walks by Birdsong.
07:45And the Marlins are in business here.
07:46Spencer Bivens is in the bullpen.
07:49And Bob Melvin is on his way out.
07:51Spencer Bivens.
07:5226th appearance of the year for Bivens.
07:54Very, very good at coming into an existing problem.
07:57Augustine Ramirez two for two so far, Gabby.
08:00Got the call right on the outside corner.
08:02Big first down.
08:03They did it in three pitches.
08:05Stowers, man.
08:06He has got some bat speed and power, this guy.
08:09Two-two.
08:09Got him swinging with the slider.
08:12Everything was away, away, away.
08:13Then he drops in a back foot slider.
08:15And now the right-hander from Virginia Beach sees Eric Wagaman.
08:20Legs 0 for 2.
08:21Through a pitch line in that gap.
08:22Wagaman's been finding that gap the entire series.
08:25One run will score in Sanchez.
08:27Here comes Lopez.
08:28He will come around.
08:30And Wagaman with another two-run double in the series.
08:33And the Marlins regain the lead at 7-5.
08:36Oh, he's been loving that spot here at Oracle Park.
08:39Another big hit for Eric Wagaman.
08:42So here is Connor Norby now.
08:44He's 0 for 2 with a strikeout and a line out to center.
08:46I mean, this guy's putting together quite the season.
08:49Norby, he finds Wagaman's spot, too.
08:52Routing third is Eric.
08:53He'll score.
08:54Another two-out RBI hit for Miami.
08:578-5.
08:59Norby with RBI number 23 on the year in game number 58.
09:03It's back-to-back RBI knocks against Spencer Bivens.
09:06And with one away, it's Augustine Ramirez,
09:08who has doubled and homered so far today.
09:10Routed to third base.
09:12It is a fair ball deep at third.
09:13And Koss long throw is a good one.
09:16Wow.
09:17And look at the backswing here with Ramirez.
09:19You're going to hear this.
09:20The catcher on that backswing right off the head.
09:24Stowers, who is homered, walked and struck out.
09:27That one misses outside.
09:28Ball four.
09:29A four-pitch walk issued to Kyle.
09:31And that's the first base runner in six hitters against Joey Lucchese.
09:34The pitch is chopped to third.
09:37Koss will play this one.
09:38Koss all the way across the diamond in time.
09:41Christian Koss has played a nice third base today.
09:44So here's Wilmer Flores.
09:46Wilmer still looking for his first hit in the series.
09:48Is a curve.
09:49Did he go?
09:50Yes.
09:50On appeal.
09:51That was a swing.
09:53Strike three.
09:54Flores can't believe it.
09:55He is unhappy.
09:57Tosses his bat away.
09:59And he's yelling it.
10:01The Marlins.
10:02And the pitcher, Gibson, who said something to Wilmer.
10:05Wilmer, it takes a lot to get Wilmer going.
10:08Alfonso Marquez is shoving Wilmer Flores to stay away.
10:13The benches are clearing here.
10:15Everybody's coming in for the bullpens, too.
10:17And I thought it was the pitcher.
10:19Maybe somebody else said something.
10:20This series has gotten really chippy.
10:22And that is a leadoff walk issued by Sean Jelley.
10:25Well, let's see how this new bat works out for Dane Myers.
10:28Myers up the middle.
10:29He'll get his first hand in the series.
10:31That feels good.
10:33You're right.
10:33Gabby, that new bat.
10:34That new bat is a lot better.
10:36The corners pinch in.
10:38Nick Fortes could be asked to bunt here with the Marlins up by three.
10:41Fortes at front.
10:43Jelley looks at third.
10:44He'll go to first and makes the play.
10:46Great bunt by Fortes.
10:48Norby to third and Myers to second.
10:50It will be Xavier Edwards against Sean Jelley.
10:52Right, he's 1-1.
10:54That one hit well.
10:55Now it's a right field.
10:56That's turning on Jastrzemski.
10:58And that will one-hop off the wall.
11:00It's over his head.
11:02Norby and Myers score.
11:03And Xavier Edwards has a two-run double.
11:07The Fists are scoring in bunches.
11:09X has been as hot as anyone in baseball over the last week or so.
11:14And Xavier Edwards drives in two more.
11:17And here's Sanchez.
11:18Another extra base hit, too.
11:20Line shot.
11:21That's a base hit.
11:21Edwards on the liner.
11:24Will just go up 90 feet.
11:26Sanchez first hit of the game.
11:27He's won for three.
11:28The entire lineup up and down, with the exception of Lopez, has a hit.
11:33But Lopez has reached base two times, and he's scored both times.
11:37And a base hit to right field for Lopez.
11:40Another run for Miami.
11:42Now everybody has a hit.
11:43Three across in this inning, and it's 11-5 Marlins in the top of the eighth.
11:48Lopez, 18 for his last 52.
11:50Another hit.
11:51Ramirez with a base hit.
11:52Another run will score as Sanchez comes in.
11:56Going over to third is Lopez.
11:58Ramirez with his third RBI.
12:01And now the route is on here in San Francisco.
12:04In with one out.
12:05Here's Willie Adamas.
12:06Adamas had a couple of good at-bats.
12:08Line drive.
12:09Base hit into right center field.
12:11That's a good sign.
12:12Three hits for Adamas.
12:15This guy, Koss, who's got a double and a run scored.
12:18He pulls one into left field.
12:20Base hit.
12:20And Christian Koss, his second hit of the game.
12:24Hey, make it interesting.
12:25So Kisner, he gets a shot at knocking in a couple of runs.
12:28Brown ball, sharply hit the second.
12:30Snared, though, by Edwards.
12:32And good job by Bayoso to get out of it.
12:34We'll go to the ninth.
12:35So here's Devers.
12:36Been a very good day for Devers at the plate.
12:38Single, two-run homer, and it was just a thing of beauty.
12:42It's a high fly ball to the left.
12:45Starting to carry.
12:47And it's off the very top of the wall.
12:49Devers is going to jog into second with a double.
12:54Kind of thought he had one, I do believe.
12:56To the opposite feel is really amazing.
12:59You can see why he had so much success at Fenway.
13:02So he's at second with one out.
13:04Ramos has a chance to get his first hit of the day.
13:07Beautiful sweeper.
13:09And a strikeout of Ramos.
13:11And a Marlins are now one out away from the sweep.
13:14With Romo Flores coming up as 0 for 4.
13:16High pop-up.
13:19Curving back.
13:21Rortez fights it off.
13:23And how sweet it is for Miami.
13:25A 12-5 win.
13:27They take all three games here against the tough Giants.
