Court in Italy rules two mothers can register as parents on child's birth certificate

In recent years, some city registrars in Italy had begun to record only the name of the biological mother on birth certificates and not the name of her partner.

00:01Italy's constitutional court has ruled that two women can now register as
00:05parents of a child on a birth certificate. It's said that it was
00:10unconstitutional for parental rights to be restricted to the biological mother
00:14alone in families with same-sex parents. Advocates for LGBTQ plus celebrated the
00:22ruling saying it was quote a historic day for civil rights in Italy.
00:30The group said the ruling served as a reminder to politicians that it's no
00:55longer possible to pretend they don't exist constitutionally.

01:12LGBTQ plus. It's not that not to recognize the other parents it will
