00:00:28Goldberg returns on Monday Night Raw and it's so interesting, right?
00:00:33Gunther takes the ring and by the way, we've got so much to talk about.
00:00:36Bayley is going to be on the show, Jey Uso, of course, Asuka, of course.
00:00:39It took tons to get into tonight, but Gunther hits the ring.
00:00:43He's all smiles, you know, and everywhere on the internet over the last seven days,
00:00:49not to pat ourselves on the back, but everywhere you go, they're talking about,
00:00:52oh, Gunther said this on the Raw Recap, Gunther said that on the Raw Recap,
00:00:56but the quote that went everywhere was the quote when he said,
00:00:59I just won the world title and everybody's gone home.
00:01:02Nobody's here.
00:01:03And he likes it.
00:01:04And I like that, he said.
00:01:05And then he walks in alone again tonight and he was smiling.
00:01:10I mean, I don't remember the last time I saw Gunther smile.
00:01:12He doesn't come to work to make friends.
00:01:14He told us that right here on the Raw Recap.
00:01:16That's right.
00:01:16But he was smiling because business is good.
00:01:19He smiled through the parking lot.
00:01:21He smiles getting in the ring.
00:01:23It's such an evil smile too.
00:01:25I mean, it really is because you know why?
00:01:26Because when Gunther smiles, I mean, you can see it.
00:01:29When Gunther smiles and he shows those teeth.
00:01:32And those dimples.
00:01:33The problem is that those, every other, everyone else's teeth and dimples,
00:01:37they make you go, oh, good news for everybody.
00:01:39Let's find out.
00:01:40Let's all celebrate together.
00:01:41When Gunther's smiling and showing his dimples, it's bad news for everyone else.
00:01:46Gunther's not happy if it's good news for him and also everybody else.
00:01:50That bums him out because of everybody else.
00:01:53Gunther gets very happy when it's good news for him and absolutely no one else.
00:01:57I mean, he's the World Heavyweight Champion.
00:02:00Right, right.
00:02:01And everybody's bummed, but he's happy about it.
00:02:03That makes him happy that people are bummed.
00:02:05That's exactly, exactly right.
00:02:07It makes him feel like he's on the right track, like he's doing something right.
00:02:10You know, he referenced, obviously, these things get to him.
00:02:14It's so weird because you don't picture Gunther scrolling.
00:02:17You know what I mean?
00:02:18Nobody does.
00:02:19He has more important things to do.
00:02:21Does he?
00:02:21Because last week on Raw Recap, he brought up Bill Goldberg.
00:02:25So he knew that people were talking about it.
00:02:28This week on Monday Night Raw, he goes in the ring and he says,
00:02:30I'm not here to talk about rumors.
00:02:32He's talking about Goldberg.
00:02:34Like, Goldberg, I believe, has been top of mind for Gunther.
00:02:38I think that as soon as he won that World Heavyweight title,
00:02:41top of mind is, look, there are a lot of people
00:02:46waiting for Goldberg to show up and scream in my face.
00:02:49And Gunther is a student of the game.
00:02:51No matter what he wants to say, even though he shows it weird,
00:02:53Gunther is a guy who grew up watching professional wrestling.
00:02:56Well, he did say back in Atlanta at Bad Blood, right,
00:03:00that Bill Goldberg was one of his favorite wrestlers.
00:03:03No, he said that before Bad Blood.
00:03:05And then at Bad Blood, he said, I said before you were one of my favorite wrestlers,
00:03:09but that's not true.
00:03:10So once Goldberg was there, see, he said, I believe he told Bret Hart
00:03:16that Goldberg was one of his favorite wrestlers.
00:03:18And then he told Goldberg, you are not one of my favorite wrestlers.
00:03:21And then insulted his son.
00:03:23Right, because then once again, bad news, bad news.
00:03:26Right.
00:03:27And then to his son, he said, I just hope that Bill Goldberg was a better father
00:03:31than he was a pro wrestler.
00:03:32And if Bill Goldberg is watching, I don't mean to snicker.
00:03:35I don't mean to laugh.
00:03:36I don't mean to chuckle.
00:03:37Especially a day removed from Father's Day.
00:03:38That's right.
00:03:39That's right.
00:03:40And clearly, by the way, Goldberg has always taken his family very seriously.
00:03:43He said years ago, you know, whenever it was, almost 10 years ago,
00:03:48I feel like at this point, when he came back to WWE, he came back to WWE.
00:03:53So his son could see him because he hadn't, his son hadn't experienced.
00:03:57I mean, you got to understand Monday night wars, the thing I,
00:04:01Goldberg gave WCW another year of life.
00:04:06Like, like Goldberg was an absolute phenomenon.
00:04:09Just as the NWO was dying out, Goldberg was the thing.
00:04:13It came out of nowhere.
00:04:15And I mean, I can't tell you how many people got those Goldberg
00:04:18tattoos.
00:04:19I don't know how many of them are happy about it today,
00:04:21but I can tell you they got them done.
00:04:24But he was everywhere.
00:04:25Are you one of those people?
00:04:26You're kind of giving me a look.
00:04:28I go long sleeves.
00:04:29That's all I'll say.
00:04:30All right.
00:04:30But, but then he, and then he has run in WWE after WCW was, was done.
00:04:36And I mean, there's just something about Goldberg that of all people,
00:04:41you wouldn't think that Goldberg would have this forever quality,
00:04:44but he's this, he's this, he's love him or hate him.
00:04:48He's got this sort of ability to maintain being Goldberg just forever.
00:04:59The second that music hits, you heard the arena, you heard Green Bay.
00:05:02They went nuts.
00:05:03Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom.
00:05:06And then the smoke comes up and you're like, he's going to hit his head on
00:05:10Locker.
00:05:10He's going to breathe in the smoke and snort it out his nose.
00:05:12He's going to do it again.
00:05:14And he's going to take his shirt off and be in impossibly great shape as if no
00:05:18time has passed since 1999.
00:05:20It's going to be amazing.
00:05:23And that's what Goldberg does, you know?
00:05:26And I, and, and I think that you saw it all over Gunther's face when Gunther comes out
00:05:30and he goes, I'm right here to talk about rumors immediately.
00:05:33I'm like, you're taking my Goldberg again, dude.
00:05:36He goes, I'm here to talk about what word did he use?
00:05:40Reality.
00:05:41And I go, ah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:05:43And he starts talking about Seth Rollins because he knows that Seth Rollins has the money in the
00:05:48bank briefcase.
00:05:49He knows that John Cena has been planting that seed on SmackDown going like, no, no, no.
00:05:53Seth wants me to retire with this so he can get, he can be the only champion.
00:05:57He can get Gunther's world heavyweight title.
00:05:59And then just as he's talking about Seth Rollins, that Goldberg music actually hits.
00:06:06What did you think?
00:06:06What did you think when, when Goldberg makes his presence known?
00:06:12Well, this is something that as Gunther pointed out, everybody's been clamoring for, right?
00:06:18Speculating upon.
00:06:19Yes, speculating wildly about.
00:06:22Um, you don't see Gunther get rattled often, right?
00:06:27And I wouldn't say he was rattled.
00:06:28Gunther's never, because he'd be really upset.
00:06:31And he's been on this show twice and neither time has been all that polite.
00:06:34No, he wasn't rude last time.
00:06:37He literally walked off and said, I'm only here because they told me I had to do it.
