00:00Well, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said this NATO summit here at The Hague would be the Trump summit
00:05because of the push by Donald Trump for NATO allies to agree to spend 5% of GDP on defence by 2035,
00:13the next 10 years, which is no mean feat because you're talking about tens of billions of dollars or euros.
00:19In addition, we saw this statement from all allies at the end, which is five paragraphs long.
00:24Normally, these things run into several pages.
00:26And chief among them is an ironclad commitment for all allies to Article 5,
00:31which is the article in the NATO Charter which says an attack on one is an attack on all.
00:35This is interesting because Donald Trump himself had cast doubt about America's commitment to this article just before he touched down.
00:42And also very interesting is the role of Ukraine in this statement.
00:44It's quite low down, about the fourth paragraph.
00:47But it also says that Ukraine's security contributes to NATO security,
00:52which I think is a bit of a watering down compared to what other NATO allies had said to me in the past few weeks.
00:58They had said that they'd hoped that Ukraine's security would be inextricable to NATO's security.
01:04But Russia also in there as a long-term enemy or a long-term concern and threat to NATO.
01:10Many people would also say it's an immediate threat too.
