00:11Arnel de Mesa says the Department of Labor and Employment supplied the initial list.
00:16Those chosen for the program will be allowed to buy up to 10 kilos of rice each month at
00:2020 pesos per kilo. However, it is still unclear how the rice will reach them.
00:25De Mesa says authorities are still finalizing the system, including distribution.
00:30He adds the government-run Food Terminal, Inc. has allotted 500 million pesos for
00:34transporting the rice to beneficiaries. This move expands an existing program that
00:39allows vulnerable sectors, including indigents and senior citizens, to buy rice at that low price.
00:45DA Secretary Francisco Chu Laurel says for now, the program is limited to
00:50workers from companies that have expressed interest in the pilot program.
