04 June - National weather forecast presented by Clare Nasir
Transcript
00:00Hello there and welcome to your Wednesday evening weather update from the Met Office.
00:05The countryside is getting greener by the day as we see more rain move in overnight
00:10and into tomorrow from the Atlantic.
00:12Low pressure sits towards the north of the UK and it's this system here which will bring
00:16some wet weather particularly to Northern Ireland, England and Wales, clipping the south
00:21of Scotland.
00:22It is moving away with sunshine and showers to follow as we head through to Friday.
00:28Friday into Saturday another system comes in again affecting England and Wales with some
00:33heavy showers, more about that in a moment.
00:36For the time being some late sunshine to end the day, pleasant outside but still windy across
00:40the north as well as the west where those showers will continue.
00:43But thickening clouds will bring some showery bursts of rain into the early hours of tomorrow
00:47morning and that rain becomes persistent across Northern Ireland as well as Wales and the south
00:53west of England as we head through to dawn.
00:56It's just holding up here but inland towards the north we could see values down to around
01:00four or five degrees Celsius to say the glens of Scotland.
01:04If you are stepping out first thing then tomorrow morning let's pick up on that wet weather.
01:08Some showery bursts towards the east of England, Northern Ireland, Wales, Northern England as
01:12well as the west country you'll see some persistent rain which is moving its way eastwards.
01:17Showers breaking out ahead of it.
01:19Some brighter skies to start across much of Scotland particularly across central and eastern
01:23areas but those showers continue across the Western Isles as well as the Northern Isles
01:27clipping mainland Scotland towards the north.
01:30So let's pick up on this massive cloud and rain as it extends its way eastwards.
01:36Some heavier pulses are likely north Wales, maybe the Midlands, certainly the north west
01:40of England and that rain continues its passage eastwards around lunchtime with showers to follow.
01:47So those showers through the afternoon will be mixed with some sunshine.
01:50Notice this rain clips this central belt of Scotland even eastern Scotland through the
01:54afternoon before clearing elsewhere across Northern Ireland as well as Western Scotland
01:59its sunshine and showers through the day.
02:01A bit more cloud hanging on across more southern counties again with some showery bursts.
02:05Temperatures then 13 to 18 degrees Celsius.
02:09So that's the picture on Thursday.
02:12Through Thursday night that rain eventually clears towards the North Sea and the near continent.
02:17And then we will see some clearer skies.
02:20We still are in a showery regime into the early hours of Friday morning and these showers
02:25will track in from the west.
02:27Winds won't be as strong across Scotland through Friday so a better day around.
02:31It's going to feel a bit warmer but the showers will still be around.
02:34And then we'll find some quieter weather coming in towards the west later again with some evening
02:38sunshine.
02:40So that's the picture on Friday.
02:41You can see these showers skirting eastwards.
02:44Now into Saturday things pep up.
02:46The air becomes unstable again and we'll see a mass of showers which could be heavy tracking
02:51their way eastwards predominantly across England and Wales but also eastern Scotland with some
02:55fine weather to follow on Sunday.
02:58Still a few showers in the mix there but the winds which will be stronger particularly across
03:02the south coast on Saturday will tend to ease on Sunday and temperatures up a notch as well.
03:08I'll see you later.
