Europeans evacuated from Israel land in Bratislava
A plane carrying 73 people evacuated from Israel via Jordan landed in Bratislava on Monday, June 16, as Israel and Iran launched waves of air strikes and missiles at each other for a fourth day.
Thirty Slovakian nationals were on the flight, Foreign Minister Juraj Blanar said, 25 tourists and five embassy staff. Fifteen Polish nationals, 14 Czech, two Slovenian, nine Austrian and one national each of Estonia, Spain and Malaysia were also on the flight.
The evacuation came as Israeli forces stepped up their bombardment of Iranian cities, while Iran proved capable of piercing Israeli air defenses with one of its most successful volleys yet of retaliatory missile strikes.
