BTech in Computer Science & Artificial Intelligence | Plaksha University

Computing systems will be pervasive and interface of human and artificial intelligence will be a source of future grand challenges and opportunities for innovation.
At Plaksha, BTech in Computer Science & Artificial Intelligence (CSAI) is not a traditional Computer Science degree but combines a core in computer science with artificial intelligence, machine learning and human intelligence.
From understanding foundations of computing systems like hardware and programming languages; mathematics behind data science, machine learning and deep learning; to building prototypes with large language models (LLMs) and applying novel models to state-of-the art applications, this curriculum enables students to leverage technology that exists today as well as push it further to create technology of the future.

00:01Every day we see new breakthroughs happening in artificial intelligence.
00:04In the next year, half the development is going to be done by AI.
00:09In order to understand the magic, you need to understand what is happening in the background.
00:15CS AI program at Plaksha not only differs from engineering programs, it also differs
00:20from traditional CS programs with a very significant component of AI as part of the program.
00:26The way that the AI is developing, it's making changes not just in traditional fields where
00:31CS was having an impact, it's perhaps going to have a much larger impact on almost all
00:36facets of life.
00:38I'm currently teaching discrete mathematics here.
00:41This course introduces students to formal mathematical notations.
00:45It teaches students how to go about writing proofs, how to solve problems, which helps
00:51you build a strong foundation to study computer science.
00:56One is a deep learning course, which is a fundamental machine learning course.
00:59We talk about deep learning architectures, latest training paradigms across different types
01:04of applications.
01:05The second course is a web development using AI, so LLMs have become very powerful and we
01:10use LLMs to design websites from scratch, full stack, with both the backend and frontend.
01:16I also teach a course on geospatial data science, which uses the latest tools in Python and machine
01:20learning for geospatial data.
01:22One of the major projects I'm involved in is the project on building foundation models
01:28for robots.
01:29In fact, the idea of building a foundation model is to kind of build a similar model,
01:33similar capability for real world physical systems, which would enhance the scope of AI
01:38and what we can do with AI.
01:40These courses are geared around giving students a fundamental knowledge about HTI, about MLPR,
01:46these courses.
01:47But at the same time, they also introduce hands-on learning for students.
01:51So students work with actually a lot of different sensors and variables.
01:54They collect data.
01:55They work with AR, VR systems.
01:57And then they build around projects around these that are very much relevant for the industry.
02:01They go out and they showcase their projects at different fairs.
02:04They also go and meet industry leaders and some startups are also coming out very soon from
02:09these projects.
02:10One of my favorite courses is web development with AI.
02:13It's given me a flavor of regular software development with that added twist of how artificial
02:19intelligence can sort of benefit that, how you can sort of use the tools available at
02:23your disposal to better your outputs.
02:26With CSAI being able to learn core concepts in computer science as well as real world applications
02:32in artificial intelligence, whatever domain I go into, I'll be able to couple those concepts
02:38together and apply them in the real world.
02:41I think there are three career pathways primarily for our CSAI students.
02:45The first is to be able to do research.
02:47So many of our CSAI students, they do want to go ahead with grad school.
02:52The second is to be able to go and work in different kinds of industry and do AI in industry
02:58for different kinds of applications.
03:00Many of our students that they opt to is for entrepreneurship.
03:04So we also have a center for entrepreneurship, a minor in entrepreneurship.
03:07So many students enroll through that and then they start their startup journeys through
03:11that after production.
