00:00U.S. Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has fired all 17 members of a vaccine advisory committee, citing conflicts of interest.

00:12The vital scientific committee's role is to advise the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Vaccines.

00:20Kennedy Jr. has pledged to replace them with his own staff.

00:24The decision has been criticized by major physicians in the country.

00:29The current committee members were appointed by the Biden administration.

00:34The health secretary told local media that the Trump administration would not have been able to appoint new members until 2028.

00:43This would only have been possible by removing the current roster.

00:47Meanwhile, former director of the CDC Tom Frieden accused the health secretary of politicizing the committee,

00:55saying the health secretary's actions were based on false claims of conflict of interest.
