00:00Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're reminding you of 10 important plot points that will be
00:10relevant throughout the third season of Squid Game.
00:20The VIPs
00:21I just have to say that I'm a difficult man to please.
00:25I hope you won't disappoint me.
00:27You might not remember the VIPs, as it's been a good couple of years since we've last seen them.
00:32They appeared at the end of season one, depicted as anonymous elites who watch and bet on the games
00:37for their own entertainment.
00:50It's important to remember that the VIPs only showed up for the last two games,
00:54and that seems to be the case here as well.
00:56It's been confirmed that the VIPs are returning for season three,
01:00and there are some brief shots from the season three trailers showing the VIPs sitting around a table
01:05and enjoying some food and drink.
01:07Hopefully, the acting is a bit better this time around.
01:10Oh, how much did you bet?
01:12A million bucks!
01:14What convinced you to bet so much on number 69?
01:18Oh, it's such a beautiful number! 69!
01:23Oh, you dirty dog!
01:26The post-credits scene
01:27Season two left us with a tantalizing post-credits scene,
01:38which has drawn significant debate since its release in December.
01:41It shows Young-hee, the famous doll from Red Light Green Light,
01:45standing opposite a new boy doll.
01:47This newcomer is Cheol-soo,
01:48and like Young-hee, he is named after the famous South Korean school book character.
01:52According to the trailers,
01:54it looks like the dolls will be involved in some type of jump rope game,
01:58failure at which will send players flying and falling to their deaths.
02:02The red and green lights seen in the post-credits scene
02:04also indicate some type of starting and stopping element,
02:07but how that comes into play remains to be seen.
02:10X's and O's
02:18It's hard to forget the violent rebellion that ends season two,
02:33with Gi-hun instigating a failed uprising against the guards,
02:36and on a grander scale, the squid game at large.
02:38However, this plot point has overshadowed the simmering tensions
02:42between the X's and O's.
02:56Last we saw them, the O's were attacking the X's in the dead of night,
03:01hoping to murder the players who wish to leave
03:03and dwindle the numbers even further.
03:05It'll be interesting to see how,
03:07or even if, these tensions will carry over into season three.
03:10How will the O's react to the failed uprising?
03:13How will the X's react to the midnight massacre?
03:16Will they learn to work together,
03:18or is the divide too great to mend?
03:20It looks like one of the most important characters going forward will be Kim Joon-hee.
03:48And for those who don't remember, Joon-hee is pregnant.
03:52She and Myung-hee were in a relationship before she broke up with him following a failed investment,
03:56or should we say getting scammed.
03:58However, the breakup came after she became pregnant,
04:01and both she and Myung-hee are now in the games together.
04:04Let's just say, it seems unlikely that both parents will be around for this child.
04:20Showrunner Hwang Dong-hyuk has claimed that Joon-hee's child will play a very important role in season three,
04:26so it looks like that little guy is coming out one way or another.
04:29Noƫl is sabotaging the organ ring.
04:46One of the most unique aspects of season two was the subplot around Noƫl,
04:55who is serving as one of the guards.
04:57Not only does it humanize the faceless enforcers to some degree,
05:00but it also gives us a better perspective into their daily lives and operations.
05:04But what's most important to remember is that Noƫl is actively sabotaging
05:08the underground organ harvesting ring.
05:10The plan is to shoot players in a non-fatal manner
05:26and then take them underground to steal their fresh and healthy organs.
05:30But Noƫl is ruining this plan by shooting and killing the marked players,
05:34ensuring that their organs are no good.
05:36Unsurprisingly, this has made her not so popular with her co-workers.
05:40You know the golden rule of TV.
06:07If we don't see a body, they aren't really dead.
06:09Gyeongsak works at the amusement park with Noƫl,
06:12and he has a sick daughter who is dying of cancer.
06:15So he enters the game, hoping to get some money for her treatment.
06:24He ultimately takes part in the rebellion and is shot by a guard,
06:28who is presumed to be Noƫl.
06:29The fate of Gyeongsak will be one of the biggest questions going into season 3,
06:45but many fans theorize that he is alive,
06:48with Noƫl shooting him in a non-fatal manner.
06:50It'll be interesting to see how his subplot intertwines with Noƫl's,
06:54and even if he doesn't make it,
06:56we certainly hope his little girl does.
06:57Te-ho's combat stress reaction.
07:10Te-ho had an important job to uphold,
07:24but unfortunately,
07:26a reaction beyond his control got in the way.
07:28Te-ho takes part in the uprising,
07:30and it seems like he will be a valuable member of the team
07:33given his experience in the Marines.
07:35Te-ho-
07:45Te-ho-
07:47However, he quickly folds to the pressure and does poorly in combat.
07:54He later volunteers to get more ammo from the dormitory,
07:57but he suffers a combat stress reaction and fails to return,
08:01resulting in the failure of the uprising.
08:03No doubt this will play a role in Season 3.
08:06Will the players be sympathetic to Dae-oh,
08:08or will they blame him and see him as cowardly?
08:11Will he enjoy a heroic redemption of some kind?
08:13We can't wait to see.
08:25Goong-ja has a hidden knife.
08:26Chekhov's gun states that if something is introduced in a story,
08:35that something must be valuable and eventually come into play.
08:39While Squid Game doesn't have a Chekhov's gun, but a Chekhov's knife.
08:43During a late night talk with her son,
08:45Goong-ja reveals that she has a small knife hidden inside her hairpin.
08:49It's unclear if the guards missed that,
09:05or if they simply allowed her to have it,
09:07but that's not the point.
09:08The point is that this knife was never seen again in Season 2,
09:12so it is virtually guaranteed that it will play a role in Season 3,
09:15and probably an important one.
09:17That knife is definitely going inside a body.
09:20We just don't know whose or why.
09:34In-Haul won the game.
09:36What some people might not remember as it goes back to Season 1
09:49is that In-Haul is not just the frontman.
09:51He's also a past winner of the games.
09:54In-Haul shares his backstory with Gi-hun,
09:56and we have no reason to disbelieve it.
09:58Basically, his pregnant wife had liver disease
10:01and needed a transplant so she and the baby could live.
10:03In-Haul entered and eventually won the 28th iteration of the Squid Game,
10:20but his wife died before he could use the money to pay for an operation.
10:24However, we still don't know why In-Haul returned to the Squid Game
10:27and became the frontman,
10:28but showrunner Hwang Dong-hyuk has promised that the answer is coming in Season 3.
10:32So, stay tuned.

10:55The boat captain is a traitor.
10:57Jun-Ho spent Season 2 on a boat looking for Squid Game Island,
11:10to no success.
11:11However, that's not his fault.
11:13If you'll remember,
11:14Captain Pak is a traitor
11:15and has been sabotaging the operation the entire time.
11:19It's likely that Pak was hired by In-Haul to find Jun-Ho
11:21after he shot him off the cliff,
11:23and the two are now working in tandem to keep the island a secret.
11:26Pak's duplicity is finally revealed in the finale,
11:29when he's found tampering with a mercenary's drone.
11:42Knowing that the game is up,
11:44Pak kills the man and throws him overboard.
11:46We have no doubt that Jun-Ho will eventually find the island.
11:50We just can't wait to see how he gets the upper hand on Pak.
11:56So I looked at him and looked at him,
11:57but I thought this ship was going to hit the top of the cliff.
12:03Look, it's crazy.
12:05Is there anything else we should know about?
12:07Let us know in the comments below.
12:09I am dying to know what this next game is.
12:11Give us a hint, will you?
