The film centers around Zhang Wuji, the son of Zhang Cuishan from the Wudang Sect, who becomes embroiled in the martial world's power struggle for the Heavenly Sword and Dragon Saber. Wuji, through a twist of fate, unexpectedly learns powerful martial arts techniques, including the Jiuyin scriptures, which allows him to defend himself and others.
