Justin Thomas admits he's aware of how far Scottie Scheffler is in the world rankings ahead of the U.S. Open

00:00Golf hasn't had a gap at number one probably since you were in high school.

00:07I mean, it's been like 15 years.

00:09I mean, it's still on my mind.

00:11I mean, I even had the thought last week of, you know, I'm sure some people will laugh,

00:18but it's like if I can even catch them this year.

00:21It's like, you know, if I win however many tournaments the rest of the year

00:24and, I don't know, maybe Scottie doesn't play or something.

00:27Every single aspect of his game is unbelievable.

00:32I think his mental game is better than anybody out here.

00:35I think to be able to play with those expectations and to stay present as often as he has,

00:42to me, is maybe more impressive than even the golf he's playing.

00:47I just think it's so, so hard to do, and it's also so hard to explain if you're in his shoes.

00:52But, I mean, he just, yeah, it doesn't make any mistakes

00:56and almost kind of lets himself be in contention versus forces himself in contention.
