00:00Jordan Spieth almost ended a fan's life when his golf shot went completely wrong.
00:12Spieth, 31, played at the Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village Golf Club this weekend.
00:18But it was Spieth who also may have needed a change of underwear after things very nearly
00:22went wrong on the very first hole of Sunday's final round. The three-time major winner hit
00:27his tee shot well right into the rough. But his recovery shot out of the thick cut came scarily
00:33close to ending in tragedy. Video footage showed the American lining up the shot in an awkward
00:38stance with the ball well above his feet. And as he makes the connection, the ball hurtles at rapid
00:43speed straight towards the large group of golf fans standing behind a rope to his right, rather
00:48than heading for the green as intended. The fans in the direct line of the ball were forced to take
00:53emergency cover. The commentator said, Goodness me. He was full of confidence, but never got the
01:00connection at all. Hopefully, everyone is okay. Jordan, what are you doing? The terrifying scenes
01:06were also filmed from the fans' view as the ball flew towards the camera. Thankfully, the spectators
01:12somehow managed to get out of harm's way in time and avoided any serious injuries as Spieth recovered
01:18to make part.
