00:58In 16th century Japan, during the Sengoku period, a band of marauding thieves approaches a small mountain village.
01:07They decide to spare the village until after the barley harvest, intending to return and steal the crops.

01:20Seeking guidance, they turn to the village elder, Jisaku, who advises them to hire samurai for protection, offering only food as compensation.
