05:36Unlike preceding dynamic nerf methods that cram the entire scene's appearance and geometry
05:41into a multi-layer perceptron, MLP, neural network,
05:45Dynabar only stores motion, a more smooth and sparse signal,
05:49utilizing the input video frames to determine everything else required to render new views.
05:54The cleverness of Dynabar comes from its shift away from the need to stash all scene details in a massive MLP.
06:01It chooses to directly harness pixel data from nearby input video frames to render new views,
06:07building on an image-based rendering, IBR method, known as IBRNet designed for static scenes.
06:13IBR methods, including IBRNet, operate on a principle that a new target view of a scene
06:19should closely resemble nearby source images.
06:21This resemblance allows the synthesis of the target by dynamically selecting
06:26and warping pixels from nearby source frames, rather than pre-reconstructing the entire scene.
06:32To extend IBR to dynamic scenes, Dynabar incorporates scene motion during rendering.
06:38It tackles the motion of every 3D point in a scene,
06:41representing this motion using a motion trajectory field encoded by an MLP.
06:46This method of rendering, however, is not devoid of challenges,
06:50as reconstructing and deriving new views for a complex moving scene
06:54is a highly ill-posed problem, with numerous solutions explaining the input video.
07:00Furthermore, Dynabar introduces cross-time rendering to obtain high-quality results.
07:05This technique utilizes the state of a 4D representation at one time instant
07:10to render images from a different time instant, ensuring coherence over time.
07:14To refine rendering fidelity, the scene is automatically factorized
07:19into static and dynamic components, modeled by time-invariant
07:23and time-varying scene representations, respectively.
07:26With Dynabar, Google narrows the gap between professional videography
