00:00A 26 year old woman has died following a shooting on Christmas Eve.
00:06Her devastated family are inconsolable and heartbroken.
00:11Dad, it's early. You need to go to the hospital. Someone said she'd been shot.
00:17Not my daughter.
00:20You can't begin to process exactly what's gone on.
00:25You know, you haven't even begun to grieve. You haven't had a chance.
00:28You're still thinking she's going to come in. She's going to walk through that door.
00:35I was drinking heavily and it was going to kill me.
00:39I just felt it was better for me to not be here.
00:43Well, then John May had suddenly appeared into my life.
00:47I was stuck. I'd created a prison for myself and I thought a thousand miles should do the trick.
00:55And he mentioned that he was doing this walk, land's end to John O'Groats.
01:00And he said to me, do you mind if I join you on the walk?
01:03And that's exactly what I did. My coach got out of town.
01:07So we'd come for a couple of days and there was no sign of him going home.
01:11It took my mind away from what had been going on.
01:16And I broke that cycle of the drink, depression and that world of hell.
01:21Instead of seeing them as a grieving father, I see them as just Tim.
01:28We were just two divvies bumbling along in the countryside.
01:34We were a team.
01:36It was about Ellie. It was about keeping her name alive.
01:41We're going to walk into Liverpool and we said if anyone wants to join us, they can.
01:45The clouds seemed to just grow.
01:48And I marched into that city of pride. I was proud.
01:53Me and John were together 24 hours a day.
01:56So it was always inevitable that I was going to crash.
02:00I wanted to kill them. I hated them.
02:02You do your thing, I'll do mine. I'll see you in John O'Groats.
02:06That's the lowest I've ever been.
02:08I was going to end my life, mate.
02:12I could see my girl standing there in front of me.
02:17I still see her there now.
02:26Hope is stepping one foot in front of the other.
02:30Just keep moving forward.
02:32And if you lose that hope, you've given up.
02:37Just keep cracking on.
02:43I'd like to thank him for basically saving me life.