00:06:40Well, for him, that's, that's being pleasant.
00:06:43Well, I take, I can't take everybody on their own.
00:06:45What did I think?
00:06:46Um, I thought this is a perfect way to begin this title reign for Gunther.
00:06:51I mean, it's a wild way to begin.
00:06:52So Goldberg comes out, he gets right in Gunther's face.
00:06:56And I've said all that history about Goldberg to say that there is no doubt in my mind,
00:06:59whether he would admit to it or not, that Gunther spent a lot of time growing up,
00:07:04a lot of time learning about the business.
00:07:05He's a student of the game.
00:07:07There's no question about it.
00:07:08Watching Goldberg.
00:07:10And I would bet you that Gunther was a Goldberg fan growing up.
00:07:14And he's staring down this monster because Goldberg has this way of being like, oh, this is not,
00:07:20it's not like, oh, this is so fun.
00:07:22It's a character from my childhood.
00:07:24It's like, oh, the monster still lives.
00:07:25And Goldberg, I mean, is in Gunther's face, shouting at him, congratulations, champ.
00:07:33And it's like, you can see the spit particles coming out of Bill Goldberg's mouth and landing
00:07:40right on Gunther's face.
00:07:42And Gunther is like, at first, I think he's trying to no-sell all this saliva.
00:07:47But eventually, like, you got to go back to DX and put the windshield wipers on.
00:07:52But I think Goldberg was doing it 100% on purpose as an intimidation tactic.
00:07:57And Goldberg said flat out, we started this in Atlanta.
00:08:01Like you said, Megan, when Gunther showed up at Bad Blood and was running that mouth,
00:08:05and Goldberg was in the front row, and he said, it's only fitting that we end it in Bad Blood.
00:08:11And I mean, I'll be damned in 2025 at a Saturday night's main event.
00:08:17We have a Saturday night's main event in 2025, which is Goldberg versus Gunther on the,
00:08:26what is it, the 12th of July.
00:08:27Now, Gunther is someone who has a lot of respect for the history of the industry.
00:08:34And as I mentioned, student of the game.
00:08:36Right.
00:08:37When he looks at an opponent like Goldberg, this version of Gunther,
00:08:41who believes he is leaps and bounds ahead and above everybody else,
00:08:46because he's proven that in the ring.
00:08:49What do you think Gunther thinks when big Bill Goldberg is spitting in his face?
00:08:55Well, it's interesting because when, like I said, when he's right there in front of you,
00:08:59it's like the monster still lives.
00:09:02Like I didn't know this was still a thing.
00:09:04And I'm sure it's like a, like, oh, like, like there's an intensity about Goldberg.
00:09:09And I think that's what made him so popular is that it's a very unique intensity
00:09:13that I think is fairly unmatched, you know, it's all Goldberg.
00:09:19I think if you, if you ask Gunther what he thought about Goldberg,
00:09:23when Goldberg wasn't in his face, he might say a lot of what he says about Jey Uso,
00:09:27that yeah, like Goldberg, like won matches,
00:09:29but ultimately there was a lot of marketing around Goldberg.
00:09:34The entrance was a big part of Goldberg.
00:09:36Like, what did I just say?
00:09:37Smashing the head on the locker, the security walking him through the backstage,
00:09:41coming out and blowing smoke through his nostrils.
00:09:45The, the, the, the, the showcase of Goldberg.
00:09:49It was always a spectacle.
00:09:52And his entrance might have been, not have been as long as Jey Uso.
00:09:56His entrance might not have been as like sort of inclusive as Jey Uso.
00:10:01Maybe not fun for the whole family as Jey Uso, but still there was a period of time
00:10:06where you would go to a wrestling show and go, I'm here to see the Goldberg entrance
00:10:12because the match is going to be 30 seconds.
00:10:14The match is going to be spear jackhammer.
00:10:15One, two, three Goldberg wins.
00:10:17I mean, there was literally, it was the top act in WCW for over a year.
00:10:25Entrance, spear jackhammer, one, two, three music plays again.
00:10:30That was the act.
00:10:32And that's what everybody bought a ticket to see.
00:10:34People bought pay-per-views to witness it.
00:10:36It was unbelievable.
00:10:38Gunther has, has, has in the past, not seemed to have a ton of respect for that type of
00:10:44professional wrestling.
00:10:45You know, the sort of like the spectacle.
00:10:49Gunther clearly, he said it to us last week.
00:10:51And I'm here to, to be that spectacle.
00:10:54Oh, he's here for the honor of this great sport.
00:10:57And, to beat people up and, and, and win.
00:11:01Right?
00:11:01Yes.
00:11:02And that's how he honors the sport.
00:11:04By beating people.
00:11:05So, you know, I, I, look, I think that, that, but that's what Gunther would tell you if
00:11:10Goldberg wasn't in the room.
00:11:12I think when Goldberg's tearing you down and it's a reality, well, now it's a whole different
00:11:17story.
00:11:17Because now, there's a reason why it was spear jackhammer, one, two, three.
00:11:21And that's the guy that you're facing.
00:11:23Spear jackhammer, one, two, three.
00:11:24Is the guy that you're facing for the title.
00:11:26And the fact is, and this is one of the reasons why there are fans that don't like Goldberg
00:11:31in 2025.
00:11:33That Goldberg, especially at this phase in the WWE, developed a reputation that you would
00:11:40think, well, Goldberg is in the, in the match because we haven't seen Goldberg in a while.
00:11:45It's the word I just used a moment ago, a spectacle.
00:11:48But nobody's going to lose the title to Goldberg.
00:11:50You know what I mean?
00:11:51Like, this is modern day WWE, you're not going to lose the title to Goldberg.
00:11:55And then Goldberg won the title.
00:11:56And you go, what?
00:11:58Goldberg's the champion?
00:11:59He would beat your favorite guys.
00:12:00He would beat these guys that you want.
00:12:02You're like, this is my guy.
00:12:03And Goldberg beats him.
00:12:05And you're like, what?
00:12:06What?
00:12:07He's still doing this?
00:12:09So the simple fact is that whether you're Gunther, whether you're a fan who is listening
00:12:13to this or watching this right now, we get, I'm not telling you how you feel.
00:12:18I'm not asking who should.
00:12:21I'm saying straight up, regardless of the era, you can't tell me the Goldberg is not winning
00:12:27the title.
00:12:28Because how many times have you said Goldberg's not winning the title?
00:12:32And then what happens?
00:12:33Well, Goldberg wins the title.
00:12:34Also, especially after what we saw last week, I didn't think Jey Uso was losing the title.
00:12:39Gunther's not winning the title.
00:12:40Exactly.
00:12:41And what happened?
00:12:41Gunther won the title.
00:12:42It is one of those things where it's like Goldberg and Gunther are both that inevitability.
00:12:48Interesting.
00:12:48I mean, I can't wait to see.
00:12:50I know that the opinions are going to be very, very mixed on it.
00:12:52And part of that is because the reality is that there are people who do not want Goldberg
00:12:57to be the champion, but know if Goldberg's in a championship match, especially in Atlanta.
00:13:03Goldberg doesn't lose that much.
00:13:04You know what I mean?
00:13:06In any era, Goldberg doesn't lose all that much.
00:13:08Gunther doesn't either.
00:13:08And that is maybe what makes this all so compelling.
00:13:13We're going to be talking to Bayley in a few minutes.
00:13:16But before we do, Jey Uso qualifies for the King of the Ring semifinals, beautiful Fatal

