Tensions in the Middle East escalated again as Iran and Israel exchanged fresh airstrikes, targeting key military and intelligence sites. Both nations claim to have responded to previous provocations, fueling fears of a wider regional war. Meanwhile, former U.S. President Donald Trump is reportedly considering how the U.S. should respond, raising questions about America's potential role in the conflict. This latest exchange could have serious geopolitical implications as global powers closely monitor the situation.

00:00Israel's missile defense system tries to keep up with the barrage of Iranian attacks.
00:05And the skies over Tehran lit up as well as the volleys continue.
00:09And from President Trump on social media, two words for Iran, unconditional surrender.
00:15There's no guarantee.
00:16The president says there's no guarantee that the U.S. military will stay on the sidelines.
00:21And he met yesterday with his national security team at the White House.
00:24Israeli airstrikes may be unable to penetrate Fordow, a critical Iranian nuclear enrichment site buried deep in a mountainside.
00:33For that, U.S. B-2 bombers might have to be dispatched from Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri,
00:39a 30-hour round-trip flight to deliver so-called bunker-buster 30,000-pound bombs.
00:45As the United States can involve it, we are supporting that air campaign with a limited but very focused attack
00:52on maybe one or two of their buried facilities.
00:57And that's it.
00:58That's it, but the blowback could be substantial.
01:01And while the president has urged Israel not to assassinate Iran's supreme leader,
01:06he also offered this warning.
01:08We know exactly where the so-called supreme leader is hiding.
01:11He is an easy target, but is safe there.
01:13We are not going to take him out, kill, at least not for now.
01:18But we don't want missiles shot at civilians or American soldiers.
01:21Our patience is wearing thin.
01:25And here on Capitol Hill, there is this growing debate over whether Congress should be required
01:30to sign off on any direct U.S. involvement in the war.
01:34Mike and Alex.
