00:06Senator Risa Ontiveros is confident that the impeachment trial of Vice President
00:16Sara Duterte will continue into the 20th Congress. Disinformation and harmful content
00:21is a cause for concern among Filipinos. Vice President Sara Duterte says there is
00:26nothing wrong with sharing AI-generated videos that oppose her impeachment.
00:30Motorists can now check online if they have a traffic violation under the No Contact Apprehension
00:34Policy or NCAP. And Swedish pollvaulter Armand Duplantis breaks the world record
00:40as he hits 6.28 meters in Stockholm. Opposition Senator Risa Ontiveros says she is confident
00:47that Vice President Sara Duterte's impeachment trial will move forward in the 20th Congress
00:51following delays.
01:02Asked about the trial's potential timeline, Ontiveros says it is too early to call
01:06with the impeachment trial still in its infant stage.
01:09The impeachment trial against Duterte, who faces allegations of corruption among other charges,
01:30has been delayed twice since the House impeached her on February 5.
01:33Although the complaint was transmitted to the Senate on the same day, the upper chamber took
01:38no action. The Senate remanded the impeachment articles to the House on June 10. Summons have
01:43been issued to the Vice President. On Monday, June 16, her defense lawyers formally entered their
01:48appearance through the Senate Secretary, acting as Clerk of Court. Ontiveros says the Senate should follow
01:53the Constitution and hold the trial to hand the verdict.
01:56This really matters.
02:27mismong gobyernong iyon?
02:29Disinformation and harmful content is a cause for concern among Filipinos.
02:35The annual Reuters Institute Digital News Report 2025 finds 67% of the respondents were concerned
02:41about disinformation online, up from 63% in 2024, and is above the global average of 58% and the
02:48Asia-Pacific regional average of 60%. Released Tuesday, June 17, the report polled 97,055
02:55respondents across 48 markets in six continents online from mid-January to late February.
03:00Researchers polled 2014 adult Filipinos. Facebook was seen by respondents as the most
03:06common vector for disinformation at 68% and is above the 49% global average.
03:12Concerns for disinformation were also notable on other social media platforms.
03:16The report also says, overall trust in the news among Filipinos held steady at 38%,
03:21nearly identical to the 40% global average. In terms of news avoidance, the Philippines ranked
03:27among the top 10, with 48% avoiding news. There is a sign of news fatigue among Filipinos showing
03:33as well, with 27% saying they felt worn out by the volume of news. This was similar to the
03:38sentiment of respondents globally at 31%. Vice President Sara Duterte says she sees nothing
03:46wrong with sharing an AI-generated video of students opposing her impeachment. This after her ally,
03:52Senator Bato De La Rosa, unapologetically posted a video on his social media.
03:56If I were a social media account owner and I will do AI to support a certain personality,
04:10there is no problem because I'm not going to do a negotiation.
04:15De La Rosa drew flap on Sunday, June 15, after he shared a video that featured two students
04:20explaining why they oppose Duterte's impeachment. One student said he opposes the move, quote,
04:25because it is obviously politically motivated. The video was generated through VIO, Google's AI-powered
04:31video generator. In its latest version, it allows users to add audio to its AI-generated content.
04:37In a text message to reporters, De La Rosa stood by his post,
04:40saying it was the message that mattered to him, not the messenger.
04:46Motorists can now check online if they've been flagged for a traffic violation under the No
04:50Contact Apprehension Policy or NCAP. The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority
04:55launched the Mejulica website on Monday, June 16. To check, drivers must type in their plate number
05:01or conduction sticker and motor vehicle file number in the website's search bar.
05:05The MMDA says the traffic violation will be reflected on the website within a day.
05:10Through the website, drivers can see the time, date, and location of their traffic violation.
05:15Soon, vehicle owners will also be able to access photos and videos of the incident.
05:20For vehicle owners with addresses registered in Metro Manila, notices of violation are delivered
05:25manually by MMDA motorcycle riders. For those residing outside Metro Manila, notices are delivered by
05:31the Philippine Postal Corporation within five to seven days. The MMDA says it is still working on
05:37sending out notices via text messaging and email.
05:42Sweden's Armand Duplantis soars 6.28 meters to break the world pole vault record at the Diamond
05:47League event in Stockholm on Sunday or Monday, June 16 Manila time. This is his 12th time to set a new
05:53world-best mark. He says, quote,
05:55This was one of my biggest goals and dreams, to set a world record here in stadion. I had my whole
06:00family here from both sides. It's magic, it's magic. The moment his name was announced at the
06:06Swedish Capitals Olympic Stadium, the crowd responded by wildly clapping and cheering at his every attempt
06:11as he cruised through the competition. Duplantis' rival Curtis Marshall did his best to challenge the
06:16hometown favorite, but could only manage a best effort of 5.90, before making three unsuccessful
06:22attempts to clear the six-meter mark. Delighting the home crowd, the double Olympic champion improves
06:27on his own previous record set in February 2025. He says, I'm still a little hazy in my mind. It
06:33feels unreal. I'm just so happy. It's a cloud nine feeling. It's hard to explain. It's hard to compare.
06:39It felt a bit like the Olympics.