00:13:28I mean, action, action, action, action.

00:13:32Everything really got tied together a little bit.
00:13:34I mean, I love it when things get tied together.
00:13:36You're talking about Jey Uso.

00:13:38You're talking about Sheamus.
00:13:39You're talking about four guys who decided like, oh, these are the television minutes
00:13:43that we get at the end of this show.
00:13:45Let's use all of them.
00:13:46I found especially Sheamus and Rusev that were like, whenever that ring is empty, we're
00:13:52going to go in there and we're going to beat each other into oblivion.
00:13:55Which gets all of us really excited because we've seen this teased and we know that they
00:14:00have a past.
00:14:01When I saw that those were two of the names confirmed in the Fatal 4-Away, it was like,
00:14:05oh.
00:14:06Amazing.
00:14:06I can't wait for Rusev Sheamus.
00:14:08And I want more Rusev Sheamus coming out of the Fatal 4-Away.
00:14:11I mean, I guarantee.
00:14:12I can't guarantee, but I can guarantee.
00:14:14We're going to get it.
00:14:15We'd be insane if we didn't get it.

00:14:18I mean, but yeah, I think that's what's around the corner.

00:14:40They always think they have the upper hand, but they don't always have the upper hand.

00:16:38And that means, remember what Seth Rollins said, he wanted control of both championships.
00:16:43He could cash in on one while whoever won the King of the Ring tournament got to cash
00:16:47in on the other.
00:16:48Now Seth Rollins' group is completely out of this tournament.
00:16:50He's furious.
00:16:51He's ready to stomp Jey Uso.

00:17:36And it has traveled all the way down since then.
00:17:40Seth Rollins was able to rise to where he rose by sticking it out in the WWE.
00:17:45Cody Rhodes had to leave and come back.
00:17:47And then they square each other off at WrestleMania 38 for three years now.
00:17:51The rivalry just bruised and bruised and bruised and bruised to the point where you don't
00:17:54even realize that this is still cooking until they're in the ring and until they are face
00:18:02to face and there are a handful of people in the WWE that no matter what else in the world
00:18:07is going on, that when they get in the ring and they stare each other down, the world stops.
00:18:14And that's what it felt like tonight.
00:18:16100% right.
00:18:17I mean, Seth was shaking.
00:18:19Yes.
00:18:20Emotion.
00:18:20Yes.
00:18:21Just raw emotion.
00:18:22We've been getting a lot of little nuggets lately and it gets me very excited for where
00:18:27everything is going and how things are combining.
00:18:29I mean, we saw we saw Punk and Cody have a moment backstage on SmackDown.
00:18:33I mean, we have we have Rollins and Cody have a moment tonight on Raw.
00:18:37Just that little thing.
00:18:38You know, we can't avoid each other forever, right?
00:18:41And I go, oh, my God, like this is this is an earth shattering match.
00:18:44That's an earth shattering match.
00:18:46This is I need to see that.
00:18:47I need to see how about a rematch of this.
00:18:48I mean, it's nuts.
00:18:50And then you kind of come to the realization after Seth Rollins decides to leave that we're
00:18:55getting next week in the semifinal for King of the Ring, Cody Rhodes versus Jey Uso, which
00:19:01is a match that we've wanted for a long time.
00:19:03But they're brothers.
00:19:04But here's the thing.
00:19:05Jey Uso does not become the world heavyweight champion, does not become single star Jey Uso
00:19:10without Cody Rhodes.
00:19:11That's right.
00:19:11Because Cody Rhodes brought Jey Uso over to Monday Night Raw.
00:19:14Cody Rhodes is an integral part of Jey Uso becoming a singles star.
00:19:19That's 100 percent right.
00:19:20And leaving the bloodline and finding that independent voice.
00:19:23But maybe Jey Uso is a big part of Cody Rhodes being able to finally overcome the bloodline.
00:19:30You know, the fact that Jey Uso stepped aside, the fact that which side was Jey Uso on at
00:19:34WrestleMania 40?
00:19:36They needed each other.
00:19:37Yes.
00:19:37Yes.
00:19:38And so to see that, I mean, I think it's going to be one for the ages, good guy versus
00:19:45good guy, one common goal, but two guys that if not, and this is what I love about tournaments,
00:19:52if not for the way the brackets are laid out, we'd never see this match.
00:19:58It just wouldn't happen.
00:19:59There'd be no reason for it.
00:20:00But because of how tournaments are, this is where we're at.
00:20:03And it's amazing.
00:20:04And just as we're talking about these matches, we find out that next week, Intercontinental
00:20:10Championship is on the line between Bailey and Becky Lynch.
00:20:14Now, before, by the way, we get to Bailey, who's backstage in Green Bay, I do want to
00:20:20tell you that, Megan, I see what you're wearing tonight.

