00:08This gas giant was twice its current size, with a volume that could fit over 2,000 Earths.

00:21by studying the orbits of Jupiter's inner moons, Amalthea and Thebe.

00:25As the Sun's protoplanetary nebula dissipated, Jupiter began to contract,

00:30shrinking to its present size and spinning faster.

00:34Jupiter's massive early self and powerful magnetic field played a huge role in shaping our solar system.

00:45Even now, Jupiter continues to slowly shrink as it cools.
