00:05Global CO2 emissions soared to new heights. Let's break down what happened.

00:10First up, global energy-related CO2 emissions reached a record 40.8 billion tons,

00:15up 1% from last year. That's the fourth straight year of rising emissions.

00:20So what's driving this? Every single energy source grew in 2024, oil, coal, gas, even renewables.

00:27But fossil fuels still dominate, especially coal and natural gas.

00:32And with air travel booming again, oil demand got a big push from aviation.