00:25:00Because tonight, Becky, you know, part of what she said was that she showed up at WrestleMania and nobody cared that you weren't there.
00:25:08But what was interesting is I thought, you know, reading what I was reading, that a lot of fans really did care.
00:25:15And you not having a WrestleMania match this year promised and then having it kind of taken away was a real thing that people cared about and felt you were wronged about.
00:25:25And to see it kind of evolve into what it's evolved into on television is kind of an amazing thing.
00:25:34But for you to come back now with that momentum, how much is that feeling of knowing that that was there and then not there kind of in you?
00:25:45A lot.
00:25:47I was honestly like pretty emotional coming into work today and coming knowing that I was coming out here to talk about it because I just haven't talked to anybody about it.
00:25:58And what like I truly felt and how it made me feel to miss that that show.
00:26:02So, I mean, like I said tonight, I don't work just for the big matches.
00:26:07I don't work just for the big spotlights, but it obviously is one of the biggest nights of the year.
00:26:13And we only get so many of those in our career.
00:26:15And I've been lucky enough to have a lot of WrestleManias under my belt doing a little bit of everything, you know, all kinds of different matches and hosting WrestleMania.
00:26:23But this one I was really excited for to be back in the tag division after, you know, having a pretty good run in that gauntlet match with Lyra.
00:26:32It was something that I was really looking forward to.
00:26:33So to be taken out of it by somebody that that I've known since the beginning and somebody that I've really grown up with in this on this path and on this journey, like just to see how she's changed, how Becky's changed throughout these years is just it's annoying and it's disgusting that she has to go to these lengths to get ahead.
00:26:56But I mean, it is what it is.
00:26:57I think that it's really sounds cheesy, but for sure, like definitely lit a fire under me and something that I was missing, even in my title reign, my last title reign, I think there was something missing.
00:27:08And I think it's good to have this chip on my shoulder now and to be able to talk about it and to be able to freaking fight from it and to be able to have something to fight for.
00:27:16Yeah, I mean, I think it's really, really, I mean, insanely interesting when you look at the four horsewomen as somebody who was there watching the four of you kind of craft what we know as this division, in my opinion.
00:27:33And to see all four of you evolve so completely differently to the point that you would think, right, that all these years later there would be something that would join you guys back together.
00:27:45There would be some kind of a reunion feel, but instead it feels like like later on this thing that was once all about sort of the unity of building something has been kind of defined by this friction.
00:27:58And the fact that, like, the first thing Becky says when she comes back is like, yeah, I've hated Bailey for a long time.
00:28:05Are these grudges that have kind of existed and been, I don't know, bubbling under the surface for years?
00:28:13Or is this something that comes with success?
00:28:14Or how does this happen?
00:28:16I mean, I think it's a little bit of everything.
00:28:18And, man, it's a very, I feel it's a little complicated.
00:28:23It's a very, like, sisterly family type situation when it comes to the four of us.
00:28:29And if I'm being quite honest, I've never really been close to Becky where it's like I've never rode to shows together with her.
00:28:36And I've never been close to Charlotte.
00:28:37I've never, you know, we never had that relationship of like, oh, let's go out to dinner after the show, which what I had with Sasha, you know, like it was always, it was different.
00:28:48So I can understand where this is coming from, from Becky, because it was never really there.
00:28:54I thought there was some type of unity there, though.
00:28:58I thought there was some type of like with the history and everything that we had gone through, all the training and all the matches that we've had together and everything that we fought for and stood for in such an important time in women's wrestling, in the WWE, to come up and do this together, to make change in the women's division.
00:29:14And I thought that was a bond strong enough, but apparently not after all these years, she still has some sort of insecurity and something against me that she's still hanging on to and that she still has to lash out on.
00:29:25And you know what?
00:29:26That doesn't take away everything that we've done, though.
00:29:28It doesn't take away the changes and the growth that we've put towards the women's division.
00:29:33But that does make it a problem for her because it's not something that I'm just going to sit back and take.
00:29:39And now she says I'm the nice one and I can play second fiddle and I'm okay with it, but I'm not anymore, Becky.
00:29:44I'm not.
00:29:45I'm not okay with getting walked all over.
00:29:47I'm not okay with getting called trash and she took out the garbage and she thinks it's funny.
00:29:51I've been in this company for 12 years, 12 and a half years.
00:29:57I've been here six months longer than she even stepped foot in the performance center.
00:30:01So it's not a game to me and I'm not somebody that you can just call trash and think it's okay.
00:30:05I'm not going to let it sit like that.
00:30:09What made you coming back now?
00:30:11Like what makes now feel like the right time to do it?
00:30:16Well, first I had to, you know, my shoulder had to get better.
00:30:19I think, you know, it just Becky's games have gone too far.
00:30:24Um, you know, her turning on Lyra that second night was terrible, freaking annoying and heartbreaking for Lyra.
00:30:33But, um, you know, I kind of just had to sit back and see how everything played out.
00:30:40And, and to me, like, I know my issue is with Becky, but while this is going on, while her and Lyra, you know, going back and forth, there's really nothing that I can do.
00:30:48And I just had to, you know, strike when the time was right.
00:30:52And that's when she's her happiest as the new women's intercontinental champion.
00:30:56And, and, uh, that's exactly why I decided to come back that night.
00:30:59Well, Bailey, when I think about your career, I think about how aggressive that you've always been.
00:31:04I mean, back when you cashed in on Charlotte in 2019, you went on, you know, a 500 day plus rain.
00:31:10And you were so aggressive when you started damage control, aggressive.
00:31:14Once again, Becky Lynch is acting extremely aggressive right now.
00:31:20So what's it going to take for the aggressive side of, of Bailey to come back and, uh, take that title from Becky.
00:31:28I always, you know, I always say, and I always think and prove that experience always plays the game and everything and everything that Becky's saying and everything that she's claiming,
00:31:38she feels and claiming that she doesn't care about the people or whatever.
00:31:42I've been through all of these stages.
00:31:44I've gone through the rollercoaster of the career.
00:31:47I've been happy.
00:31:48I've been sad.
00:31:48I've been mad every single day at this job.
00:31:51You guys know, we feel like every single emotion in one day.
00:31:54Like I, I've, I've, I know everything that she's going through and I bet I can name her next step.
00:31:59I bet I know what she's thinking about doing next week in our title match, but she thinks I'm an idiot.
00:32:06She still thinks she's thinking of old NXT Bailey that, you know, she can just jump from behind.
00:32:12She still thinks that I don't know how to stand up for, for myself.
00:32:16Um, so to me, it's going to take all those rules of, or all those years of experience and bring out my stone cold DTA attitude and just show her what I can be all about this time around.
00:32:26Now I'm saying what, what, what, well, I did want to ask you about Lyra Valkyria, because we saw you two interact backstage tonight.
00:32:35Tonight on raw and you know, you're someone who always helps everybody out, always lifting up the next generation, but it stood out to me that you didn't reach out to Lyra.
00:32:49You mean after WrestleMania?
00:32:51Yeah.
