Carlsen Field residents are traumatised after having unsuccessfully tried for years to get protection from the state.

The most recent murder has them wondering how much longer will their pleas fall on deaf ears.

Alexander Bruzual was in the area today and filed this report.

00:00Carlson Field is not the law house. Carlson Field is not a graveyard either. We want this change.
00:09A passionate plea from residents of Carlson Field today following the murder of 20-year-old Savannah Dyer.
00:15Dyer, a river estate in Diggomarton, was found dead on Saturday morning in Carlson Field.
00:21Her body bore wounds to the head and she was dressed in the same clothing seen in a WhatsApp stater she posted the night before.
00:28The murder has pushed residents to speak out again about what they say is years of neglect and increasing threats to their safety.
00:37We are demanding because it's a long time now we have been asking for regular police patrol. We have no patrols.
00:45Khan said promises of police presence came after previous murders but the efforts never lasted.
00:52We were promised last time when this neighbor here got shot and his son got killed.
00:59Right?
01:01For two, almost, not even for two weeks, about 10 days after the murder, we had patrols.
01:07Since then we stopped seeing all of that, have discontinued.
01:10He also questioned the functionality of the Paredia Larceny Squad, located not far from where Dyer's body was found.
01:17The Paredia Larceny Squad is operating not too far from where Dyer got killed, as he reports said.
01:24Since December, they have a sewer system not working.
01:27Additionally, he claims that the four vehicles attached to the unit are currently not operational.
01:33Khan says even with repeated complaints, issues are not being addressed, something that should not be happening.
01:41Why do we have to have a problem escalated in this situation that we have to be begging today for some support from the protective services?
01:51The Carlson Field community, known for its agricultural output, feels exposed and abandoned.
01:58So we have been leaving the walls in this area here and we're saying enough is enough.
02:02Khan also called on the Prime Minister to fulfil past promises regarding firearm users' licenses.
02:08Our Prime Minister, who was then opposition leader, promised FUL to citizens of our production.
02:17We are saying, Madam Prime Minister, we need that urgently because we are up against the wall.
02:24Farmers need to have their FUL, as you promised, as you promised to do for the citizens.
02:30In addition to crime, residents say poor infrastructure and basic neglect are worsening conditions.
02:39One resident lamented that despite repeated calls to stop, some persons were still using the community as a dumping ground.
02:47We are tired of waiting. We are tired of begging.
02:52We are tired of trying to help ourselves and there's no support.
02:55And even when residents try to help themselves by cleaning the area or trying to fix infrastructure, they face resistance and violence.
03:06Kreese recounted being threatened while attempting to clean her community with her husband and other residents.
03:13We were threatened.
03:16Someone made this sign to me.
03:19I'm told because I tried to take a picture of the vehicle and I was threatened with a sign of a gun.
03:30She says the roads are now in such poor condition, they've become hazardous and with damaging vehicles.
03:38We have large potholes.
03:41You can't even call them potholes.
03:42Again, they're like big craters in the road.
03:44Dead animals, garbage dumping, broken streetlights and tall grass left unattended for years.
03:52Residents say the list of problems keep growing.
03:55Where is the care?
03:58Where is the concern?
03:59We are tired of this.
04:01We are tired.
04:02We are tired and we want redress.
04:06These are basic fundamental rights that we need to have.
04:12We are coming together to help ourselves.
04:15Please, meet with us.
04:17Please do something.
04:19We are tired of the talk over the years.
04:22We don't want promises.
04:24We want redress.
04:25We want action.
04:27Carlson Field residents say they are ready to work with the authorities but are no longer willing to wait.
04:34They want immediate intervention before another life is lost.
04:39Alexander Brouswell, TV6 News.
04:42We will be придумating back.
