00:00One of the things I'd like to start by talking to you about is a warning that came from Germany's top defense official, General Carsten Breuer,
00:07who warned of a possible Russian attack within four years.
00:11And he was talking about NATO countries.
00:14I was wondering how seriously you think NATO and the member states should take that sort of a timeline.
00:21Yeah, thank you, Tom, for having me with you and for such a thoughtful question.
00:25All throughout NATO Europe, the similar predictions or assessments are being talked about.
00:32And I used to run a military or a Ministry of Defense think tank in Estonia, and we had our annual conference a couple weeks ago.
00:38And there were several chiefs of defense and four-star generals and ministers of defense who unanimously were saying within five years,
00:47Russia will have the capability to attack European members of NATO.
00:52Now, that's not the same thing as an intention.
00:53That's the capability, which leads to then Europe wanting to scale up its defense capacity as quickly as possible.
01:01So capability, yeah, intention, that remains to be seen.