00:32:51And then you said it was heartbreaking to watch her get taken out by Becky Lynch, but, but you didn't respond to the text.
00:32:56What's going on?
00:32:59I, uh, to, you know, it's not personal towards Lyra, but when I was taken out at WrestleMania, like me healing and me going through that injury and me watching WrestleMania from home, like just wasn't about her.
00:33:13Like everything I was feeling wasn't about her.
00:33:17And as much as I loved the tag team we formed in two weeks, three weeks.
00:33:23And I really feel like we were on a roll and that people were getting behind us.
00:33:27Like she's incredible.
00:33:28And I really enjoyed, you know, being by her side and being across the ring from her.
00:33:33Um, but what happened at Mania, like goes beyond that.
00:33:37And she doesn't even know, like if she thinks she was betrayed by Becky, like she has no idea what the history has been like between Becky and I, and what, and it, and that goes beyond what's what you've seen on TV.
00:33:49Like nobody knows how Becky and I are in the back.
00:33:53Lyra doesn't know she's still brand new.
00:33:56So it really, uh, just doesn't have anything to do with her.
00:34:00And I didn't do it to be mean.
00:34:02Um, but it was just, I just had to be alone at that time.
00:34:06And, uh, I, I think one day she'll see it.
00:34:08I don't know if she'll understand anytime soon.
00:34:10Um, she's still very young, like I said, but I think one day she'll understand.
00:34:14Well, you know, someone who did understand you tonight was actually Michael Cole.
00:34:18I don't know if you heard, but he said that Bailey was making a lot of sense tonight on Monday Night Raw.
00:34:24Wow.
00:34:25Michael Cole.
00:34:26You don't say that little idiot finally said something nice about me.
00:34:31Well, uh, I know he missed me.
00:34:33He tries to pretend like he doesn't miss me, but he does.
00:34:36He texts me every single Tuesday saying, I wish you were there last night for the last two months.
00:34:40Um, but the thing about Cole is that he does, he's, he's there every single week and he sees everything.
00:34:47He, he hears everything and he's been here for a very long time.
00:34:50So he, he knows snakes when he sees them and he knows real ones when he sees them.
00:34:54And I think that's what he's saying out of me right now.
00:34:57So when you talk about, you were talking about 12 years and all your experience.
00:35:00And in those 12 years, I mean, it's not like it's just been a stagnant 12 years, but a pretty
00:35:05remarkable 12 years.
00:35:08I would think that everything that you've ever dreamed of when you had a side ponytail looking
00:35:13at the world wide eye going, what can I accomplish?
00:35:15I mean, from like WrestleMania's to championships to literally still to this day, having a match
00:35:23that is on a lot of people's top 10, if not top five of all time in Brooklyn.
00:35:27But I was watching like over the weekend, one of the big conversations in the sport of golf
00:35:32was Rory McIlroy, right?
00:35:34You're a big golf guy, big golf guy.
00:35:36And we're the biggest golf guy.
00:35:39But everybody says that Rory McIlroy top golf guy, everybody.
00:35:46They're all saying since Rory McIlroy won the big one, he hasn't been able to find the motivation
00:35:52to keep playing like he used to.
00:35:54He hasn't been able to find the motivation to keep winning.
00:35:56I would think that this exact same thing applies to WWE, whether it's just about winning the
00:36:01big one or whether it's about somebody like you who came in full of dreams that they wanted
00:36:06to come true.
00:36:07And all of those dreams, I would think, have come true.
00:36:10When you find yourself in this position, which maybe you never thought you'd be in, how do
00:36:15you find motivation to still have those massive moments?
00:36:20Because I was kicked off of WrestleMania.
00:36:22I got taken out from WrestleMania.
00:36:24There's always something.
00:36:26And I've said this.
00:36:27I said this in my interview with Chris Van Vliet since Becky wants to bring it up.
00:36:32And those are all real feelings.
00:36:33So she can talk about it.
00:36:35She can make fun of it.
00:36:36But that was before WrestleMania.
00:36:37This is post-WrestleMania, Bayley.
00:36:39That was pre-WrestleMania, Bayley.
00:36:40And we're very different now.
00:36:42But there's always been a chip on my shoulder for the reasons and everything that Becky
00:36:49has gotten instead of me.
00:36:52Everything, all the pedestals that she's been put on, all the talk shows she's gotten to
00:36:56do.
00:36:56And I'm not embarrassed to talk about it.
00:36:58It's always been a chip on my shoulder.
00:36:59And it's always bothered me.
00:37:01And that's always pushed me to this point up until WrestleMania when it just knocked me
00:37:06straight to the ground and said, you're still not good enough.
00:37:09And that chip on your shoulder, it's going to win.
00:37:11You're never going to get up from this.
00:37:13That is what is pushing me right now.
00:37:15There's it's, I feel like there's chapters of it and that's, what's pushing me right now.
00:37:19I got to prove them wrong.
00:37:20I got to prove her wrong.
00:37:21I have to prove myself right that I can get to that spot and I'm going to go through Becky
00:37:26to do it.
00:37:26And I couldn't have think, couldn't have thunk of a better person to go through to prove
00:37:30that to the world.
00:37:31When I look at this match, I've already, I mean, and I've been talking about this on podcast
00:37:37left and right that to me, Becky versus Bailey has the potential to be one of those rivalries
00:37:45that defines what the women's intercontinental championship is as somebody who I think has
00:37:50been at the forefront of, of, of championing four championships for women, whether it was
00:37:55a tag team championship, whether it was a championship, like the intercontinental championship
00:37:59to having this division.
00:38:00But I feel like when you look at that IC title on the men's side of things, you think of
00:38:06Sean and Brett, you think of Brett and perfect, you think of all these, you know, massive sort
00:38:13of, of rivalries amongst iconic stars.
00:38:16And to me, that's how I start to feel when I think of the idea that Becky and Bailey are
00:38:23fighting for the intercontinental championship.
00:38:25And it feels like one of those things that could last forever.
00:38:28Are you looking right now at this in terms of a title?
00:38:32Are you looking at it in terms of what the legacy of this rivalry could do for that title?
00:38:36Or is this simply a personal matter?
00:38:40Well, thank you for saying that.
00:38:42It's really cool to think that people may think like that.
00:38:45I think to me, it's not about the title right now.
00:38:50It's just kind of like a cherry on top, to be honest.
00:38:52As much as I would love to win that title, as much as I would love to win the US Women's
00:38:58Championship title, because those are things I've never done before.
00:39:01Like you said, like I've done a lot, almost everything, but there's two brand new titles
00:39:05that I've never won that I wouldn't mind carrying and calling myself one of those champions one
00:39:10day.
00:39:10But I also think that the intercontinental title for the women, it started off really well.
00:39:18I think the tournament was awesome.
00:39:21All the matches that Lyra had and defended, I think were freaking great.
00:39:24I think she was a perfect inaugural champion.
00:39:27And I think like the whole workhorse title really showcased in the women's division as
00:39:35well.
00:39:35I think it got off to a good start.
00:39:36But I do believe, you know, for Becky and I to bring our experience to that championship
00:39:43and get the eyes on it, it's only going to make everybody in the division hungrier to
00:39:48get that title.
00:39:50And that's what it's all about.
00:39:50And that's really like bringing in the tag titles like that was always the goal was to
00:39:55bring more eyes on more women in the division, make the women more hungry and want something
00:40:00bigger and better and more for themselves.
00:40:03And I think that's what this is going to do.
00:40:05And if a match between Becky and I can, you know, even level it up just a little bit,
00:40:10then that's what I want to do.
00:40:12But I'm just here to beat the living crap out of her.
00:40:19And my shoulder is nice and healthy now.
00:40:21So I think the title would fit perfectly.

