00:00Mr. Abbas is calling for international forces to replace Hamas forces in Gaza.

00:06What has prompted this move and why now?

00:13Thank you for having me.

00:16First and foremost, the Palestinian Authority is the legitimate authority of the Palestinian people

00:21and they should return to the Gaza Strip because they are the legal authority

00:27and practice their legal jurisdiction over Gaza and the West Bank.

00:32Of course, when we talk about a Palestinian state or a project for a Palestinian state,

00:37it should be within one government, one weapon and one authority, one Palestinian national project.

00:44The Palestinian people also requires international protection.

00:49We are all witnessing the crimes against the humanity that Israel is doing in Gaza,

00:54the attacks in the West Bank, the settlements, all these attacks on the Palestinian mere existence

01:01require from the international community to pay attention and to save the Palestinian people

01:05from the cruelty and brutality of the Israeli occupation.

01:12Therefore, we don't have an army.

01:14We are defenseless.

01:15We don't have an air force.

01:16But we have the international community.

01:18We have the international law.

01:19We have the international resolution, more than 800 resolutions issued for the question of Palestine.

01:27Not one of them has been applied.

01:29We ask the question why.

01:31Therefore, it requires from the international community to take serious steps to preserve peace,

01:35to evoke peace and evoke the two-state solution,

01:38provide an international protection mechanism for the Palestinian people

01:41under the understanding that we have reached with the international community.

01:45That requires a serious will and a serious policy by the international community

01:50and on top of them, the United States, to go forward into a peaceful path.

01:55And that peaceful path must be based and can only be based on the two-state solution.
