00:00So in this video, we are discussing question from standard 10 NCRT book, chapter number 4,
00:07quadratic equation. Find the discriminant of the equation 3x square minus 2x plus 1 by 3
00:15and hence find the nature of its root. Find them if they are 3x. Now, you know what is
00:25discriminant? Discriminant is equal to what? B square minus 4ac. It is denoted by capital
00:43D or delta or triangle in many books. Now, B square minus 4ac, here the given equation
00:52is in the form of quadratic equation. The equation is 3x square minus 2x plus 1 by 3
01:01is equal to 0. We can find by many ways. Okay. Now, what is given? We can compare this with
01:12ax square plus bx plus c is equal to 0, the general form of quadratic equation. So what
01:23is a? a is equal to 3, b, b is equal to minus 2 and c, c is equal to 1 by 3. We can find
01:33discriminant. Discriminant, b square minus 4ac. Now, what is b? Minus 2. Minus 2 square.
01:49Minus 4 into what is a? 3. And what is c? 1 by 3. 3, 3 cancel. So we have minus 2 square
01:59minus 4 and that is equal to 0. For 0, the roots are equal. Okay. D is equal to 0. D is equal
02:13to 0. So roots are equal. Okay. If d is greater than 0, then roots are distinct and real. If d
02:24is less than 0, then roots are imaginary. Okay. So if d is negative number, the roots are imaginary.
02:35The d is positive number, the roots are real. If d is 0, then the roots are same. Okay. Roots are
02:44same. Now see, how we can find the roots? Root x is equal to the value of x is equal to minus b
02:54plus and minus b. That is under root b square minus b square minus 4ac divided by 2a. This
03:06is the common formula for our root. Okay. Now, putting the value x is equal to, what is b?
03:23b is equal to b is equal to minus 2 and a is equal to 3. So b is equal to minus 2. What is
03:33discriminant? 0. Root of 0. 0. 2 into, oh, yep. Here we have a twist. b is equal to minus 2.
03:43b is equal to minus 2. And here we have the negative sign. So minus of minus 2 plus 0 divided
03:55by 2 into a. a is equal to 3. So our answer is minus minus plus 2 divided by 3 to the 6.
04:033 into 2 to the 6. Okay. Hope you understand this. Thank you for watching this video. If you are