00:57:53And sometimes that's the best guys in the roster.
00:57:56But like us, I think back to when we were really rolling with the new day and the Dudleys
00:58:01came back.
00:58:01And so you're not only getting an opportunity to share the ring with the best of your time,
00:58:05but you're also getting to share the ring with legends.
00:58:08And when you look back, I look, I think a lot of our hardcore fans might roll their eyes
00:58:12and say, why Goldberg?
00:58:12But if you're a Gunther fan, I think when it's all said and done, you want to look at
00:58:18the list of names on his resume that he's beaten.
00:58:22And it's going to have guys from who had their heyday 20 years ago, guys now younger guys who
00:58:27are going to be future world champions.
00:58:29So I think it's such a great test for Gunther.
00:58:32I think, honestly, I think for a lot of fans that they want to see Gunther move on from

00:58:37And this is such a unique out of the box.

00:58:54And that's what I love about our industry is you get to make these matches in these
00:58:58moments that a lot of times you would never expect.

00:59:07Goldberg is why some people absolutely hate when Goldberg comes back, because if there's
00:59:11anything that we've learned, even about I was saying this earlier about modern day
00:59:15WWE, that there was a time when Goldberg would return and you'd think it was for one
00:59:20match or whatever.
00:59:21And he'd be in a title match and you go, well, Goldberg's not going to win the title.
00:59:25And then Goldberg would win the title.
00:59:26Like, that's the thing about Goldberg is that he's in a title match in his hometown.
00:59:32There's a, I mean, at least a decent chance that however it's going to work, he's winning
00:59:38that title.
00:59:39It's possible.
00:59:40Yeah.
00:59:40Like you said, it is, it is very possible.
00:59:42It's on the table.
00:59:44And look, for a lot of people who are detractors, feel how you want to feel.
00:59:46But listen to that crowd reception.

00:59:51They were, they were there for it.
00:59:52I think a lot of us who are a little bit older, it harkens back to our childhood.
00:59:56I think even for the younger fans, if you don't know his backstory, you see this menacing
01:00:01guy, he might be in his fifties right now, but he's still in incredible shape.
01:00:04He's still, the muscles are still bulging.
01:00:07It's, it's a test.
01:00:08Look, I, I don't, this version of Gunther, I'm not picking anyone against Gunther, but it
01:00:14is, it is very possible.
01:00:15And I think that's what intrigues you is, is, could, could we see it right?
01:00:20Could this really happen?
01:00:21Is this possible?
01:00:22I don't think so, but maybe, I mean, I mean, just, just that moment, just for the moment
01:00:26that will happen when the jackhammer gets hit and the referee's hand counts for two,
01:00:33that moment of the referee's hand coming up and whether or not it hits the mat, that
01:00:38moment that we will all collectively be going, no, whether it happens or not, it would,
01:00:44that's, that's the moment.

