Sir Keir Starmer hosted a meeting of the Council of Nations and Regions before holding separate talks with First Ministers on Friday. MPs including Reform's Andrea Jenkyns and Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham hailed the talks as "really constructive" as they departed Downing Street.

00:00Angela Rayne has set the tone actually. Obviously I've known her a long time from being an MP together.
00:05It's a very collaborative approach. They try to tease out with everybody what their passions were for their area.
00:16It was actually quite productive, yeah.
00:18We do the battles of politics out here. You have your quiet word in the ear to get your point across.
00:25But really we've got to have a collaborative approach where, I mean look we want funding don't we?
00:31I want funding for Greater Lincolnshire but I'm not afraid to challenge as well.
00:36I'll never be afraid to challenge but you know I want that investment.
00:39I don't want Lincolnshire to be passed by by not willing to work with the government to get money.
00:45Really constructive and interesting actually you know with mayors from all parties.
00:50We all take a place first rather than a party first approach and sharing challenges.
00:54It was yeah it was a really good day of discussions. We're all agreed that more devolution is the way to get more growth.
01:02Whatever the party is we're all taking that same approach place first and it kind of changes the way British politics works.
01:09You know at the national level in Westminster or Holyrood or Cardiff sometimes it's party first and then nothing gets done and people don't come together.
