00:36so stuff that I think everyone should know about Australia is that Australia has a history that

00:44predates colonization so the Australia as we know it white Australia has a black history my Australia

00:52has a black history so the reason I wanted to be involved in this project was because I'm really

01:03passionate about my people my land my culture and I wanted to share that with you all I've learned

01:10so much just through hosting this show I want you all to know what I know and be as blown away and

01:21and feel really proud about what you are about to find out I didn't learn none of this stuff in

01:28school so so it's just been a whole journey of knowledge

01:37what I hope people will get out of this series is a deeper understanding and a deeper knowledge into

01:51their own backyard so the series drops NAIDOC week November 8 through to 15

02:07this year's theme for NAIDOC is always was always will be and for me growing up that phrase always ended

02:19in Aboriginal land and the only time I ever heard that phrase was at a protest so for me it means

02:30acknowledging that we live on Aboriginal land and throughout this land for hundreds of thousands of

02:39years before I even came along my people walked on this land conducted ceremony on this land enacted

02:49their law on this land slept on this land ate from this land worked with the land cared for the land

02:57it's really poignant for this year especially when we still have our own sites being blown up torn down

03:09and we still ask for justice