01:00:48But look, I also need, like, Goldberg has done interviews for months talking about injuring
01:00:53himself in preparation.
01:00:54There was a time we saw him coming out with blood pouring from his head.

01:01:01I need my guy just obviously still trained, still focused, but let's maybe, maybe add a

01:01:12We need him to walk into that match, but like you said, we really don't know how that match
01:01:16will go, and I think that's the really intriguing part.
01:01:18Also, there's so much of that chess meat on Goldberg for Gunther to chop.
01:01:23Those things are going to sound off.

01:01:27I didn't even think about the chess meat, to tell you the truth.

01:01:30He is always thinking about the meat.

01:01:34Well, look, speaking of intriguing, let's talk about the fact that we have the semifinals
01:01:40nailed for the King of the Ring and the Queen of the Ring, and I think what makes both these
01:01:45tournaments, it gives them a new wrinkle to talk about is that, you know, back when we
01:01:52were growing up, it was kind of assumed that at some point, whoever won King of the Ring
01:01:57is going to fight for a title or something.
01:01:59But the fact that we know whoever wins these tournaments are going to MetLife, like they're
01:02:05going to a stadium to fight for the championship, I think elevates everything.
01:02:09King of the Ring, on one side, you got Randy Orton versus Sami Zayn, which we'll see on Friday.
01:02:18And next Monday, Cody Rhodes versus Jey Uso.
01:02:23What are your thoughts?
01:02:25We're going to get two great matches on the men's side.
01:02:28We already know that.
01:02:29But I think all the matches, both matches feel like coin flips to me.
01:02:34I really could see both those matches going either way.
01:02:38Man, it is, the Jey and Cody match intrigues me so much, obviously because of their friendship,
01:02:44but also just what is Jey's direction?
01:02:48That's my biggest thing.
01:02:50Jey's not a world champion anymore.
01:02:52And it seems like he might be, he might be right back into that picture at SummerSlam.
01:02:56We'll see, but if he doesn't win this tournament, if he doesn't beat Cody and then beat the winner of Sami and Randy,
01:03:05who is Jey Uso now?
01:03:07I've heard some rumblings.
01:03:09Obviously, there was the promo that was just placed online by Woods and Kof kind of getting on Jey's back after he lost the title.
01:03:17And some people are kind of wondering, are we getting to Jimmy and Jey reuniting?
01:03:23Is he going back to the tag division?
01:03:25Is that on the table?
01:03:26Is Jey going to remain a single star?
01:03:29Is he just going to be a fun act that sells a lot of merch?
01:03:32Or is he going to be at the very top of his business?
01:03:35That, for me, is the biggest question.
01:03:37I feel like I have a lot of confidence in knowing where Cody is headed.
01:03:41I think Cody is going to be a world champion again.
01:03:43In fact, I would put good money on that.
01:03:46And I think Jey has the ability.
01:03:47Don't get me wrong.
01:03:48But this is really such a crucial point for him.
01:03:51And I think a lot of that is on him, is him deciding, hey, am I going to be okay with all the media,
01:03:59with all the commercial shoots, with all the press, all those things that come with being that guy?
01:04:04Do I want to continue down that road?
01:04:06Or am I saying, you know what?
01:04:07I got my taste.
01:04:09I don't need to focus as much for this Cody match.
01:04:11If I slink back to the mid-card, if I, look, I spent the bulk of my career in the tag division.
01:04:15I have so much love for the tag division.
01:04:17I don't want to consider that a demotion.
01:04:19But I think when we talk about the way our cards are structured in WWE, being a world champion, that is it.
01:04:26That is the mountaintop.
01:04:27So that, for me, is the biggest question.
01:04:29And obviously, on the Sami and Randy side, I think we're just going to get a really great match with two of the best performers.
01:04:37Sami's discussion about wanting to be a world champion, to me, it's kind of wild to think about how much Sami has done in this company.
01:04:45But he really hasn't been very close to being a world champion.
01:04:49His body of work is undeniable.
01:04:51First ballot Hall of Famer.
01:04:53Truly one of the best to ever do it.
01:04:55One of the most diverse.
01:04:57And he can have a great comedy match.
01:04:58He can have a great hard-hitting match, tag team champion, all those things.
01:05:03But, you know, I think there are a lot of people that would just kind of like a Mick Foley-esque run at a world championship of a guy who is just, he has been here.
01:05:12We love him.
01:05:12We have rooted for him.
01:05:13He has put his body through hell.
01:05:16And is he finally, before he, before it's all said and done, before he retires, is he going to get an opportunity to be world champion?
01:05:22So that really intrigues me as well.
01:05:23And then I also have to say, you know, there's Randy, and when we talk about the most world championships in WWE, obviously, John Cena right now is the gold standard.
01:05:32But Randy has not talked about this being his last year or bowing out the year after.
01:05:37Randy says he has several more years left.
01:05:39Is this Randy's bid to meet or break Cena's record?
01:05:43Does he get to 18, 19?
01:05:44We don't know.
01:05:45So I think all those different storylines really intrigue me in these two matches.
01:05:49And what's great, too, is if any of those four people, any one of them could get speared by Goldberg, who retains the title at SummerSlam, baby.
01:05:59That's very true.
01:06:00Goldberg's walking in as champion.
01:06:02He's walking out as champion.
01:06:04That's very possible.
01:06:06That is true.
01:06:06And then Queen of the Ring on SmackDown, we've got, I believe, Asuka versus Alexa Bliss.
01:06:13And then on Monday, we're going to have Jade Cargill versus Roxanne Perez, I believe, is how it pans out.
01:06:21I mean, for me, I'm feeling, and this is very interesting, like Jade Cargill versus Asuka could be your Queen of the Ring final.
01:06:33It very well could.
01:06:35I will say, I think I've noticed over the last couple months or so, I think Jade has improved in ways that we have not really talked about.
01:06:44Seeing her, she's no longer in a tag.
01:06:45I think, obviously, she was paired with Bianca for so long.
01:06:49And being able to be with someone who is that talented and that good, oftentimes you can hide your weaknesses.
01:06:54And a lot of people have clamored for Jade to prove that she deserves to be on this level.
01:06:58And when you're in four ways with some of the best women in the world, when you're in these singles matches, it's not, okay, can you really sink or swim?
01:07:05And I think she, what I've seen with my eyes, is someone who's improving.
01:07:08She looks more comfortable in the ring as well.
01:07:10And then on the other side, I think of the prodigy who is still so incredibly young but is so talented.
01:07:17And in this new crop of women, I feel like it is so easy to get lost, and she hasn't by any means.
01:07:22She's proved every single week she's been on TV that she is extremely talented, someone who very well could win this whole thing.
01:07:30And then also, I have to, I don't think we give enough love to Asuka.
01:07:35She really is tremendous.
01:07:38And I think somewhere between we had the four horsewomen, we had kind of that Bianca, Rhea crop come out as well.
01:07:45And we've talked, we know how great Asuka is, but we also don't talk about it enough.
01:07:51It's not present of mine.
01:07:52And obviously, she's been out for a year as well.
01:07:56She, to me, is one of my favorite wrestlers on the planet, bar none.
01:07:59Just male, women, in any company, she is truly incredible.
01:08:04It wouldn't surprise me one bit to see Asuka win the tournament and, at SummerSlam, become a world champion once again.
01:08:11So, yeah, we have such a great field.
01:08:12And there's Alexa Bliss as well, who has come back.
01:08:15And I don't know how she has bounced back the way she has after having a baby.
01:08:20She looks like the old Alexa Bliss of old.
01:08:24She's been incredible.
01:08:26The fans have taken to her.
01:08:27She has a lot of momentum right now as well.
01:08:29So I think the field on the women's side is really stacked too.
01:08:31And that also feels like a coin flip.
01:08:34So is it, do we see, on one end, we have Asuka, who's been doing this for, what, 20-something years?
01:08:38And we have Roxanne, who has been about alive as long as Asuka's been in the house.
01:08:45So, yeah, it really is such a great, we have so many different people who are different points of their lives and careers as well on the women's side.
01:08:51Before we let you go, even though this didn't happen on Raw, I mean, I'm starting to feel like we need to do a SmackDown recap podcast too,
01:08:59because we're walking into a Friday Night SmackDown where we've got R-Truth or Ron Killings or however you're addressing him versus John Cena.
01:09:10This man went from released to I'm the first guy getting John Cena to do a rematch.
01:09:18And I'm the first guy in this run, in this run, and I'm the first guy in this run getting John Cena to wrestle on television.
01:09:25What are you looking at when you're looking at John Cena versus Truth on Friday?
01:09:31Oh, man, I can't help but smile because I can only imagine how chaotic that few days was for Truth.
01:09:38The reception online from his peers, from fans, we were in L.A. doing the pre-shows and the post-shows, the countdown shows,
01:09:47and the Truth chants, man, like people were so behind him.

