Tamil Nadu: In Pallapatti, Karur district a special goat market was organized for the Bakrid festival. Every year, many Muslim families who work in other parts of Tamil Nadu and abroad return to Pallapatti to celebrate Bakrid. As part of the celebration, a big goat market is held where traders from Karur, Tiruppur, Erode, Kangeyam, and Aravakurichi bring goats in vans, autos, and lorries. Thousands of people, including traders and butchers, gathered to buy goats. A 10 kg goat was sold for ₹12,000 to ₹20,000. Around ₹50 lakh worth of goats were sold in just one day. The traders were very happy with the sales. Bakrid will be celebrated in Tamil Nadu tomorrow.
