00:00hi everyone this is Manjusha Radhakrishnan I'm the entertainment editor Gulf News today I have
00:09with me the fabulous and fierce talent Sushmita Sen we go back a long way Sushmita today you did
00:16such a wonderful job you decorated an unsung community the nurses I'm in awe of them every
00:22time I say a silent prayer each time I'm in the hospital served by them actually I would love to
00:28take credit for that because it's an honor to be here and do this but the credit purely lies with
00:33Aster the entire team just coming up with this initiative of the Guardian Global Aster Guardian
00:40Global Nursing Awards in itself is commendable I mean I'm literally the fourth edition that I am
00:46joining the team they've been I was getting these numbers from them there was just staggering like
00:5125,000 applied the first time around and this this year 105,000 nurses that's amazing which is
01:01shortlisted down to the top ten that we sorted in of course Naomi one I am just privileged and honored
01:06that my position allows for people to give me this opportunity because healthcare is something that
01:12as you know in my recent outings I've had these a lot of but it's it's yes nurses hold a very special
01:21place in my heart what I've noticed about nursing is it's dominated by women I see many women doing
01:27it and they're the unsung heroes really they are they're not the doctor they're always the bridesmaid
01:32and never the groom you know when it comes to let's say a surgery what do you have to say to all those
01:37women especially the putting in all the hours their kid might be sick but they're serving somebody
01:41else's child and they're going back home with potentially very many different kinds of
01:47infections that they're surrounded with all day long I mean I look at it on from a medical standpoint
01:53and I look at it from an emotional standpoint and physically taxing and burning out yes but
01:58emotionally it's a very very exhaustive job what I was just saying inside actually to Alisa I was saying
02:05Alisha sorry I keep confusing her and my daughter today I'm having a thing with names
02:09anywho Alisha I was mentioning that being a nurse is like being a mom at the end of the day you keep
02:19on doing what you do for the love of what you do or the people or just the honorable position you are
02:26and the job you've taken up so my love to everyone out there my only thing to say to all nurses is
02:33you're women you have to take care of yourself and I have no doubt that in terms of the professional
02:40requirements we are multifaceted as women there's a lot that we can take on but I think just taking
02:47care of yourself in the process is also very very important and please become nurses this world requires
02:53it I was being told statistics and data and I was hearing about how the nursing community has
03:00kind of shrunk given the medical requirement around the world I think this should grow because at the
03:06end of the day as much as I love a good doctor the doctor comes for a procedure and leaves you heal with
03:13a nurse oh that's beautiful yeah and and so that healing needs you guys so yeah it's a very honorable
03:21place to be
03:22place to be
