00:00There are certain words that we're not supposed to say.
00:02Words that are just too harrowing or divisive.
00:05Words that, once spoken, can raise people's blood pressure
00:07and may even get you cancelled for saying them.
00:09But here at Know Your Meme, it's our d*** to...
00:12Oh no, oh god, I'm so sorry, please don't cancel me.
00:14What the f***?
00:15Do not ever f***ing see that d*** ever again.
00:17The concept of employment, or lack thereof,
00:19has been a sensitive subject online,
00:21particularly with those that seem to spend most of their time there.
00:24The chronically online, aka people who live mainly within the algorithm,
00:27have started being referred to as unemployed,
00:30regardless of their actual employment status in the last few years.
00:33The joke that spending a lot of time online
00:35means you must not have a d*** to spend time at has evolved over time.
00:39TikTokers, especially those who may not remember how grass feels,
00:42have started facetiously expressing absolute horror and disgust
00:45at the very concept of employment,
00:47to the point where they've started censoring the word d***
00:49and using a d*** application form as a jump scare.
00:52For example, in late March,
00:54TikToker Harry S*** Poster posted a video counting down to a jump scare
00:58that turned out to be a d*** application,
01:00garnering over 3 million views in a few months.
01:02The precursor to this trend goes all the way back to October of 2019,
01:05when Twitter user Zelensky212 posted this image of himself
01:09wearing a d*** application as a mask,
01:11a terrifying Halloween costume.
01:13This image and overall concept was passed around the web in various memes,
01:16eventually leading up to the 2025 jump scare trend.
01:19Users would get really creative with it,
01:21editing d*** applications into gaming clips and TV or movie scenes,
01:25just about anywhere you'd expect to find something truly harrowing.
01:28Correlating with the d*** application jump scare trend,
01:30some users decided that the word d***,
01:32along with some other words associated with any sense of responsibility really,
01:36were offensive enough to need censorship.
01:38It's unclear who first censored the word d*** to comedically portray it as a curse word,
01:42but one of the earliest known examples of the meme
01:44was posted by TikToker linden5090 in February 2025,
01:48including it on a banned word list for the year.
01:50Meme spread continuing to censor the word,
01:52including posts on Reddit and on TikTok,
01:54all supporting the same conclusion that employment is nothing but nightmare fuel.
01:58Alright, that's how we get the money.
02:00That's the beauty of it, bro.
02:02They deposit the money into our bank accounts.
02:05Mother d***.
02:05That's called a d***.
