In today's GB News Daily Reflection we ask, would you like to be a better person?"One of the things the Holy Spirit does is change us. I think this is one of the main things that puts people off exploring faith, because it changes us."But that's not a bad thing. It's interested in making us more like Jesus. 00:04Hi, I'm Richard England, Vicar of Crofton Parish.
00:09Would you like to be a better person?
00:12I know I would.
00:13Most of us want to be better people.
00:15Most of our friends and family want us to be better people too.
00:18If you had to write down one or two ways in which you want to be a better person,
00:23what would you write?
00:24Less short-tempered?
00:26Harder working?
00:28Patient?
00:29Kinder?
00:30Less stuck in particular patterns of behavior?
00:32Less anxious?
00:34One of the things the Holy Spirit does is change us.
00:37I think this is one of the main things that puts people off exploring faith
00:41because they think it will change them.
00:44Well, it will.
00:45That might not be a bad thing.
00:47You see, the Holy Spirit isn't interested in making us more religious or more judgmental.
00:52He's interested in making us more like Jesus.
00:54That means kinder, more generous, more at peace in ourselves.
00:58Becoming more like Jesus actually means being more ourselves, at least the best version of ourselves.
01:06We'll never be perfect, and there are limits to how much a person will completely change.
01:10But the good news is that we are not alone in our desire to be better people.
01:14That's the work the Holy Spirit wants to do in us.
01:18We'll never be perfect.
01:19We'll never catch what we say.
01:32After you soon!