01:10:18So that, I'm so inspired by him.
01:10:20And, man, to see someone who is in his 50s, and it feels like we're seeing a version of him we have never seen in WWE,
01:10:27which is, like, it is such a testament to an incredible performer.
01:10:30I think so often in this industry, it is very, when you're really good at something,
01:10:35like, Ron is amazing at comedy.
01:10:38Ron is incredible at comedy.
01:10:41The way he brings smiles to people's faces, not only on screen, but backstage as well.
01:10:46Honestly, maybe the most beloved man I have ever come across in this industry, and maybe in life.
01:10:52Just truly beloved.
01:10:53But I feel like we're seeing a version of him that we haven't seen.
01:10:58I remember his run, I think, around 2011, where he was smoking in a building.
01:11:03He was also, weirdly, a Confederate soldier as well.
01:11:06He was.
01:11:07I don't know if we want to remember that part.
01:11:08But even then, like, that dastardly version of R-Truth, Ron Killings doesn't feel like this version.
01:11:15This feels like a man who is tired of being put in a box, who is tired of being told how to present himself, of who to be, of how to make people feel.
01:11:25This is someone who wants to finish his career on his terms.
01:11:30And he is no longer the John Cena fanboy.
01:11:34He is no longer here to make people smile and laugh.
01:11:37He's doing it his way.
01:11:38And I don't put anything past this version of R-Truth.
01:11:42If he is the one to dethrone John Cena, it is, uttering that sentence two weeks ago, three weeks ago, you'd get laughed out of the building.
01:11:53But now, now, it wouldn't shock me one bit.
01:11:58This version of R-Truth can beat anybody.
01:12:01He is so focused.
01:12:03He is so locked in.
01:12:05He is so determined.
01:12:06I see the look in his eyes.
01:12:07I buy every single word that this man says.
01:12:10I believe it, and I believe he feels it in his core.
01:12:13And it's hard not to root for him.
01:12:15It is hard not to, like, every time I see him on screen, every time I see a tweet, I smile because he is the picture of perseverance.
01:12:24He is the picture of endurance.
01:12:26So often in our industry, the greasy, sorry, the squeaky wheel gets the grease.
01:12:31That's the one.
01:12:32It's the people who complain and oftentimes have bad attitudes and cause chaos backstage.
01:12:38That has never been R-Truth.
01:12:40And so many times, the people who do things the right way don't get the opportunities when they should.
01:12:46And I think what R-Truth is doing is really a testament of getting to do things your way, being able to look yourself in the mirror and know that you did right by people, that you were earnest, that you were honest, that you gave your all, that you truly did it the right way.
01:13:02And now, like, he is getting to call his own shots, and this match with Cena, what's to come?
01:13:10I don't know what's after this match with Cena.
01:13:12I don't know where this is going, but I'm just going to say I'm riveted to everything that R-Truth or Ron Killings is doing right now.
